I know what you mean. Back in '84 my grandfather gave me an original 1961 edition AMT Double T kit. Of course I'd no idea that the kit was never released again after '61 and didn't learn of its rarity until years after. I was a kid. I built it, and rebuilt it, and rebuilt it.................until it was trash. And threw it away. For years I agonized about it. Thankfully Round 2 found all the molds and re-released it.

Whatever trips your trigger Luke. I made it a year because work, weather, and our lives in general get in the way of building a lot of the time. Look at the Cannonball CBP. 20+ people signed on to start in Feb. but only seven people completed their model in 10 months. Since this is just for fun, an open time frame seemed the best idea.

I fully intend to. The '66 will be built just as it is and I will shine it up. Eventually. It's not perfect, but it sure is different. And that's what I'm all about. Post it up Jim, as long as we're not breaking any rules doing so.

Yeah those Camaros are not nearly accurately shaped, but I'd love to get my hands on a couple of those dual turbo'd engines.

Well I think we have enough interest in this to make a go of it. I'll start up an official build thread before the first of the year. This should be fun.

I leave my kits in their original boxes until I start building and then into a plastic shoebox is goes. No folds or flaps to loose parts in. Itty-bitty parts go into a small tupperware snack container with lid.

You know I think I'm going to leave it as is. It's over a base of tan, and I think the purple mess looks kinda cool and certainly unique. After a few days to dry, weather permitting I'll hit it with some gloss clear and see how it looks. This is not a new idea. This method has been around for years, but few people take the time to do it because its not something you see on 1:1 automobiles. Glad you guys like it.

We don't see someone scratchbuilding a steering wheel very often. Is there something particular you want that might be available elsewhere?

Mike, welcome back. You asked for feedback so here it is. Clean up every part. Sprue tabs, mold lines, excess flash. Get some sanding sticks at your local beauty supply store (nail care aisle) to help with this.
