  1. Brief Saturday thread rules revu for those who stumble upon the thread but don’t want to read the whole darned thing - choose a build subject that hasn’t yet been picked from the link at the top of the thread - so we want to avoid builds of the exact same entry - not a big problem for Cobra fans - given the number of race entries -
  2. phil - [ and or duncan] - when it gets cold and you’re ready to retreat back down into the basement - wander over to the Sports cars build section and open the Sebring 64 group build thread - but start on pg 1 - see anything there that you like ??
  3. Battery very very nice …
  4. Most of the ‘64 entries used Goodyears - other than Harold’s kit tires - which are right for the Cobras - what’s a good source of Goodyears for the smaller capacity cars ?? 3D printed maybe ?
  5. friday build rules: build them as they raced - not as they are today - even the unrestored cars that grace Rev’s and the Simeone went thru dozens of changes in their competition life - so in order for me to do a proper build of 2287 I’ve got to make a dozen changes to the kit body work -which is correct for the ‘65 car- for the ‘64 Sebring car - you can - do the build 1 in qualifying trim - 2 or as on the starting grid 3 with headlights covered - 4 or with covers removed at dusk - 5. OR as the car finished - 6. OR as the car met its demise - so for example - the 33 Austin Healey finished its race on its roof - go for it …
  6. Yes but the intakes were added after 1964 - pretty sure … tail looks box stock in 64 race photos -
  7. Vmach. - Thought so - great engine kits - dibs on one of those Calif license plates- it is for the Simeone car that I’m making - 2287 - …
  8. Rex - the decal sheet was done by the late Michael Quarterman - that's some good stuff ... the printed engine - is that a 427 or a 289 - ? I think you'll want to use Harold's engine castings .
  9. does the old Monogram kit body - the one that is 25th scale and unmarked in your photos - have a little too much curve on the silhouette of the tail ...
  10. 2287 had left and right fuel tank pipes - needed left for Daytona and right for Sebring and Lemans - interesting that the car - unrestored - has just the right side pipe and fuel cap - this car clearly went through a number of changes in ‘64 and ‘65 … I think that the spoiler on the car at present was added before the Lemans race - that would make sense-
  11. Its apparent that ill have to post a running entry sheet to show who is down to build what - will do this weekend - cant do it at the moment - as I am asleep …
  12. And let us know which 904 kit you believe has the most accurate lines - there are visible differences between the Aurora kit and the Monogram …
  13. Gramps - Looks like The Cunningham team did the mods To the tail after the ‘64 race - a check of the pix on the Rev’s on line research site should confirm - but let me know if you aren’t certain ….
  14. Dan - you haven't asked your wife yet, have you ?
  15. the correct kit [sans the roof] available at Model Roundup for break the bank dollars [note - their prices are generally in line w prevailing market ...]]] I'm bidding on ebay for an open kit that has been used and abused but multiple bidders and I'll probably get clobbered ...
  16. https://vintagemotorsport.com/2022/09/01/vintage-motorsports-2022-sept-oct-issue-is-now-available/ running to Barnes and Nobles Friday I think I found the mysterious Pontiac GTO that was entered but did not show up !! someone's gotta be all over this entry ...
  17. And Adams - jim - would eventually enter his own teams - for I think - years ..
  18. Pierre - the #3 GS - looking at your pictures - must have also raced in Nassau earlier that year ... really really really good - and challenging - build tread is now off to a flying start ...
  19. Misha - Didn't notice that this is one of Frank Morrill's Sebring drives ... think he also drove the famous Jag XKE light weight in the '62 Sebring that is really cool ... and the kit hard top looks perfect ...
  20. you can nick name him - midget - but he will grow ....
  21. wait - you're gonna name your son - Kurtis - right ???
  22. just in case you were wondering - this is at least as good as the old Entex 72 - and probably a little better ... trust me - I know ... and I very much prefer the cigarette maker livery - which is weird because I am devoutly anti-tobacco ...
