    Watching the Lemans brcast yesterday - thought I had switched by mistake to a NASCAR road race … back to the engine… working with the Molotov for detail brush painting - are there any issues with shelf life for the dispenser ?? This is a good application for the ANYC printed bolts - they have thin stems and great relief detail … used for the gear case cover … the added bolts on the cylinder heads are the Russian Master Club bolt heads

    and the link to the Bring a Trailer site was appreciated elsewhere on the site is a photo feature of a baby blue Gullwing with crazy under-body details photographed ... and Tamiya actually kitted most of the features of this car - above and below

    I have photographed 3 of these beasts the nicest was a dark blue one that was shown at the Amelia Concourse about 4 yrs ago nice restrained restoration with Ridge wheels I wish the Mercedes engineers had tilted the engine to the right instead of the left all of those lovely engine details disappear under the hood and fenders - oh well ...

    This is a lesson for me and otherz like me ive not yet tackled this kit but it’s sitting patiently on a shelf waiting - I tend to get lost in the details - so that when it is finally time to paint the body the project has worn me out and I’m tempted to cut some corners- I’d sure like to get a finish like this on mine - maybe I’ll try painting the body first ….

    thanks. Dash will have all the bits and Pieces - but I’ve discovered that the frame is about 2 to 3 scale inches too far back on the monocoque - concerning but I don’t think I can correct it - the photos show the steering wheel back about 8 to 10 inches from the instrument dash - mine will have to be Closer - don’t tell anyone - our secret …

    The dash Was covered with red leather - so I sprayed on some textured gray paint - sanded lightly - now I have to figure out what shade of red - the restored Loti have a sort of medium red - the Gurney 29? - the color photos are just not good enough to answer that question …. A mystery ….
