  1. I looked again, nothing. It will turn up. I have also lost a resin Nova stock car body some years back. I looked in all my promo type boxes, inside all my open Nova kits too. I had a Monte Carlo Savinos stock car kit open, I removed all the flash, etc from everything. I went back to it this year, the rear and every thing associated were gone. I figured maybe the sealed kit was missing parts? Nah... they all turned up in a pill vial I squirreled away.
  2. Tamiya Silver Leaf would look good on them.
  3. The show went off pretty well. I have to see what the numbers are, compared to 2023 which was almost break-even. The hall rental is $2000 for the day, no wiggle room. The trophy ? package is $1400. So we are in the discussion phase of considering a new venue. The Friday night set up pictures show how big the place is. I even took hone some of the loot.
  4. I was getting my models together yesterday to take to a show tomorrow. All accounted for, less my '65 Fairlane stock car. I did take it to the NNL East in April and it came home with me. I have to look in my phone photo gallery to find a "last seen" date if possible. I'm not sure what have it in, probably a clear plastic box, maybe an old kit box. But I always label those. So far I have scoured my basement kit shelves, the dining room where I build, the front foyer. I have a lot to do today for the show tomorrow, so I'll give it a 1/2 hour.
  5. My cat ? sits on my bedroom window sill and howls at something he sees outside in the wee hours. Likely raccoons or possums. I believe that something has taken both of my rabbits ? out.
  6. We do a food bank at where our model meetings take place. They don't accept expired items. Even my kids won't take expired things for free. I had stocked up a few years ago during the pandemic. All of that is gone, either consumed or chucked out.
  7. I have a table that will be about 1/2 way down against the left side wall. I'm the old bald guy with a couple of tattoos, can't miss me. We likely do know each other. I'll give you the double secret LIARS discount.
  8. I'll see if Matt comes to our model show (Long Island LIARS. Freeport NY) tomorrow, he has supported the show fir a long time.
  9. I got a can of the Revell stuff, have yet to try it.
  10. In town, there was a very hot Vega wagon built by Ted Dzus, of the Dzus fastener family. It was called Plain Brown Wrapper and was in at least one car magazine. The car was kept in one of the garages on the factory compound. I would go past and see it once in a while. I never found out what happened to it. I would run into Ted now and then at a Chevy dealer parts counter around 1975. The Dzus facility was a hotbed of controversy. It was a Super Fund clean up site and deemed responsible for a number of serious cancers due to groundwater contamination. The site was razed maybe 8 years ago. Now it is a 7-11 with a gas station, a plates studio, a failed taco shop and a few un-rented stores.
  11. My mom had us dig up the snow in the area and dump it in the street. But it was cold and it stayed with us until it melted.
  12. I went to auto school in 1973 with a guy who worked at Motion. The V8 Vega was hot at the time. They sold a bunch in the middle east and they were driven hard. One rich kid blew the 12 bolt rear in his Vega and this guy was flown out to Saudi Arabia with tools, a couple helpers and a fresh rear in the cargo hold.
  13. I thought they were only used to store "herbs" in, back in the day. I saw someone take film out of one, I thought that was a novel use of the containers.
  14. I had an altercation with some ghost pepper wings at a taco place last Friday. Yesterday was the first day where I could eat normally. I am taking it easy however. Normally I have a cast iron stomach. Lately.. not so much. Goes with aging I suppose. I am turning into my dad. I had to take food safety classes when I was outdoor-trained for scouting. And we stuck to the guidelines, as a few times we cooked for 100+ people. My girlfriend had a party at her house after this past New Year's. She had it catered and anyone who had the chicken Marseilles hero, including me were "intestinally indisposed". I was lucky it was only from one end.
  15. I was around 11... 2 of our outdoor tom cats ran down a large rabbit in the snow in the front yard. Holy crime scene Batman... they managed to turn it inside out.
  16. Court complex out east? I'll probably hit Bellmore and 231 for the rest of the year. The herd will move to Captree on Sunday mornings.
  17. This is like when Hostess Twinkies were being discontinued. I hadn't had one in 20 years... but had a fierce Jones for one suddenly.
  18. I have to look for that on Blue Ray. Another great racing movie is Grand Prix from 1966 with James Garner. I catch it on demand via TCM. There are a few real drivers that did cameo spots in the film. Garner was one of the very few that did his actual driving footage.
  19. I like this idea ?. I'll have to look gor something similar. I'm currently using old end mill tubes.
  20. Greg Sacks was a local modified driver when I was racing. I'd see him in the pits every weekend, we often ran 2 nights a week on the Island. Given his WC career, he may have made more money chasing big modified races. He took over the Wilsberg #5 after Charlie Jarzombek got killed in 1987.
  21. I do toss anything suspect. Especially things in jars. I ran across a ketchup bottle from 2011... it looked more like dried blood. Also a can of old condensed milk that appeared to.have turned solid.
  22. He played a good but flawed part. I'll call him the highlight of the movie.
  23. Not a great picture and still a bit dark, the bluejays showed up for breakfast.
  24. Good going. My brother retired from the US Army in 2003. He put in his 20 and took the pension. Despite having a masters degree he only made Staff Sergeant. He had and still has a way of rubbing people the wrong way.
  25. I recently opened a brownie mix that expired in 2014... what the heck... I cooked it up and it was fine. A few years ago I ran across a box of Velveeta cheese/shells family dinner. It was 5 years expired. The cheese packet was intact, so I went for it. I'm still alive and it tasted great. Canned stuff like Spam... I'd be leery of having it around in case the can finally decided to bust a seam.
