  1. A what?!?! That came out really nice. If you went full detail, everyone would still be waiting.
  2. Oh man, don't get me going! I would still be working on this if I corrected the wheel wells too. ? The radiator is wrong too, but the missing fan shroud disguised it. Molded in battery, come on man! Interior has the upscale bucket seats molded on, I made a bench seat. And a heater. And pedals. And and and...... At least there are aftermarket gauge faces, but the 4 little gauges at the bottom are missing.
  3. I agree the AMT kit sucks. I qualified my comment by stating that I did not have an MPC for reference. I was hoping Moebius would step up to the plate, with a proper chassis, not a rehash of a curbside. Would help your case to post pictures, to compare the real thing with the kit. I'm curious now, how accurate the tail end looks on the MPC kit. This picture was before I tweaked it.
  4. ? Don't you wish! Just looking at the parts in the bags, and the p-e, I'm impressed with the kit. Good to know about the Bel-Air spear piece, my wagon was a 210 that didn't have it, so it won't be used. The point I wanted to make, some of us don't let a lousy kit stop us. Back to the regularly scheduled program...... ?
  5. Thanks for your comment on my CARHENGE topic. I will have to study this WIP, quick glance, looks awesome!
  6. Oh man, after reading this last page, I may toss my kits in the trash too. I was stupid to get that resin 4 door wagon body, it's really rough! I'll just have to be happy I owned the real thing, last century. In fact, both those Nomads greenhouse has much to be desired.
  7. Sorry, I have to hammer you for writing so much misinformation. I owned this '69, and currently a '68, so I can't let your comments go unchallenged. 1. There is a slight slant forward, easy to tell at this angle ⬇️. If the MPC is 90 degree vertical, it's incorrect. 2. There is an aluminum part that goes between the bumper, and the grill. It's a small gap, so it's easy to not see. The fender wraps around the corner a little, so can understand the misperception. But since I had to replace the bumper after hooking a fence, I recall that detail with burning clarity. My biggest beef, is the horrid rear end, which I made right. The tailgate is too narrow for starters. The shape of the lights was totally wrong. I don't have an MPC kit, so don't know how accurate this is. This is why there needs to be a new tooling IMO. My WIP shows other details that I fixed: AMT - 1969 Chevrolet pickup: The Green Barge One can't rely on restored pickups for accuracy, look at how many don't have the headlight bezels painted black.
  8. Report from Prescott Valley: Model club friend called to say Model Master was marked down to 99 cents. The only color I usually get was classic white, but got 9 bottles of colors that could work. I didn't bother looking at kits, never is anything I want anyway.
  9. That's an awesome contribution, there isn't more than tourist trap info on the web.
  10. I built a couple of Big Deal kits when I was a kid. You could have fooled me that this was not another one.
  11. Thanks for posting more pictures. I didn't see some of those earlier. The Willys pickup stands out to me, don't recall a model of that.
  12. Photo by Benjamin Gettinger on Flickr. Just found out about this art installation. CARHENGE The Nebraska Answer to Stonehenge Are there kits of all these cars?
  13. My two cents..... 1. Camaro, come on, those are a dime a dozen. 2. Jet Racer, before my time, I've heard about that era being blocks of wood. I built model rockets as a teen, know something about finishing balsa wood. But what an ugly thing! 3. Pierce Arrow, never have seen that before, it's a rescue, decent looking design, that's why I voted for it.
  14. Years ago I thought it would be stupid to have more than one of the same kit. Then someone brought a bunch of kits from an estate to a club meeting, and I couldn't help getting another '50 Ford pickup, '50 Chevy pickup (have 3 now). After I got a '69 Chevy pickup (real thing), have 2 '72 pickups in the box. Two Nazca kits. Two AMT 300SL kits, one is really cool original box art. Have several different versions of the same car. So yea I'm stupid. ?
  15. Only a 4-door post. ? Nice color, and has the Route 66 plate. Seen the red '69 on the road, don't know if the vintage pickup runs, but it has moved. New antique store in town, had to photo bomb with Blue Cloud.
  16. I was surprised how many replicas, around the world, have been done.
  17. Oh ...... so that's how it's supposed to look. ? When I built Porndy, was impressed with the quality of the kit. The wheels should look good on something, someday. Good job on yours, like the choice of colors. I didn't know Porsche raced at Indy, when I spotted the kit at a model swap, I was surprised, and after reading the history, I know why.
  18. I had the copy shop scan the real plate, reduced using PhotoShop, printed on high quality paper (not just normal, but glossy sheen, and a little thicker, prints better).
