Ray, you're going to have to get the outside radiator pipe down to the same level as the shock mount, otherwise the hood's gonna stick up. I also removed the hinges because I couldn't get them to work at all, but you might get lucky with yours, I've never had any luck with kit hinges.

'65 Plymouth Satellite...The One That Got Away
Custom Mike replied to Greg Pugh's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Greg, we're a lot alike, I too grew up in a GM family, anything made by Ford or Chrysler was garbage. Then I joined the USAF, and bought a pristine '72 Charger...it was all over for me, I was in love with the Beast! When she finally had to be laid to rest, I replace her with a '71 Road Runner, but we don't talk about that car, it was possessed and wanted me dead! Love the color choice (I just used it myself!), and I'll enjoy watching you build your car...maybe one day I'll actually build my Charger! -
It's actually a really well done kit Ray, the chassis is pretty complex, but it goes together nicely. The only issue I had was with the hood sitting down all the way, it was the radiator piping causing the issue if my memory is worth a squat.

I have no doubt you'll find a way top top this Eric, you're no one-hit wonder with this kind of skill! I loved watching it come together, and still can't get past the steamer trunk/gas tank, that was a stroke of genius!
-
Beautiful Greg, simply beautiful! The color choice is perfect, the whole thing looks just right!
-
Dann, Tina, you two should build together more often, this is great! Where did you get the foam ring around the air cleaner from, I could use a ton of that!
-
The pinstriping is the prefect touch Matthew, it just looks wrong without it. I'm not 100% sold on the rims, what is the second style you've got coming?
-
Great start Ron, doing trim like that isn't the easiest thing to do, but it looks like you nailed it pretty good! Are you going to print some decals for the wood grain yourself?
-
Tina, you took one of the worst kits out there and made it look incredible, especially for your second build! I love the paint, the engine looks great, but the bed and tailgate chains are my favorite part, nice to see someone else doing that to a kit! Tell Dann it's past time you got your own account here, you deserve it!

Bill, even if it wasn't built to your normal exacting standards, I'm willing to bet it would clean up at any contest you entered it in, it's gorgeous!

I'm on the hunt for one of the custom ones, I built it as a kid and jacked it up pretty badly, I think I can do it right this time!

Cosmoline: What Paint Color 2 Simulate
Custom Mike replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I did a '68 Satellite years ago and tried to find something to resemble Cosmoline, not perfect (Too metallic and glossy), but with some flat clear it might work. The color is Citadel Colors Burnished Gold. -
Harry, a useless single speed (42/17 gearing) 24" BMX bike propelled me to a State Championship back in '87, I have no use for multiple gears to this day. More moving parts means more things I have to keep adjusted!
-
Yup, know the feeling. But like they say, all good things must come to an end. But do they have to be so messy and ugly?
-
Excellent color choice! I'm waiting to see just how well this kit goes together, I'm trying to find a reason to not buy one...I'm waiting for the Ventura!
-
Beautiful work Pat, nice to know you're still out there cranking out builds. That paint is really unique, I'm gonna have to try that one day!
-
Gorgeous replica Dann! What did you use for the radiator hose clamp? That looks like the real thing!
-
I'm gonna enjoy this one, another kit I wish they would re-issue! Would the GT stripes from the '66 Fairlane be right for this one? Forgive my ignorance, but I'm more of a GM and Mopar guy!
-
Looks like I'm not the first to add ground effects to a Matador....at least mine was on a model though!
-
Great job on the exhaust manifolds David, just the right amount of rust! Didn't this kit's engine have a hole through it for the axle? If not, I've gotta find one, it would be much easier than filling the hole in the one that came with my Javelin!
-
Kevin, if you see one, grab it, it's a great kit! Two engines (392 HEMI and a gorgeous 302), optional '40 Ford dash, two different styles of headlights (Highboy or Coupe), louvered or smooth trunk and hood sides, this kit is loaded with great parts, and it builds up beautifully!

This is a great kit Kenneth, you're gonna love it!
