  1. The frame is lengthened by cutting it apart just forward of the pegs and adding Renshape from the same slice used to lengthen the bonnett - should in theory be the correct length - matching the new longer bonnett …
  2. Thats right - i forgot - you’re the unique forum contributor who is brave enough to brush paint the bodies …
  3. Remember that acne medecine that you used to have to put on at night ??
  4. no - I wasn't at the '24 French Grand Prix this shot was taken at Circuit Tremblant in 2013 at their July summer vintage event - and yes, they did a track demonstration ... some times you just get lucky ...
  5. There’s an I ph ad on this page for a Monaco GP yacht travel hospitality link GOFUNDME !!!!
  6. First coat of primer - better results than expected - another thin coat of putty and some more careful sanding and the Renshape strip will disappear … next to lengthen the frame and the rocker panels …
  7. OK - Phil is down (up?) for Penske’s GS #4 …
  8. Phil - thanks for pinning me down on the wh base - i really wasn’t certain until i laid out the body on the drawing …
  9. Against the shop lamp light you can see how thin the casting is - so i want to use only a minimum amount of putty - the scientific “finger”’test tells me that there is more to be done - but I’ll probably throw some primer on this just to see how close i am …
  10. The 150 grit sanding drum took off most of the putty - followed by some random diamond bits and that odd bullet shaped sanding drum ….

  12. The wheelbase thing - i was part wrong and part right in my earlier posts - both the Model Car Mag and the later digital drawing have the correct 90 inch wheelbase - which scales to 95 mil …

  14. Phil !! andrew Mcd wants to build the Clark Lotus Cortina #59 - but but but - im planning to do one of the prototype GT40s - they were entered but never came - they weren’t ready - SO - consider building the Lotus Cortina entered (but no-showed) - for Mike Spence - . and and and - you can also post and start the Penske #4 GS - and its yours - Ill double check but pretty sure # 4 is still available - and like all of Penske’s cars - it was really well finished and presented …
  15. The new bonnett dimensions match the measurement that i took from the worn out rep daytona coupe bonnett shell … 23 ish inches to not quite 1 scale inch …
  16. The bonnett is glued back together using plastic guides and CA glue - lots of sanding now - using mostly diamond coated bits and random standing sticks - also modifying the bonnett opening designed to extract the radiator air - the first one or two Daytona Coupes had a central brace and a taper in the trailing edge - the design was simplified as “production” began …
  17. Gracias mr beer …
  18. That is some serious camber - isn’t it ?
  19. Update “allowed” indeed encouraged - really looking good - replica Daytona Coupes are actually not that rare - but they are mostly “old cars” now - you are more likely to see one sitting forlornly in the back of a mechanics workshop than at a car show - the one sitting in a corner of my mechanic’s garage - its been there for months - has what appears to be an accurate body shell - the dimension in the photo shows me that the drawings Im working fr are accurate - the length of the shell past the wheel well is just short of 24 inches - which is what I am doing in scale with the added strip of Renshape …
  20. The August 1924 European / French GP also marked the racing debut of the Bugatti 35 - this photo was originally published in Autocar …. just sayin ‘ …
