I use a small dab of clear silicone....quite tacky! Plenty of time to align & thick enough to hold & leave it the heck alone til cured. If still not quite right...peel it off & do it again.

Your on a very good start with your build.....Well done! ...so far! As Rusty mentioned...fitment! ... for "ride height" look up an article by Doug Whyte...The Whyte Way (ScaleAuto) he shows excellent tips while building Dale's car....should help you through it. There is a situation of "which track" those certain pictures represent...you have different configurations for "weight" & "panel strength"....teams had different configurations for short track & super speedways

I found this seller on ebay totally by accident looking for an item (which I bought) may cater more to your project for detail items. The yellow Box art kit has the faceted air cleaner with the 3 impressions on underside on the chrome tree. But only has the single 4 barrel carb & intake manifold...or the dual quads on the blower included.

Is this the set up you're referring to? I know it isn't much help, but the air cleaner is in this kit...no manifold or carbs.

Talented operator as well!! Didn't roll it & managed its obstacles quite well.
