  1. No, there aren't any photos of some shockingly gorgeous model. A different kind of amazing woman. I was at the VA clinic yesterday. While sitting in the waiting area a family came in. The veteran was an approximately 75 year old man who was confined to a wheel chair. He was a large man and from the looks of things he seemed to suffer from maladies of the feet and lower legs that would be consistent with diabetes problems. He was being pushed by a woman between 70 and 75 years of age that I fully suspect was his wife. Then there was the third member if the family. He was at least in his thirties and more likely just into his forties. He was holding his mother's arm as they came in and she guided him to a chair and sat him down with a quiet command to stay there. He was obviously the couples' adult son and was mentally handicapped. What really stuck with me about this whole thing was the woman's appearance, expressions, and general demeanor. She wasn't angry, upset, annoyed, exhausted, or even tired. As she checked her husband in for his appointment her voice was crisp and clear and very pleasant and upbeat. I couldn't help but wonder how long things had been this way for her. She had obviously cared for her son for however old he was and had cared for son AND husband since the diabetes had claimed him. She very obviously knows she will have the same situation for the remainder of her husband's life, and possibly her life, or maybe even more difficult. So, the thought I had was, "How does she do it? What kind of woman does it take to deal with the situation she has and still remain as positive and upbeat as she is?" Like I said, a most amazing woman. Sorry if I blabbered along on this. It was just something that caught my attention and I thought I'd share.
  2. It's dam versus dam(n)
  3. I saw the commercial. Don't plan on watching it. It'll be 59 minutes of hype and commercials and one minute for the actual jump. I'll catch the highlights on the 'Net somewhere.
  4. Another vote for Fotki. "Freebie" hosting sites are prone to problematic results in one way or another. 24 bucks a year for good, stable photo hosting is a good deal.
  5. I use Fotki. I've never had a single problem. I know that several other guys also use Fotki and all seem very happy with it. It's not a "freebie" site, but it only costs $24 a year. That's less than the price of a new kit so it's well worth it. .
  6. Man, oh, man! There was some real killer iron on display, for sure. Looks like both MOPAR and non-MOPAR were represented quite well. No way a guy could pick a favorite out of all that, but that blue GTX sure caught my eye. The orange Barracuda did too. Occasionally I like to see non-Hemi, non-'Cuda offerings. That orange one looks like it really stands out as a great example of that. Thanks for sharing! Oh, wow! You're still posting. Great. You posted the Fords just before I clicked to post my comment. Keep 'em coming!
  7. Nice job on the Beswick Pontiac. Looks great!
  8. Hey, Anders. Just reading through all the positive comments should tell you an awful lot of guys like your work. It IS a great looking build.
  9. Thanks! Very interesting to see where and how others live. Being a lifetime member of small, rural towns I find several things very strange and curious. An apartment that rents for $3750/mo just totally blows my mind. Here in my new home town, an apartment that rents for more than $750/mo is considered too much. Most places are in the $300 to $600 range. You also mentioned the Automotive Trades High School. In rural southern Illinois, each town has a single high school and some counties have only one school for the entire county. All the choices available for schooling in large cities just boggles my mind. Very interesting and entertaining.
  10. If the Internet has done nothing else, it has given cause to many people like me to investigate things we're unfamiliar with. I really had no idea what Canada Day was, although I knew it happened about the same time as the 4th of July here in the States. I just spent a short while reading about Canada Day and now have a basic understanding. So to all you fellows from the north, happy Canada Day!
  11. Wouldn't want to even be around that thing if the wind was blowing. It's got a LOT of flat, surface area and no width for stability.
  12. Another great Charger. Great choice of colors. Looks fantastic.
  13. Great build! Paint color is fantastic and I really love those dog dish hub caps. 2 thumbs up!
  14. Yep. The left one is mounted the wrong way.
  15. I'm not a fan of current Top Fuel and Funny Car drag racing, but Force was around when it was still "old school" racing. The fact that he's still active at age 69 and still as common and humble as he is speaks volumes about him as a man. 16 NHRA championships is pretty much all you need to know about his dedication to the sport, as well. Glad your daughter got to get up close and personal with her hero. And even more glad he took the time to give her a video and photos to remember the event by. Tell her there are lots of us guys out here that think John Force is a pretty good choice for a hero.
  16. Ace, Mental retardation is still an accepted term to describe an individual with a measured IQ of less than 70 to 75. In some circles the term has been, or is being, replaced by the term "intellectual disability". Whether use of the terms mentally retarded, mental retardation, and other similar terms ceases remains to be seen. The condition is still correctly termed mental retardation in the majority of instances. Don't let television and social networking overly influence your way of thinking. Considerable incorrect, or partially incorrect, information is abundant via those two media. Looks like this might just be a case of misinformation.
  17. I recorded all the Barrett Jackson shows to watch at my leisure. I watched the first 3 hours just a few hours ago. Did any of you guys happen to catch the beautiful, black '65 Barracuda sell? It was just about 30 minutes in. It was a numbers matching, all original, 45,000 miles car with a 273 and a Carter AFB. It only brought $14,500. I know it's a 1st generation A-body, but I just figured it would bring over $20K.
  18. I have to agree with Steve on this one. Several years ago we moved from Texas back to Illinois. We packed everything ourselves. All the movers had to do was put stuff in the truck and drive it here. We had everything marked, which turned out to be one of our mistakes. When we unpacked we found 2 boxes of delicate antiques that had obviously been bounced like a basketball. The box was carefully marked, "FRAGILE - BREAKABLES". The other problem was that the box marked, "COIN & STAMP COLLECTIONS" somehow got lost in transit. My new rule - I move delicates and fragile items myself. Period.
  19. Did you mean "shiny"? It happens to us all occasionally.
  20. A Walther is a fine gun, for sure.
  21. Beautiful car!
  22. Yeah, I have seen that thread. It's mostly out of date now with the bulk being 2 years old, or older, and I don't believe this particular magnifier was mentioned in that thread. I was curious to see what Mike C thought of the lens in it. I want to be sure the next one I purchase has a nice, clear lens. But thanks for reminding me of that thread.
  23. Exceptional build. 2 thumbs up!
  24. How is the magnifier lens? I bought a different model magnifier/light and I'm not at all pleased with the lens. It's a 5" round lens. I don't think it offers a very clear image when viewing through the lens. It seems fuzzy or out of focus. I have been looking around for a different one. How is the price on this one?
