Are those panels in all releases of that car? Seeing your build gave me a crazy urge to build a Pacer gasser, but I'd only want to do it to a wagon that had all the panels. If you're not sure about other releases, which one did you have? I think I'll go ahead and buy one for a future project.

I like it! Great looking build.

The era of gassers and street freaks

Now THAT'S a sweet looking ride! -
By the way, I saved a copy of the photo of the interior. I have one of these kits and I'll use your interior as a guide. Looks very nice. Super neat and clean. Hope I can do half as good.

A really nice job! You did that kit justice. Nice engine work and detailing in the engine compartment. Very neat and clean.

What Did You Have for Dinner?
smhardesty replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Haven't had it quite yet. My wife is preparing supper right now. We stopped on the way back from Evansville where I had an appointment with the VA and bought some more fresh produce. I found the first all yellow sweet corn of the season and we also grabbed some fresh potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, muskmelon, and a Black Diamond watermelon from Posey County, IN. So tonight's feast will be baked potato with all the fixin's, sweet corn, and cucumbers & onions. It's hard to beat that meal. I don't even need meat to make a feast out of fresh produce. We also talked to a guy that's kind of "famous", locally anyway, for his sweet corn. He grows only "Serendipity" yellow & white corn and it's always delicious. He said he had sold out the first patch, but would start picking out of his second patch in 2 days, so the wife is going to run down where he's from in 2 days and get us some of that corn. We'll be eating high on the hog all week. -
Great looking build! 2 thumbs up on this one, for certain.

Yeah, me too. I just tried finding a photo of what we used Butch Wax for. We called them "Duck Bills". In short, the barber would burr your entire head except for a patch in the very front about 2" - 2 1'2" wide. The Butch Wax was then used to make that little patch of hair stand straight up. Pretty much all ages of guys had Duck Bills, from 1st graders to young adults. I can't say as I recall any of the "older crowd" with one though. I absolutely HATED the party line. Anytime someone on the party line got a call, there were different rings. We were 2 long rings, and there were several combinations on our little neighborhood. Everybody on the line knew the rings of everybody else on the line. We had a REAL nosy old gal that just couldn't wait to pick up when my sister or I received a call. What's even more humorous is that you could ALWAYS hear the "click" when somebody else picked up, so we knew when she was on the line. My sister was too good spirited to say or do anything, but I always made sure to "warm up" the old gal's ears. Some of the wild stuff I put out on that party line bordered on getting me thrown in jail, but it sure was fun!

I'm with you, Snake. The scoops, blowers, and all make the cars look like toys. The cars just don't do a thing for me.

Thanks. My wife has to haul me to Evansville tomorrow afternoon. The nurse is going to remove the dressing, check to be sure everything is OK, then re-dress it and send me home. As I understand it, I'll then be here in bed or on the couch for the remainder of the 2 weeks. After that I guess it's just hobbling around until everything is healed enough to start walking on it, or learning how to walk again! I haven't even tried to sit down at the bench. Just sitting in a normal position in my recliner causes the dang thing to throb and hurt.

I traded for the Little Red Wagon and managed to buy the Hurst Olds off eBay for 20 bucks delivered to the door. Two more for the stash!

The future of Motorsports ?
smhardesty replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that whoever got the contract to provide all the straw MIGHT have been required to place them where track officials indicated. I don't know that to be fact, but I do know that is often the case when bids are put out for large quantities of straw. And they would definitely need to be removed fairly soon after the event, or events. After a couple of rains, straw bales start getting pretty rank. -

Not nit picking, just a minor correction. Straw bales, not hay. -

Ditto Amen, brother! Exactly once. And that will be the number of times I end up watching it. Yep, but I'll rephrase that. I hope my time here in this world has passed before it happens. . -
Saw this in the August MOPAR Action. I just gotta call this a "Weird car". Wild, but weird. And I did NOT add the "Gasaver" image. The guys at MOPAR Action did. . .

X2. Ouch! My wife and I have real problems when we travel to tourist spots or the city. We see the prices and our eyes do that slow roll to the back of our heads.
-
It's all relative. You guys live in areas where prices for pretty much everything would be considered high for me. Here in my little hometown, if I had a $200 bill for a party of 8, I'd be more than a little upset. The only way I would expect to see a bill that high for 8 people would be of there was a LOT of booze involved, not just a glass of wine. For just a meal for 8 people I wouldn't even expect a $150 bill unless all 8 people had ordered a mixed drink before dinner.
-
Well, that doesn't sound too "Enthusiastic" to me. LOL! Thanks for the info.
-
Will do. I'll have to hit a news stand or some other place with a better assortment of magazines. That little spot where I picked up the August 'MOPAR Action' didn't have RPM. I'm leaning toward getting a subscription to 'MOPAR Action' even though they only publish 6 issues a year. I prefer monthly mags to keep me a little busy. Thanks for the info!

A very nice build of a great old car. Fantastic choice of color and your paint job is excellent. 2 thumbs up!

Here's a second vote on being ridiculous. Having run up a bill for a party of 8 for dinner SHOULD have exempted you from any frivolous charges like that. And the way I'm reading your post you bought the cake from the restaurant. Is that correct? So dinner for 8 plus purchasing the cake ABSOLUTELY should have exempted that asinine charge. Ouch! Sorry to hear your family got stuck like that.

RPM mag is actually one I have bookmarked for consideration. Yep, it appears to be a pretty decent mag. Thanks for the info on Dragzine.com. I didn't think I had missed a way to subscribe to a printed edition, but thought I'd double check with somebody else.

Those are definitely good looking wheel covers. Joseph turns out some great products. Thanks for sharing the close up photo. It helps a bunch to see them that clearly. EDIT: Now I'm wondering if I have a '67 Camaro in my stash. I know I've got two '69 kits, but those will both be used for a tribute build of my wife's Rallye Green '69. Hmmm. Might be time to look for a good deal on a '67 kit. I'll check my stash over the weekend. Thanks.

I looked, but didn't see anywhere to subscribe. Are they an online only magazine? I pretty much can't spend much time reading online stuff. I'm kind of limited to good, old fashioned printed material. If there is a print version available, could you post a link? Thanks.
