  1. The success with this car was that for that string of races, they used ONE car. They just swapped parts around from track to track. This was not far from the days where drivers struggled with the mandated radial tires.
  2. I took the Belair out to this nice cruise at a church parking lot. It draws a good number of cars and there us a $2 donation.
  3. Tires and wheels are from Ron Coon. Tires are either T1 or T11 modifieds. Wheels are 3/8" deep wide 5.
  4. This show pulls cars from all over, NYC to Montauk. So we get to see new and exciting stuff. Some Chevy dealer had a COPO Camaro there a couple years back... only $65,000 with no drive train. My buddy was trying to goad me into buying it.
  5. The Belair had a pull to the left. I adjusted the caster on the driver side via the strut rod. Now it goes straight. Photo is by the Fire Island lighthouse, 10 miles from home.
  6. Looks like a day 1 car... far too pretty. By week 3 it will be a tad more "seasoned".
  7. Spent the last few days putting all new springs in the Belair at a friend's shop. The caveat was that it had to be done and out by Monday morning. We finished at noon on Sunday. The rears we did on Friday after hours. My brother showed up and ran with it.. he was a huge help. Saturday we tackled the fronts. Despite having the lift, spring compressors and every tool under the sun, we got ONE side done in 4.5 hours. And it sat a mile high.. I made the decision to take it out and lop 2 coils out of it. Much better! Sunday, the 2nd one took 2 hours flat. To get the strut rod nuts loose, this required the blue wrench. I have a bad cut on one finger, a large bruise on my chest, no hair on one hand and a few scrapes on my head. But it rides much better. Threw some front end parts into it plus new shocks. I'll have the use of a rack soon so I can align it.
  8. The Long Island LIARS club is on November 9th in Freeport NY. It is a pretty decent show with around 300 cars on the table. The vendors sell out every year.
  9. I use primers that go on thin and cover well. As not to lose detail, I like Tamiya and Mr. Hobby primers.
  10. I worked with a guy who was having chest pains at work, 2 years before my HA. He refused and offers to go to the ER and went home. His wife came home and wanted to take him to the ER. He said he would go to the family doctor in the morning. Well... he never made it to the next day. This is probably part of what saved me. Almost 8 years ago to this day.
  11. Lately I have been using the Pro Tech ones. I like the DM ones but they are a lot of work.
  12. I forget if I had to pre register to enter. I tool the '59 Ford there in 2018 or 2019 and it was raining some of the time. The last time it was blistering hot and there is zero shade.
  13. Some smaller 3D printed parts I will not prime. The surface takes paint well. Anything else I will prime first. I recall using candy paints as a kid... I was not hip that they required a gold or silver under coat.
  14. I like the progress. I raced with a guy in 1983 that was a local radio station disc jockey. The station sponsored the car. Which was a similar Cutlass. One time the driver was in a panic before the race... he had misplaced the ignition key... he actually still had the stock dash in the car.
  15. I was working on the Belair and skipped it. It was a hot day for sure. This venue is close to my house. I was there a couple of years back to spectate. Definitely some great cars to see.
  16. I was a hot mess in comparison to those who go into surgery like civilized folk. I drove myself to the ER, the hospital was 4 miles down the causeway by my house. I got a rock star parking spot, made 2 calls to people on the way into the ER. Once in triage, the last thing I remember was having my BP checked.
  17. I have a couple of Mack brushes that pretty nice. My brother had a neighbor whose late husband worked in a place that sold brushes. She gave us a bunch of them. They were all sabels.
  18. I was in the pool yesterday skimming off acorns and leaves. I rescued a bumble bee that was not doing well. The bee crawled up my hand and sat on my wrist until I was done. I let it go near a flower bed.
  19. Good luck. I had a triple done in 2016 and I was the guy who coded in the ER. I was kept in a coma for almost 5 days. So my recovery was tougher than most. I was out of work for 3 months, I should have stayed out. SSDI pays more than SS. I was only 61 at the time. I had people around to help. I had 12 sessions of home PT and a nurse that came by once a week. The cats stayed close to me.
  20. I haven't seen the woodpecker lately, the male shows up now and then. I have 2 female cardinals. 1 must be a juvenile. They were here for breakfast. Another one that also was in attendance was a catbird. They are interesting birds, in the mimid class. They are fairly friendly and will sit on the fence jawing at me.
  21. 2 of Ivan. The one on the floor he was about 6 months old. The other, he likes to sit on the stairs so he can see everything.
  22. I had no less than a dozen black birds on my deck rail earlier. Usually I see a few only. Other mornings I have had a similar number of Mourning Doves.
  23. Nice work. I have one started. Going for a phantom Harry Gant ride. I was not able to drop the rear as low as i wanted and used a NASCAR donor chassis under it.
  24. I like flavored seltzers best. I look foe sales. I buy Pellegrino mineral water as well.
  25. Some colors are rarer than others thus will bring a higher price. Look on eBay to get an idea on pricing. Take a small amount of them and put them up for bidding, set a reserve. Offer free shipping which is always attractive.
