That looks terrible! But then again, it's supposed to, right? Great work.

Whoa, that's a model? It looks like one of Harry's Photo-shop jobs. Looks great. Well done.

Yep and yep. I've been on these boards for a while and we've seen lots of new builders. And it always seems we see new builders (young or old) taking the grand leaps into areas that even experienced builders approach with care. I'm guilty of this myself when I was young and I wish someone had told me this little piece of wisdom then. Understand your skill level and build to improve it. Don't try to jump into the major leagues after your first day in AA ball. Learn to build cleanly. This should be your first goal. No mold seam lines, injection pin marks, sink marks or errant file/sanding marks. No glue visible between parts. No wierd gaps. Learn to lay a smooth finish, glossed to your satisfaction and apply metal foil and decals well. Experiment with all the different types of paint available (there are lots). Learn whats compatable with what. After you have these basics down pat, then start the harder stuff. Chop a top, Z a frame, shoot some multi-hued paint jobs. Like I said, we see a lot of new builders. They all end up with the same frustration as they butcher a couple kits trying to chop, channel and section like the old pro's here or end up with a mess of a paint job trying to paint like they see in the magazines. It leads to disappointment and in some cases a loss of interest in the hobby, and that is the real shame. Please take all this advice as it's intended. Everyone here means well and want desperately to see you succeed because we want this hobby to continue in spite of the Nintendo generation. Set that model in the purple pond, get it cleaned up and try some Testors One Shot lacquer or some Tamiya. Get back at it.

I like the idea. Also with that huge chrome grill it adds a great deal of contrast, so maybe a second color is unnecessary and risking what appears to be a good finish already. Good luch on your wiring attempt. Take it slow and easy and remember the goal is a clean build. Adding extra detail will come as you get more proficient.

Yep, I've used mostly washes. You can add as much gunk or as little, depending on how thin you make the wash. You can thin down regular enamels with some thinner, but most folks use acrylics or india inks for washes as there's no chance of disturbing the chrome or other paints. Some grey to black acrylic craft paints thinned with water are your best bet. Do some experimenting and see what you come up with.

And now for something completely different!!!!

A round toit. -
This reminds me of one of the aussie Falcons, where it sort of looks like a Torino in the rear and a Mustang from the front. Really neat idea. Good work.

I'll likely not be there until after noon. I'll be assisting the club with the show, as always, but if you've found nobody else when I get there I'll give you a hand.

Boy remember when Cranky used to post pictures?

This looks great! I did something similar using the front of that 57, but I didn't like the look and tossed the idea. Great work.
-
I'm going to be there. And dude, make sure you bring stuff YOU built this time. Trying to pass Shannon's work off as your own is wrong.
-
Looking forward to seeing more. Keep it going pardner.

I'm pretty sure I saw this on carsinbarns.com. Great work!

Thanks Roger, but the wheels are really one of my favorite details. We'll see how it looks after it's painted. I have some ideas.
-
Well I gotta say I like the tri-spokes. The white walls with babymoons also look good but only if you're going to add some 50's stylings to the build.
-
Fantastic work. Your attention to detail is excellent.

What is this wierd dark place you are putting your models for photographs?

I am amazed at you guys who have multiiple builds scattered over the bench at the same time. I would lose/misplace so many parts that it would drive me to drink. A lost part is a major catastrophy and I do everything I can to prevent it. Clear(ish) plastic shoeboxes from the dollar store are the best. I can keep each build I'm working on at the desk so I don't forget them, but everything stays separate.

LOL. Made you look. While I was taking these pictures, my wife said, "Why are you taking pics now? It looks terrible in the primer and filler. It's like taking pictures of a woman with her hair still in curlers." Well after a brief trip into the land of rust with my junkman's trailer, I'm back at this Camaro. This Camaro was screaming for some sidepipes. The wheels plowboy sent me are done and mounted, as you can see. Still no idea on paint. I have sort of fallen away from the original F-Bomb idea. I just hate olive drab, maybe a flat dark blue to go with the decal better? Here's some pics. Criticism welcome.

I like it! Nice work.

I'm really digging this. Can't wait to see this come together.

Brown? Very been a big fan of brown unless it's a rootbeer metallic kinda thing. However I do love the Starliner. I'll be looking forward to seeing this come together.

Agreed. It looks fantsatic. However, rather that brush the pinstriping, what about using a gel pen? You could easily follow the tape edge and in theory leave a perfect thin line. What do you think? Could this work? -
http://www.bare-metal.com/ Enjoy pardner. It's a little tricky to use at first, but this is the stuff. Order direct from the manufacturer as this stuff has a shelf life. Get the 001 CHROME BARE-METAL FOIL Ignore the ultra-bright stuff, it's not very good.
