These are models from another forum: Scalebuilders.com It just so happens that many of us are also active here so you may have seen most of them already. This local forum is for model builders from Puerto Rico and we have about 50-60 members. I'm one of the moderators and it is in spanish. The last day of each month, The "model of the month" was picked out of those finished and posted that month. At the end of the year we have 12 models of the month: Those presented here. The question is simple: From these 12 model of the month winners, which one do you like the best? That will be crowned model of the year and the modeler will get a prize kit. Thanks,

Dale Earnhardt's Daytona winner
ismaelg replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
I'm really really sorry. But the lack of good reference was a major turn down for me. I even considered selling it with the aftermarket decals and all, but I'll hang to it for a while. Who knows.... Thanks, -
The new Model Cars Mag#136
ismaelg replied to Tom Jackson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am always the last one to get the mag. I guess those mail turtles swim faster to Australia than here. Either that or the donkey from Denver reaches California first and then heads to Florida via Chicago to send mine -
Hello, I want to publicly thank Danny (3men2s) for his enthusiasm and efforts. All year long, he has been cheering and pushing us in a good way, with the only purpose of promoting the hobby. He came up with this model of the month and model of the year thing, ran it all by himself, and he has even given away models from his own stash as prizes. He is really the spark of our local forum And all of this have always been done unselfishly and without the pressure of competition. On the contrary, it has always been about having fun, sharing, learning from each other and helping others push the envelope. So let's show him our appreciation with your votes and comments! Thanks Danny! Regards,

WOW! OK, I'll take the credit for starting this "tradition" of posting all the models done in the year. I've been doing it for years back in the Hobby Heaven board and here since 2006. I'm very glad to see others jumping in! Your votes on my models are a bit different than my own rankings. You voted: IMSA Corvette GTP (25 votes) 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car (21 votes) triple tie for third between Gurney's Eagle, Cadilllac STS-V and Concept Camaro (12 votes each) no votes for the rest. My ranking is: Corvette IMSA GTP Dan Gurney's Olsonite Eagle 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car Penske Camaro (very close to the Pace Car) white 1981 Corvette Cadillac STS (almost tied with the Vette) Villeneuve's FW-19 The Star Wars thingy and the 1/43 are not even worth mentioning. Thank you all for your time, your support and your comments. It was a good modeling year. Unfortunately 2009 doesn't look that good. With new added responsabilities at work, a busy life and my recent shift towards aircraft models, I'm not sure what cars if any I'll finish this year. Thanks,
-
I don't have any specific plans for 2009. But given the current state of affairs, it seems it will be a very tough year at work and very busy personally. So it seems modeling will be limited. I only currently have Danica's 2005 Indy car and the helicopter I'm working on. Other than that just a bunch of ideas, including several Corvettes and some other aircraft projects. Thanks all for the response! At the end of the month I'll compare the results with my own rankings. Thanks,
-
Cool racers! Is the Saleen S7 a modified diecast? Thanks,
-
Nice! I'm torn between the Ferrari 365 and the cutaway Porsche, with the F40 closing in. The Porsche looks like it was quite a challenge. But I think I'll go with the 365.... Thanks,
-
Nice STS! Love the color combo. Very elegant. Thanks,

Hello! Time for my traditional year end modeling poll. I've been away from the workbench for over 3 weeks now and it is very unlikely I'll be back soon, let alone finish anything. So my Class of 2008 is set. You can vote for your favorite and I'll compare the results with my own ranking. Kit of the Year....2008
ismaelg replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hasegawa 250 Testa Rossa. Not much for me this year. -
WOW! Cool! One of my all time favorite Ferraris. I've always dreamed of an "affordable" plastic kit of this car. I consider it one of the most beautiful sounding cars in history. Quoting Alan DeCadenet in the Ferrari Victory by Design DVD: "For 1972 the World's Championship for sports car racing consisted of 10 races around the world. This little baby won, all 10 of them. Only the factory ever ran these cars in anger. Mr Ferrari considered that they were a bit too tricky for private entries" "What would constitute my dream sports car? well, I'd like a formula 1 type chassis, clothed in a sexy aerodynamic body, flat 12, 4 cams, 48 valves, fuel injected Formula 1 engine, driving thru a 5 speed gearbox. And 600 to 700 HP per ton. Oh, and I want it bright red too. That is exactly what I have here. The 312 PB" Thanks,

Beautiful job as usual! A great rendition of a great Ferrari. Well done!

I see my name on the storyboard, right under the Nova...

Darn it! 19/20. I missed the BMW question for not reading carefully

Hello, This is most likely my last model of the year. I am so busy these days it's not funny. As soon as I press the Post button I'm heading out of town for a few days. Not the greatest kit and not exactly my favorite subject of all time, but it was a fun experience. I like the end result, but it probably ranks dead last for my builds this year. Anyway, here is my British Smurf Heller 1/43 Jaguar XJ-S The classic picture with the giant ruler Just had a little fun with Photosop. I know the lightning needs to be tweaked but it was just for fun. Thanks,

My most ambitious replica project ever!!
ismaelg replied to VW Dave's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Congratulations Dave! That is the ABSOLUTE BEST blessing you can get! That is the best part of life bar none. He'll be ready to be a cub scout in 2013. Thanks, -
Darn Lucas Electric! The Power Window failed and it is stuck halfway! Thanks,
-
WOW! That is WAY cool! One of my old grails of all time, and I think it is the first time I see one finished. Looks GREAT! Thanks,
-
Side glass made with acetate. Kit's parts were way too thick and distorted. Thanks,

The Smurf: Chrome and black trim Thanks,

Hello, This was set aside to dry almost a month ago. Next time you want to complaint about metal foil in a 1/24 car give me a call..... I added windshield wipers made out of wires. Remember this is 1/43 scale... Thanks,
