I bought the recently re-issued '72 Chevrolet Racer's Wedge/Pickup on a whim the other day.... I figured I might build it one day. I started looking at the ramp section of the kit (it also has parts to build a stock pickup truck as well)...while talking with Kit Karson about the kit, he reminded me he had sent me a '41 Ford COE based on a Jimmy Flintstone body that he had started. He had cut off the cab section and replaced it with the cab from a Monogram '40 Ford pickup, while giving the top a slight chop. I mocked it up with wheels and tires form the Monogram Ford F350 and well....another project in the works.... Follow along as I attempt to make this look like something.... -RRR (& KK)

Ha! I did actually send a TROG application for the '30 roadster I built, Mr. TROG wrote back that his entry was better done than many they receive. -RRR -

Thanks, Tom, that's high praise. Yes, my bench usually looks like a pile of styrene rubble!! There is a build in there somewhere, though. And thanks for all of you for the positive comments. -RRR -

Alan- It looks like you have a good start on your build. I like the lip around the body opening and how it goes all the way around. Looking forward to where you take it. The V-12 flathead is a great idea! -RRR -

Here's a little track modified based on a Model T platform with a custom built body. -Body made from the cowl of a 1932 Chrysler, one of the MPC 'Gangbuster' series of kits. The cowl was narrowed and shortened. The rest of the body is from the rear fenders of a Revell '48 Ford. Much massaging and filling was done to complete the body. The track nose from the Revell '29 pickup was cut up and resized. -The frame is made from Evergreen styrene rectangles with the rear crossmember from the AMT '25 T kit. -Engine is a flathead from a Revel kit with a single carb intake and stock heads. Transmission is a '39 style from the parts box. -The front axle is from the Revell Model A pickup with a spring from the Monogram ZZ Top '33. Spindles and other components scratch built. The rear end is a banjo from the '48 Ford with a spring from the AMT '25 T kit. -Wheels and rear tires are from the Monogram Model A coupe, front tires from the MPC '32 Chrysler. -Bomber seat from The Parts Box Co. with scratched built cushion. The dash was scratched together with gauges from some decal sheets with photo-etched gauge bezels. -The floorboards are strips of 'wood' decal from a pickup with the metal bed strips sliced off. -headlights (small) and a tail light with a license plate makes it 'street legal" Ha! It would be fun to tool around in though, wouldn't it? -Paint is a combination of gloss, semi-gloss and flat blacks. -Buildup pix and more here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/single-seater-beach/

Here's my entry in the TIM Boyd Tribute '29 pickup build some of us have been having fun with. I didn't do very much detail on this one, just a fairly quick build using some of the features of the original in the late '80s, early '90s. Body is from the Revell kit released many times in several different guises. -Doors glued shut with scratch built non-operational top and bottom hinges. -Rear pan stepped down and tidied up. -Rear fenders bobbed slightly. I think the stock length model A fenders drop down too low and it makes the rear end look droopy. IMHO. -Visor shortened, stock visor looks too long and droopy to me. IMHO. -Chassis z'ed in the rear. -Rear suspension, Corvette IRS style sourced form the AMT '34 5ive window coupe. -Front suspension form the Revell '32 series. -Floor pan from Revell '32 5ive window coupe. -Seats from the parts box. -Dash scratch built with Model Car Garage photoetched gauge panel. -Engine is an SBF from the Revell Speedwagon, lower intake manifold, front cover and oil pan aftermarket chromed. -Wheels from the Revell '37 convertible. Front tires from the '37 kit, rear tires from the Revell '32 roadster kit. -Front headlights from Revell Model A, rear tail lights from Accu-Pro, remember them?) for that billet look! -Paint is Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue (looks lighter than in pix). Visor, top and bed cover Tamiya flat white. Minwax Polyurethane clear shot thru my airbrush. -Bits and pieces from here and there. -More pix here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/rrrs-29-pickup-tim-/ -RRR Accu-Pro (remember Thanks for looking! -RRR

Very nicely done, the wooden roof bows are spot on. I love that RMCM Supercharger Company of Torino blower, it's so cool. I've almost used one several times, you made it look outstanding with the detail painting. Hopefully, this kit will be reissued someday.... -RRR

This looks like an interesting subject. Looking forward to following along. I hope you're well up there near the opposite corner.... -RRR

Tamiya paint prefix?
Rocking Rodney Rat replied to SCRWDRVR's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As stated above the PS designation is for clear RC bodies. I looked around on the innerwebs and from what I can find, this paint will eat styrene. I bought a can by mistake and threw it in the trash (not worth the risk). My $.02 and worth both pennies... -RRR -
