What clear over tire lettering decals
bobss396 replied to Steve H's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a bunch here with a $5 price sticker on them. Empire Hobby in Michigan used to bring some to shows, I should shoot him an email. Nobody on eBay has any. I probably have not seen any around in the past 8 to 10 years. -
I had some resin stock car wheels react with AMT kit wide ovals, turned the tires to mush. This was (another!) stalled project put back in the box.

I back up to 2 major highways, I have only one neighbor next to me on a double plot, the house is far from me.

I have not seen Shabo transfers for a while, usually I see them at model shows. I have a good stash but they have a shelf life issue. I have looked at some suppliers, even eBay, nothing. -
A few more of the girls last night. Brie and Bleu. Brie is the one with the white paws. Quite the love bug.

Ivan's mom is a Russian Blue, this is where he gets his exotic look from.

Prince just about buried everyone else there.

Someone (not sure if it is JF or not) sells some of his line on eBay. -
I like the seat cover idea, I'll have to try it.

At work, one guy used to save me these small containers that connector contacts came in. They were ESD pink and the tops closed real tight. Small enough to store in the kit boxes. I do label everything I store.

Looks nice. One guy in my club, he brushes some acrylic on shiny cardboard and presses the tire letters onto that. So far everything he shows us looks mint.

Firestone white wall tires needed

Check out Jay's Resin Wheels for steelies and wide whites. I like getting tires AND wheels from the same source to avoid fit issues. I had stocked up on what Modelhaus used to sell at shows, that supply is dwindling. Norm Veber has a few WW tire sets too. -

I do a lot of decals and Shabo transfers and have always used Testors Dull Cote over them. I go with 2 light coats. -
The '59 Ford lives in the garage, my "new" '66 Belair will be kept outside for now. The neighbors are cool. One guy a few houses down has a few cars including a '74 Camaro. My one friend down the block some more has a '68 Roadrunner that is a track car. Another on my block has a nice '88 Vette. I have a long driveway and am on a dead-end. After 38 years here, I have never had anyone complain.

Modelhaus was forced to take the Firestone logo off their tires at some point, Don's son now sells the line of tires and wheels. -
I got 2 cars going right now, both are running and moving. I need to get the 2nd one insured and registered.

This is pretty much what I do. I get stuck and put it back in the box. There are certain things I do not like to do, as in stock car seat belts. I have dug out things that I put away 20 years ago and finally overcame that hurdle. My oldest now is a '60 Chevy tow truck. I did some work on it last year, I started it in 1999. I probably have around 25 stalled projects.

I have seen steel wheels and those old 5-gallon oil jugs tied to gas station bathroom keys.... -
Wet sand/ buff/ vs clear coat?
bobss396 replied to Nicholas's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have been using the MM Extreme Lacquers lately and their clear is quite good. So good, I'll lay down a final coat and not touch it from there. I can do this with the Tamiya TS line too. -
Most of the Monogram kits had dual shocks in the rear. How accurate to the actual car, no clue. It may have varied from track to track as well.

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?

Got the front brakes back in. Had the rotors cut, new pads and hardware. I greased the new front end parts. I'm waiting to hear back from Hagerty with a quote early next week. New 215/75-14 tires are mounted up. The wheels are 7" from a Camaro and look good. -
Chassis fitment of AMT '69 Camaro......

I do the same thing. Everything is pinned so it goes together the same way. I will have a body off a car quite a few times during a build. The worst case is the MPC modified kits. There is nothing that makes the assembly easy. -

I was in a 37 car main in 1984, 50 laps double points too. It had rained earlier so the field was picked by money earned. I started on the pole since I missed a bunch of races. I had a 327 under the hood from a car I was going to junk. I went from 1st to 25th in one lap. It had a dead spot so I had to get on the gas way earlier. I did wind up with a 5th place finish.
