  1. That along with the "180 degree cookbook". Prison hot water is HOT....
  2. Very well done. I have a few of those too, IIRC Toys R Us had a run of those around 1999. I probably have every issue of the '36 less the Flower Power one. I did build that as a kid.
  3. Most wheels came in black, so that is my best guess as well.
  4. My girlfriend was driving on a back road.. stops for a stop sign and sees a hawk tearing apart a live Bluejay. She said that the hawk looked her right in the eye... like she was next. Her sister has a small-ish puppy and they watch her when she is outside. The crows by me will take off with baby birds from nests.
  5. In the spring and fall, birds must think that they can fly through my house. The light must be just right. Some hit my front windows with a loud BONK... most of the time they fly right off, sometimes they break their necks. A couple of times I pick them up and hold them until they recover. I had a catbird do that last. I sat on my front steps and got a great look at him or her. They have some really great rust-colored feathers on their underside.
  6. I'm looking forward to going. Last year I had a bad cold and stayed home. I like to take the ferry both ways, costs a bit but far more relaxing.
  7. The best source for something like that was Randy Ayers NASCAR model forum which folded up recently. I have not looked, maybe there is a read-only version of it.
  8. My dad lived way out east on the Island and on the way out we would see large flocks of wild turkeys off the road, as many as 30 was one estimate. His place backed up to a county park and we would see small groups of 3 and 4 passing by.
  9. At least you will go out smiling. I could use a few things for sammiches next week. Some places used to have ham-swiss combos on sale, I will have to see if they have anything going on right now.
  10. My girlfriend lives in the sticks, east and north of me by 30 miles. She has 2 groundhogs that she has seen in her 1/2 acre + yard. If you have small animals, the hawks will be eyeballing them outside. They will tear smaller birds like bluejays apart on the ground. She has seen a dozen wild turkeys waltzing down the street going past her house. She is not far from where Tesla had set up shop years ago. RCA had a large tract of property there, I'm not sure if it is still vacant. All the streets in the area have Tesla-ish names like Radio, Echo, etc. Edit: This is something I came up with the OG RCA property from 1921. It was 9000 acres. I used to camp there around 1969. Packs of wild dogs lived there and it was wise to avoid them. https://ethw.org/Milestones:RCA_Central,_1921
  11. Same deal by me and I still buy the brand. I just finished some ham and turkey I was using for sandwiches. The source of the problem was identified and contained. Each BH distributor is privately owned and operated. I knew someone with a route, he paid $250k for it around 1980, he sold it (not sure when) for $400k.
  12. I have used some old JnJ sheets with no problems. I mainly have hoarded them up for some of the numbers and sponsors only.
  13. I have one of those heaters in a box with my camping gear, something my dad came up with a long time ago. I have a white fuel stove too, again, something I have never used. The little Coleman propane stove has come in handy and I have used it in recent years when we had hurricanes. My family did a lot of tent camping from 1967 to I'd say 1977, then my mom was not doing well. My last trip with them was in 1976, They had upgraded to a Coleman pop-up trailer. I have most of the gear in my garage, my dad made up a large-ish cook box that was a traveling kitchen. My brother used it a few years ago to camp at Pocono Raceway. The OG tent from 1967 I used a few times until dry rot took it out. I had a nice Sears tent, a 9' x 12' which was great until my son was somewhere setting up in the dark, gave up on it and lost a critical piece to it. That one I camped with from 1985-1987 then used it on scout trips from 1997 to around 2010.
  14. I was a a big fan of his on YT. Definitely a guy who will be missed.
  15. I may have one of those old lanterns in my garage, I never liked fussing with the white gas part of it. I can see why you want to keep it and you should. I have the old propane family lantern from around 1967 and it works, I bought one for myself around 1985 when I started camping again.
  16. Mantles are easy to come by and it never hurts to have spares. They keep until they are fired up, I have had few survive once they were used. They are fragile. Mine is propane, yours uses white gas, aka Coleman fuel. I have seen it in stores. I would give it a good cleaning, I'm not sure if it has o-rings in it or not. Parts are available. https://www.oldcolemanparts.com/select-your-model-here/SELECT-LANTERN-MODEL/models-1-thru-300/243-s/243A/ Edit: These are worth some bucks even as it. My advice, sell it and get a propane model. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=coleman+243a+lantern&_sacat=16034&_odkw=coleman+243a+lantern&_osacat=16034
  17. I back up to state land and I used to see fox now and then. I even saw a momma fox with 4 little ones with her. Also raccoon families.
  18. The AMT '65 Ford kit has one in it.
  19. That is likely a JnJ decal sheet. I have at least one around. Crown gas stations were around, I would say at least in 1977, then they were gone.
  20. Can't miss with black and red... those were the golfer Lee Trevino's colors when he was playing.
  21. I stopped using car polishing compounds, one I used has a silicone in the ingredients and I couldn't get the decals to stick to the body. My go-to is toothpaste. I'm using an Arm & Hammer one currently.
  22. My yard was a mess when I moved in almost 38 years ago. I had all sorts of weeds taller than me. Also Queen Ann's Lace wild flowers. I was out back and marveled at how big of a bee was hovering over them... 2nd look and it was a humming bird. I have a feeder set up now and then over the years, I refresh the nectar mix... but have not seen one since. My girlfriend has a large piece of property out east and north of me, she has a great supply of hummingbirds.
  23. Re-skinning older cars was a common practice back in the day. All of that is out the window with the new Cup cars. In 1966, Bobby Allison petitioned NASCAR to be able to use a Holman Moody front clip under his 1964 Chevelle, they said NO. So he laid one out on the garage floor in chalk and built his own. This was The #2 car. It won quite a bit over some fast "factory" built cars.
  24. I have a few mockingbirds, they stay to the ground like the robins. They don't mix with the birds that eat the seed and peanuts I put out. My one neighbor had a nest of mockingbirds outside his bedroom window in a tree.... they made a racket all night long. He finally took the tree down.
