Then I will just have to build another and try that... thanks!

The crashed version could be interesting too... -
Clear blue, interesting... probably gives it a lot more depth.

1/24 Scale Seat Belt Buckles?
bobss396 replied to Noah H.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have been using Scale Motorsports 1/20 scale belt hardware. It is not that much bigger and is a lot easier to deal with. -
For me, I try to avoid gloss black paint jobs, they are very unforgiving. Tamiya and Model Master Lacquers have nice metallic blacks. Or you can go clear pearl (TS-65) over the gloss black. Going gloss, the primer has to be as smooth as a baby's backside. Tamiya and Hobby Lobby both have good primers that are exceptionally smooth out of the can. Black hides nothing, significant scratches will show through a clear coat. I have been trying to lay down a clear coat that does not require a polishing. Which is hit or miss, I have a heavy hand with finishes and clears in general.

I lived in the world of NASCAR modifieds growing up. From the injected coupes, to the Vegas and Pintos, onto the newer sleek Cavalier bodies ones. The MPC kit is actually a starting point and not much more. I end up changing so much of it. I would work with any model company that wanted to make up a better more realistic one. I think that the market is there.

That is why he was acquitted. The judge made a huge error in judgement letting the media cover it the way they did.

I missed that one, but plan on taking my Ford before it gets too hot out. I have to sort a few things out on it hopefully this coming week. The venue is great, they have a food truck each week and an ice cream truck once in a while. It pulls a lot of cars. It faces west and the summer sun is brutal. If I go this coming week, I might drive my Mustang.

It helps to have real medical-quality tweezers to start with. Most of the hobby ones are too flimsy. Even used quality tweezers are good, I used to come across them at work.

I agree on the TS-46 advice, I just used in on my wrecker interior. Play around with the primer colors, I did mine over gray primer.

I like these over what Ron has, I have lots of his wheels and tires that I used on my two Fairlane builds. One guy in the club is a 3D printing guru so I have to talk with him. The OG source was a place called Nutmeg Hobbies in Virginia, I probably got these 15 years ago at a show. I still have more of them.

I have made a couple of them for other (stalled) projects in recent months. In this case they had to clear the injector stacks.

I won't know what is going on until the Thursday before the NNL East. I will let you know.

I used to enjoy the Masscar shows, too bad that the club folded up. We came very close too. In 2022 we got talked into having our meetings at a hall that was shared by a 1:1 car club at no charge. The hidden-agenda was that the car club need a minimum number of people in attendance, the same went for our hall in Blue Point. So we were seat fillers. There was friction between the 2 clubs, it came close to getting ugly a couple of times. Plus we found ourselves locked out of the venue twice. So for 2023 we were able to get our usual date back in Blue Point which runs us $480 per year. The club also had a bad element in it, which is now gone thankfully. There was a leadership change in the club that helped us get back on track.

Those are great kits. I did one with Bill Elliott Slixx decals.

Out of .020" styrene and some angle stock.

Back on the Pinto. It has been close to being done, ran into some snags and put it aside. Paint is Model Master Lacquer and their clear coat. I'm not going to polish it. Wheels I got at a show from a vendor called Nutmeg Hobby. I would love to get more. I'm going to look into having them printed. Lug nuts are Detail Master hex fittings. I just made up the radiator details.

Lots of long-term members are MIA for years and POOF... they make a meeting. Out of all members today, there are about 5 or 6 us around that started with me. We have had quite a few new members last year and this year. The club tried a new venue in 2022 that was a total bust, so we are back in Blue Point since 2023. I have only missed a very few meetings since 1998 only because I was sick, I had a couple of college courses that caused me to miss the Thursday meetings for a semester. I even made the October meeting after my 2016 heart bypass, I was home from the hospital, 10 days after I came home. I made the meeting in June of 2014 a week after my wife's wake. I never sleep late, my back pain issue plus a hungry cat always gets me up. I was up at 5:45 today with the t-storm, which scares the cat so I was there for him. I generally am in bed by 10, up at 7 at the latest. I missed Replicon this year with lower back pain, I almost went to the ER with it. The next Monday I was at pain management for a cortisone shot and got an rx for steroids. I will be at the NNL East even in a body bag. My first model magazine shoot was at the Radisson show in 1998, a '65 Ford stock car that made the Scale Auto contest issue. My last was in 2023 for Model Cars Magazine, a '49 Ford gasser. The last trophy I won was at Replicon last year. I had one car in Fine Scale Modeler around 2009. All told, 13 magazine appearances. Trophies, I would have to do a serious count of them all. They range from pieces of paper to a 3' tall one. Good luck with your dad, my brother was taking care of my dad quite a bit and brought him to some club meetings. The old guy enjoyed it although nobody was building B24 bombers.

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
bobss396 replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I have things going and coming in the mail all the time, mainly model stuff and 1:1 car parts, some tools as well. This is since around 1998, I have never lost a package either way. I have had some delays, but very few, like 3 total. I have had damaged 1:1 car parts arrive at my house due to poor packaging by the seller. My eBay activity is close to 1800 transactions. Maybe I am lucky, maybe it is the shipping route to Long Island. I worked with a guy that sold guitars, guitar parts and amps, effect pedals, etc. He was 3 for 3 with the USPS losing things on him. He swore by FEDEX. I had a Summit order arrive via UPS a couple of years ago, someone there opened the box and swapped my car parts for plastic pipe elbows. Summit made good on it. -
The wheels are quite nice. I was able to find wheel backs for the fronts. I was able to find aluminum tubing to locate the rears.

The Radisson was not the worst venue. I won a best in show award one year and they had to find me in the bar ?. You should come to a meeting in Blue Point, every 3rd Thursday at 7. This month it falls on the 18th. We meet at the Henrietta Acompura Lodge on Montauk Hwy. Take Nichols Road south to the end, hang a left. The lodge is a 1/4 mile on the left just past King Kullen.

Sort of box stock-ish. Wheels and tires are from Jay's Resin Wheels. Headers are 3D printed, possibly VCG Resins. Stacks is got on eBay. Hood scoop I made up. Paint is Tamiya Dull Red with Mr. Hobby matte clear. Decals are from the kit. I opened the rear wells up to fit the tires. I took the chrome trim off the body.

1977 GMC Wrecker DONE
bobss396 posted a topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Finally finished it up. I'm also happy with it. The engine, brake booster/master and shifter are VCG Resins. Wheels and tires are Jay's Resin Wheels. Boom and tow truck parts are from a lot I picked up on eBay. Paint is Tamiya, I went with Ace Hardware gray on the chassis since it holds up to being manhandled. The grille was opened from the back. Decals are Chimneyville. The front bumper and tow plate are 100% scratch built. Light Bar is an AMT parts pack item. I have another in the works started in 1999.
