  1. Reality TV contract.
  2. Those are more rare than the Chevy! ?
  3. ? I've entered the make-a-mountain-out-of-a-molehill stage. Steering rack has been modified. I know the reason Tamiya does this part in one piece, to keep it simple. When the skid plate is put on, none of this will be seen anyway, so I might not put it on. I'm afraid to look up what the steering rack really looks like, must be the shaft from the steering wheel coming in with u-joints galore. I think the part with the triangular supports is the sway bar, couldn't keep the chassis mounts so tossed them. Drew the part before cutting, to know the length. Used the thin wall steel tubing, so the bent wire could be shoved through. Managed to not jab my fingers when drilling the holes. ? Needed to bend the solder exhaust even more, and cut into the oil pan to get clearance. Used the cut off rod, and part of the interior (so far all parts are scrounged from kit offcuts) to fabricate new chassis mounts (red arrows). I drilled holes first, then knife cut the rack mounts, which were glued to the sway bar part. The rack snaps in, great for mocking up. Getting the engine catalytic converter placed and spliced with the kit exhaust is next.
  4. Came out great! I saw one in Prescott a couple years ago.
  5. Nice job on that motorized kit! Like the color choice.
  6. I'm no expert at all with the Model A. I know RS used a Dodge, seen the pictures and die-cast piggy bank model. I should contact Russell Stover to see if they have pictures of the original car, hopefully a Model A was used. Thanks for the input.
  7. #11 checking in. Covered up the beautiful mica blue. Debating on a coat of clear pearl, or Dullcote. The wheels will be aluminum.
  8. I skipped over the description at first and looked at the pictures, did think "that looks like a Viper engine" and now I know. Looks great!
  9. Looks really nice from here! Love the color.
  10. Seems like I've seen this thread before, but must have been another of similar theme. I like different. VW Thing (not the Kubelwagon, got that). This pickup version is cool, but the 4 door would be good. Lamborghini 350 GTV. This is the prototype, the "regular" ones have oval headlights, that would be good too. Lamborghini LM002 (Le Moo Two), Rambo's Lambo. I've seen a resin built model, I of course want to built it. 'Merican, '57 Dodge Sweptside. I know there are die-casts cheap on eBay.
  11. I know someone made a 1/24 resin kit, but don't think it's available now. Another case of get-it-now when you ever see something.
  12. I'm giving' it all she's got Captain! ? I really like Alclad 'chrome' for light reflectors. I was not happy with the resin copy of the gas filler, found a better copy and also painted chrome. Painted the body gloss black. Still not a smooth finish, might polish some and repaint. Back to futzing with the engine. Solder used for a new pipe. But now the steering rack is needing something, needs to be re-located. I've modified such a unit before, using a tube, drilling the bellows, with a wire going through (funny that was a Tamiya curbside with engine transplant).
  13. Uh...... I'm more concerned that everyone else will be Augie wanna be making the most killer hot rods on the planet. I was thinking a caramel cream with dark chocolate leather interior, and an Amaretto bottle hooked up to the carb for when rolling into a car show ......
  14. If you find it, I'll have to be friends with you. ? I'm not going to be museum accurate, there will be some morphing along the lines of the classic show rods. Who knows, maybe I'll sweep the Bungalow back like it's almost being blown over by a hurricane. Just looked through this WIP and saw how the exhaust will be run.
  15. I'm going to be building the '29 mixed with '31, was wondering if the exhaust can be run inside without using the headers going out down and around. This will be helpful.
  16. Another inspirational picture.
  17. Oh wow, nothing like having awesome information being dropped in my lap! If I was to duplicate the real thing, there might be about 9% of the '29 remaining, which would defeat the whole purpose. I'm not adverse to doing hot rod style, the pictures of the real car have modern wheels anyway, unlike the original car. Doing the dropped axle is undecided. I see the firewall is modified for each engine application, would need to splice with the '31. I'm hoping the hood can be used, and will match with the '29 grill. Thank you Tim Boyd!
  18. Nice rendering. I like the concept, would be a total scratch-build. I know someone in Prescott with a sedan that he restored, still has the supercharged engine.
  19. I've built this, several versions. The thing to look out for is how the chassis meets the body at the engine. There are two pins that don't want to meet up, then add the engine accessory belts smashing against the cross member. I'm not sure what the proper fix is, other than redoing the holes at the cross member. The rear wheel tubs need to be shaved at the front too. Also be sure to fill the joint seam on the wing! I won't suggest adding the missing intercoolers. ? I'm surprised Tamiya didn't include them, sort of an important aspect of the 959. Have fun, other than the nit-picking, it's a sweet kit of an iconic groundbreaking car, when everyone manufacturing exotic cars were struggling.
