  1. I got the body painted (Testors One-Hit Emerald Mist decanted and shot through my airbrush) and decals on....clear coat will sprayed on later.... I started in on the frame. Paint is Tamiya gloss black. The panels are Bare Metal Foil Matt Aluminum....slow going, taking my time, but it seems to be working fairly well, a few blemishes touched up with a Molotow chrome pen.... Thanks for looking....more as work progresses... -RRR
  2. Thanks, I guess I can try some goo gone. It's Tamiya paint sprayed recently. I did try rubbing the gloo off with a cloth rag but seems to leave a slightly dull finish in the area. It does seem this matt aluminum foil has more adhesive than the 'chrome' foil I've used before. -RRR
  3. This has probably been asked and answered before, but a search didn't turn up anything I could find. I'm using some of the matt aluminum BMF, it appears there is a LOT of adhesive left behind once the excess foil is removed. Any ideas on the best way to remove the gunk without harming the paint? Thanks.... -RRR
  4. Thanks, Scott. I was unaware of the 'Scorpion' body version of this chassis. I have (at least for now) decided to use the Studebaker headers cut apart and glued on to the Piranha flange. Here's where I am as of now. I temporarily attached the engine to the frame. I need to determine final header tube length. I prepped the body and shot it with an initial coat of primer. Some work is still needed on the body.... -RRR
  5. When we (family and I) moved from one corner of our fine country to the other about 20 years ago (a corporate move where the moving company comes in and boxes up EVERYTHING (even trash) and load it on a truck), most of my builds were packed poorly (by then I was already working in our new location, so I was unable to supervise) and most didn't fare too well... most of it's all now jumbled up, broken apart in a big bin now...I've moved on from it. Things happen to old builds....it's only plastic, it's only a hobby. Don't take it so seriously...my $.02 of perspective and worth both pennies. -RRR
  6. Interesting work going on here. This looks like its gonna nasty! I'm in..... -RRR
  7. Jocko's streamliner is in Ocala at Don Garlits' Museum of Drag Racing. It's worth a visit! -RRR
  8. As others have said, nicely done. Definitely built to a 'T'..... -RRR
  9. The painted body was left in a box wrapped in a paper towel. Bad decision.... I tried to wet sand it, but that wasn't going to work....I thought about starting with a fresh body, but that seemed like a lot of unnecessary work...... So, I stripped off the paint. Now on to filling in the seams, while I await a new can of spray paint arrives... In the meantime I got busy preparing the Piranha frame and engine parts. There's lots of flash and much sanding was required... I'm not sure about the original headers and I am looking a few options. Any ideas? -RRR
  10. I have decided to resurrect this stalled build....more soon... -RRR

  17. eBay... I don't buy that many new kits, I'm always on the prowl for parts and pieces....and supplies... -RRR
  18. I've had the honor and privilege of riding in both of ADL's hot rods. I even got to drive the '27!! -RRR
  19. I like it! Good job.... -RRR
  20. Nice job on a subject most haven't heard about. Keep the flame alive! I like the looks of the mustang body seen in the background as well. -RRR
  21. Another one of our fellow well-known builders here just joined the ranks, but I'll let him tell the story. BTW: if I had a 1:1 hot rod I wouldn't even build models! I'd be too busy driving!!! -RRR
