What Was the First Band You Saw in Concert?
Jantrix replied to Snake45's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
All right, no laughing now. ? My first concert was these guys. Back in the late seventies they had their own TV show and my folks loved the 50's music, so I watched it and liked it. My folks got tickets when they came to Long Island, in '78 when I was 10. For those that aren't familiar with them, they were the band that played at the dance, in Grease. A young struggling comedian named Jay Leno was the opening act. -
I wanna see Rogers version.

Chevy LUV

Same here. I intend some chassis/drivetrain modifications. If its going to be a nightmare to glue or cut. I think I'll pass for now. -
Thanks to both of you. This will do nicely I think. I'm planning a cool JDM-esque build and wanted to see if the chassis looked like it would be a nightmare to modify, but this looks doable as far as getting it lower. The body with the bolt on flares would lend itself well to the idea.

Does anyone have a chassis shot or maybe a glimse of the instructions for the chassis assembly?

I quite agree. I'm mostly hoping for some that are decent looking. Sidepipes in a lot of kits are kinda crude. I have some .............somewhere. Gotta findem. ?

Thanks Dann, I'm enjoying it.

I've found that it is the dream for some, but for others, not so much. Which I do understand. Not everyone has the fortitude to harvest an animal or the generally icky daily mainteneance, on top of the standard 40 hour grind. a large part of farming is poo management. My biggest goal is just to keep it as small as possible when it comes to animals.

She's finally up on all four paws. The wheels look worlds better without the chrome. The intake will be here in about three weeks. I'll be doing a grey/red interior in the meantime. I need to find some nice sidepipes.

Nothing fancy, just the simple vegies that the wife and I enjoy. The basics. Thanks. We are the last home in the canyon with electricity. However, I have a 10 year plan to be off grid by the time the place is paid for. Solar and wind are no brainers here. I've added a 12V solar system for lighting the barn/barnyard that works perfectly. We are getting our first heffer (belted Galloway/Angus crossbreed) this month and another when shes weaned this fall. We will breed them via AI and harvest the babies after two years. I'd really like to be as close to self sustaining as possible, as soon as possible. My wife and I aren't awesome savers/investors, sadly. So this is the retirement plan.

Automotive (and other) toys from our childhood
Jantrix replied to Harry P.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
You guys might laugh me off the forums for this, but I can't tell you all the happy moments this game has given me throughout my life. I met my wife (27 years now) and my best friend through this game and many of the people I've played with throughout my life, I'm still friends with today. I started in 1981, and today I play with my sons gaming group, so it seems I've passed on the table-top gaming gene. Like modeling, I can't imagine my life without it. -

Jantrix replied to Gumball's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It happens. I had someone spot one on a painted, cleared and foiled body. -

Mold lines? -
You gotta love a nice clean build with great paint. Well done sir!

Thanks Joe. I think it would be a lot of fun to spin around a track. I've decided to try this for the intake, sans a couple of injectors of course.

Lock down; might as well do ALOT of painting, and building!
Jantrix replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If this had happened in the fall/winter I'd be right there with ya. But alas spring, on a farm. No boredom here. ? -
I use it quite a bit for everything. If I'm going to weather the model, the body is usually a Krylon color. I've always been happy until they switched to the wide female nozzle.

Hmm. Not happy with this custom intake. I'm rethinking it. Maybe a three four barrel intake or six sidedrafts like an old Countach?

Ever buy kits...just to "Pirate" parts?
Jantrix replied to Southern Fried's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yep, what he said. When I am at a swap meet with $10 kits available, parts are my main focus. -
That's some very clean work right there and a terrific paint job. Well done.
-
I completely agree. I'd hate to face off with this on a contest table. Really well thought out and executed.

What’s your most and least favourite task?
Jantrix replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wouldn't go so far as say drudgery, but I'll agree with everything else Bill said. I'll work for hours in the early phases, but when it's time to paint and assemble, I like to do a little bit at a time. 20-40 minutes here and there, paint and assemble the last pieces painted. This usually keeps my quality high because I'm not rushing. -
Another Idaho builder! Very nice. I'm in Mountain Home. Have you contacted the local model car club? Check out the Treasure Valley Car Modelers on Facebook.
