Shelley Duvall (The Shining),has passed away.
bobss396 replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The Nicholson characterization was too far over the top. They should have reeled him in a notch or 2. I saw it ONCE and that was enough. Maybe since I had read the book first, the movie let me down. I guess if you had not read the book, you may have liked the movie. -

I can get some newer disc brake wheels, also some from Vintiques thet will clear the calipers. I'm sort of done throwing lots of money at the car right now. The SS caps are a good look on the car. I believe they are re-pops. -

I thought she almost single-handedly ruined The Shining, the REDRUM kid put the finishing touch on it. I will call it one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I saw it once, never watched it again. -
Anything with putty, goes into the dehydrator. Not for long since I use very little. 20 minutes does it and it will not shrink after that.

why did round 2 switch tire brands
bobss396 replied to michelle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Modelhaus used to have Firestone on his tires, until he got a cease-and-desist letter from a lawyer. This is why I believe that tire lettering sources like Shabo have gone away. I have a few of those AMT parts pack tires to fall back on. -
I used to use Nitrostan in the big tubes, the cap is very shallow and I had a couple of tubes go bad. Now all I use is one from 3M or Bondo brand. Nothing else is as good IMO.

Looking for aftermarket site

His dad was a great caster, Ed senior. No longer with us. I used to run into him when he sold at shows. I still have some of his stuff like skirts and other odd pieces. -

Keeping it stock, the previous owner leased it out for movies. I have to check into that. The wheels are off a Camaro, I wanted to use poverty caps but no way to hold them on. -
Nothing has to be odder than tripe or snails. The stepmother used to cook up tripe... no thanks.

I was not able to see under it all, the entire front foam for sure and the bad spring section. The sill plates are installed and I took it for about a 10 mile run. -

I made a pot of chili yesterday. Worked on the car outside until it got too hot in full sun. I had a few big jalapenos to pick in the patio pots. I used a pound of Botto brand hot sausage (out of the casings), a pound of boneless chicken thighs (seasoned and grilled) chopped up. The usual biggest yellow onion and green pepper I could find, a whole bulb of garlic, cilantro, celery, spices, Better Than Boullion (turkey flavor), a 1/2 can of beer and crushed tomatoes. Goya Sazon, 2 packets. It came out good... also a habanero pepper I had vacuum sealed from the freezer. I added some cayenne to it. It has a decent kick, but not rude.

1969 Nascar Champion David Pearson

Outstanding build. The colors are just right, decals too. IMO he was better than Petty, as he only ran partial schedules, Petty rarely missed a race. -

The seats are DONE. Even the arm rests look great. So far I have the arm rests on... but the driveway is in full sun. My buddy is coming over around 5 to help with the seats. All I need is to get some of the front bolts started Even the pool is on the warm side at 85. -
Chopped 1934 Ford 5 window coupe body
bobss396 replied to krassandbernie's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have a lot of old resin bodies around, from Ed, a Ron Cash chopped '40 Ford and so on. Also a flawless '48 Ford coupe from Perry's Resin. He made great stuff, haven't seen him around in at least 15 years. Modelhaus, he made more later products, he is still kickin' but no longer casting. His son took over the wheel and tire business. -
I like it a lot... great concept and execution. I wonder if the '59 kit would also work.. I have a few of those.

model kit production question
bobss396 replied to jphillips1970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I had grabbed the ear of one of the Atlantis guys at the NNL East. I have a vision of a stock car series, short track stuff. I ran it by him and he flatly said they would not be interested. -
Now I recall, my dad had one started. The OG 1961 issue, he got maybe 1/2 way done with it. The car is long gone, but I still have the box.

I built a couple, newer than yours. The last was likely the 1969 issue. Nice to see an old one done up right.
