  1. Seeing Scott Dixon unbuckle and crawl out of the tub of his car at Indy on his own.
  2. Every time I suggest it people go into spasms over it, but why not mold them in polystyrene like the rest of the kit. With the paints and weathering product available now there shouldn't be any problem with getting them to look right. In my opinion usually better then most of the vinyl tires with their unrealistic sheen. And as a historical note, Don Emmons was suggesting this over 50 years ago.
  3. Don't have any strictly automotive art, but this painting I did years ago of the back of a shop were a early Ford rear end and torque tube was used as an engine hoist. Most of my stuff (what little I do anymore) is more like the other 2.
  4. Had been thinking about going to the Phoenix ComicCon. Too much to do yesterday so was thinking about today. Well yesterday afternoon after he made threatening posts about offing police on some social media, this nutwad was caught inside with 3 handguns, a shot gun, miscellaneous knifes, bunch of ammo, and wearing body armor. Well now number of entrances reduced, more screening, NO PROPS (not just simulated guns) allowed. No statements on how he got it with real guns, but now everybody is put in the bind: a stormtrooper without his rifle, Obie Wan without a light saber, Bruce Lee not even allowed foam nunchucks. Too much to deal with, since with the size of the crowd and parking hassles which make me crazier it was a stretch for me to try and go anyway; but wanted to check out the art work. Oh well: other then 1st Fridays, the Art Museum is usually pretty quiet and don't use my membership enough as it is. Go sit in the Buddhist art area for awhile; or in front of my favorite Corot painting.
  5. Hey Russell, they're saying its supposed to cool down to the mid-90s by Friday for a couple of days. Then after that it will probably get serious about hot and dry.
  6. A couple of bottles of Model Master FS colors to match (close anyway) some Heller colors and 3 no. 68 drill bits. Hadn't bought any MM in a long time; with tax over 16 dollars. Wow, I still have some dime bottles of Pactra. Sign me 'old and cheap'.
  7. Thanks, John. That was what I was really trying to find out. As I said, don't do much painting and time isn't a factor so with the temperatures and lack of humidity (actually have to run a humidifier at night some) one less thing I need to buy and figure out were to store.
  8. The only one I ever knew of was Scale Models that was around from early 60s to I think into the late 70's. Slanted towards F1 and sports cars so if you're into them it would be worthwhile trying to find back issues. I like the farm modeling mag and the one on plant and construction equipment except they're too into die casts which I guess is understandable since there's not much in plastic kits.
  9. You guys will get agreement from me on that. The old coffee clutch at the counter of the local diner/coffee shop is a vanishing relic. If I ever owned a coffee shop, bookstore, hobby shop, etc. I would have cell signal jamming put in and no BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH WiFi. Ok, the troglodyte will pull the rock back over the entrance.
  10. We pretty much figured they would take off, because they had a good stage presence. Just wasn't really any of our styles. The girl whose idea it was to go had played bass in a couple of bands in LA and then later went on to become vocalist for Stone 588 a Goth band that had some success in Europe. Plus she was a fashion designer and owns one of the longer running Goth clothing stores in So Cal. Then I was more into experimental, industrial and Kraut rock.
  11. Nice photos. Another reason to get back up to the Portland area besides the food and hurting the credit card at Powell's.
  12. Wasn't a really big fan of Soundgarden, but did see what I guess was their 1st gig in So Cal. Had just got my shell on my 89 Ranger pu and some friends suggested we load up and run down to Santa Monica for this in-store concert. Remember when there were record shops and they did things like in-store concerts and meet and greets. Was a local band and presenting a new band from Seattle supporting their first record - Soundgarden. Wish I could remember the name of the store now, but memory fades. A couple of us sort of liked them, but most of the people I was with were more Goth.
  13. https://whulsey.smugmug.com/Cars/2011-01-28-J/i-5bNRhZq Dan and I were talking about the Unser Museum at the Moonlight Meeting Saturday night and I mentioned the Atomic Museum on the other side of town. Then thought about the J&R Museum in Rio Rancho, just north of Albuquerque; but didn't get back about it. So thought I'd just go ahead and post a link to it also.
  14. Reading through this thread and have been hearing about dehydrators for years. Even seen a few people in Phoenix and So Cal desert area recommending them. Really? Granted haven't been doing much painting (that implies you're almost done with something) and as someone mentioned it may be a week before I get back to something so drying time isn't a problem. But is there a actual difference in the finish from the paint maybe flashing off quicker? Which here would mean I could just set it out on the patio with something over it to keep dust off (big problem here, keep threatening to duct tape all the doors, already done the windows). I've seen the thermometer on my patio pegged at a 130 degrees on an August afternoon when the sun is hitting that wall.
  15. The ESCI kit isn't bad except the rear panel shape looks like its too squared off to my eye. Its a early car with the 'eyebows' on the headlight and a few other trim differences approx. 1967. The Hasegawa looks a little better on body shape and detail but is a later car. So if you want to do the 50th Anniversary car will say the ESCI is way to go, if you just want a Miura the Hasegawa would be the better choice.
  16. Wow, Dan, you mean I did something right...even if was my pure dumb luck. But I guess like they say; Its better to be lucky, then good.
  17. Does look like someone looked at them. Have a couple of the Revell Focus since I had a 2000 ZX3. Started doing the conversion then got rear ended by a F250 and totaled. Probably should get back to it since that one of the last cars that Ford made that I really liked and just loved the one I had. As a matter of fact am now on my 3rd one a 2017 SE since my 2nd one got t-boned by a idiot running a stop sign about a month ago. It was a 2008 so at least I get about 8 years out of them with minimal service. Surprised that Revell didn't do the tooling changes to do a ZX3 version. Guess it didn't sell that well.
  18. My ongoing 'irkness' at Microsoft and Win10. When I turned it on this morning, instead of going to the log in I got a message about checking and repairing Drive C which of course is my main hard drive. It started the usual going through a % countdown of how much is done. Now why did it need checking and repairing? What is it checking and repairing? What if I didn't want it to do anything but let me know and let ME (heresy) decide if I wanted to do it, do nothing or use a 3rd party (bigger heresy) to check it? Then once it was done the computer was just dragging. Ran it through Windows Defender Offline (which actually is pretty good) and Malwarebytes and pretty much got everything back to speed. Except for Hotmail, Outlook and MSN so maybe the big ransomware thing and whatever they're doing is slowing them down. AND I still don't know what it did.
  19. Interesting vehicles. Really like the Sentinel and Foden steam trucks. The Country conversion on the Ford tractor and the Man and Hanomag tractors are really neat also. Get so tired of seeing Mustangs, Camaros, and 32 hot rods.
  20. Gee, and here's I was thinking it might have been because they filed bankruptcy, or called home.
  21. That's great. Now with the Ferguson and the upcoming Porsche maybe the manufacturers will figure out there's a lot of people that like tractors.
  22. https://whulsey.smugmug.com/Cars/2015-05-07-Unser-Racing-Museum/i-QVkcWGDhttps://whulsey.smugmug.com/Cars/2015-05-07-Unser-Racing-Museum/i-QVkcWGD Well I guess Pikes Peak would be an alternative since the Unser family about owned it for 30 or 40 years. Definitely worth a stop and I think I missed another building that had vintage cars and trucks in it. So need to get back over there again.
  23. The Unser Museum is a good trip. Finally got there about year and half ago. Will post the photos in a separate thread. That's a nice looking midget.
