  1. The engine has to be mounted to the frame before the frame is glued to the chass pan - so it’s on to the engine - which is nicely detailed … the steering rack casting is flimsy but fits well - think it will look fine if its carefully painted …
  2. Chassis pan - painted Alclad aluminum and then Tamiya flat black - but i masked the surface of the driving compartment - it appears unpainted on the Simeone 2287 …. The underside is weathered and scuffed up - after an adventurous debut at Daytona - the botrom of 2287 was probably worse than this …
  3. Yes, Rattlecan … And a COMPLETION DEADLINE CHANGE - The deadline is extended to March 16 - which is the date of this year’s race - so we all have two more weeks to make the starting grid -
  4. Tamiya masking tape used to mask the windshield when i painted the body - months ago - l left it on because i didn’t want to handle or damage the enamel paint finish - so i left it on and forgot about it - removed it last night and got away with it — no damage to the clear resin windshield - was probably lucky - but its another reason to like Tamiya masking tape …
  5. Most of the frame and drivetrain is flat, semi, or gloss black - but i noticed on Simeone’s website that the trans-axle case was sort of metalic red - the leaf springs and the u-joints were painted with various shades of old-stock Testor’s Metallizer lacquer paints - air-brushed and brushed … I’ve chosen Tamiya semi-gloss black for the frame … that’s a guess - 2287 - could have sported a gloss black frame in it’s early race career …
  6. The transmission is braced - but because i lengthened the frame - because i lengthened the bonnet - i had to make a new brace - and remove the old one … and make a longer trans-axle …
  7. Thats right - the resin has a tendency to - er - what was the question ??!
  8. Frame assembly on the number 10 Conra Daytona Coupe A dunk in very hot water relaxes the resin fr suspension briefly - and its now sporting spindles that are correctly aligned - then glued to the frame - followed by the lower susp arms …
  9. This is so cool - will you be able to spring-load the brake lining carriers ?
  10. Not a chance - but that looks mighty good - the rules commitee is already down at the pub for tomorrow nite - so you get a variance for a five point belt - by default -
  11. The following info has been requested by the rules commitee - what colors are the restored cars - could you post a photo please ?
  12. This will require a rules - variance - the rules commitee will hold a special meeting today …

  14. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225415954291 mr silver city - think his name is Kevin ?? researches his projects pretty carefully his built kit shows the standard turbo / wastegate set up have a look also at the photos from the Penske racing museum site - they've got the car (??) ... forgot how handsome this car was ...
  15. JR - nothing wrong with subbing the kit engine parts - but try drilling the plug wire holes in his resin - dont think you’ll have any problem - also you can try using a lubricant if you’re drilling into a solid resin part -
  16. Friendly advise, Mr Flyin: your workbench is much to neat and clean - please correct in future posts - thank you -

  18. And i love the detail on the wheel hub …
  19. There have been several good books on Sebring - Ken Breslauer did a good book on the ‘65 race - and i just got this fr Racemaker Press - about the first U.S. grand prix race - in ‘59 - at Sebring - written by the late Joel Finn - its available now for a deep discount fr the publisher …
  20. With some primer on - Tamiya - the castings are really pretty good …
  21. As mentioned earlier - Scale Kraft was the work of Guido Fieuw - i corresponded with him briefly - at the dawn of the internet - but never asked him in any detail about the source of the bodies that he used for his castings - but the castings themselves held some clues - on the Lotus 16 - the fuel and oil tank cap detail in the tail was molded in - suggesting that Guido found an obscure 24th scale slot car body - fixed it up - and cast it -
