It's one reason I posted on this forum, appreciate the information! I knew they used wood, was thinking the wheel wells should be tan and not aluminum. The cockpit might as well be, except the seat. I've been noticing there are no exhaust pipes on the museum plane, figured there were no engines.

What I was thinking. It's really pretty slick, impractical, and they were thinking of a fighter. Now color of wheel bays? Interior, seat is red, looks like the whole interior tub is. Nice dash detail. Propeller gearbox molded in, thinking of aluminum brushed on, not a favorite thing for me. I'm also thinking of sacrilege, racing stripes. ?

Years ago, someone showed me something like this, said the maker was in jail, so had the time. Love the creativity.

Been awhile since I saw a video, think someone built a replica, in flight. There is also a large r/c plane, with one prop.

The other night, on a lark, I searched 'Sportstar' to see if anyone built this. What I found was my comments in this thread. Checked out eBay, saw one in auction mode, only 1 bid. So I set my alarm, checked in about an hour before the hammer, no action, put mine in with 30 seconds to go, and got it. I had a hunch and manifested it. Just put it out in the universe for what you want, you might be surprised.

Got the big part painted. Will wet-sand and paint another coat.

Y'all thought I posted in the wrong section? ? Planet Models 1:48 of the one-off racer airplane Bugatti 100P, I found at the IPMS Nationals in CO. I haven't done a thing for a couple months, wanted to call today a vacation, and build something quick. It's a brick, the two engines would have been fun. No seams or gaps like the typical airplane model. No decals, so I might finish it. But then again, I just can't build box stock anymore. Flickr: Stu Carr Not many parts. The vacuum-formed canopy is duplicated, so that was nice of them. The instructions have only blue and black for color references, but the box art is color, so I needed to figure out the interior which appears red, wheel wells must be light blue. Spent some time looking for bubble holes, there are many. The landing gear is white metal; I have filed, sanded, steel wool and Dremel wire brushed one here. The exhausts needed to be fixed, going to use steel tubing. Spotted a detail that was overlooked. How anyone can miss this, is beyond me. The box art has it, pictures I found of the plane at the Oshkosh museum shows it. Made from aluminum newspaper printing plate. Also added the tailwheel. Fun to do a model that can be painted the same day. Tamiya primer to start. Gloss black, then Alclad polished aluminum. Now I'm irked. I used a magnifying glass to look over the body, still missed an area. Then the propellers shouted about bubbles, on both sides. ? Enough whining, it's typical of resin.

I have that Ivo kit, don't know why. ? Nice job being creative!

I noticed that too. One reason I found a blue truck, it's close to Indigenous art colors, and the Sante Fe architecture palette. If I parked more strategically, would pass for an abandoned vehicle. ? Thank you! From Kentucky? The last trip is east of Flagstaff. Two Guns and Twin Arrows is really easy access. The Canyon Padre section, in the EZ66 book says "This is NOT your casual vacation side trip, and not advised for first-timers." I didn't see a soul on that part, saw 4 motorcycle riders at 2 Guns, they were hating the wind. The traffic in Flagstaff along Route 66 was ridiculous.

May not happen. At the rate I'm building lately, nothing happening. But I still like to add to the stash.

I have the other box version of that too. Looks much better than the original slot car kit. Received the Sportstar today. I never looked at this series of Model Master kits, I know it was a short run. Very simple, massive cleanup will be required, such as a wart on the hood. I find it amusing, since Boyd sort of made billet aluminum the only thing to use, the wheels are cast white metal. The shape of the body looks good. It would be tough to open up the engine bay, and detail a proper chassis. Now I need to find the Autoweek that featured this car, saw it recently before I cleaned the model room........

I have a hot-wire cutter, original purpose is to cut styrofoam for train layouts. You can use a steel ruler as a guide for straight cuts. When I cut "glass", cut beyond and then sand down to the line. I use it for cutting bodies, use a saw for only a few cuts.

I have one of those kits, thought about kit bashing the chassis with a vintage Ferrari, but it's so much larger that I abandoned the idea. Yours came out nice, the color is a good alternative to red.

Yes, I have the Auto Week issue that it was featured on the cover. Think it's one of his last. I will bet there was a licensing issue with his estate that killed this kit.
