  1. If their excellent work on the '53 Ford pick-up is any gauge, I think we'll be happy.
  2. You put a smile on my face. Nice work.
  3. Until say .............................................. November 15? Sound okay?
  4. The theme poll for next years Cannonball is up. Please vote.
  5. Time to choose. Although this poll is open to the whole forum I would appreciate it if only those of you who plan to participate in the Community Build Project would vote.
  6. That's it. Discussion is over. We have our five.
  7. What would totally top this off, is a logo on the door of some Vegas Elvis impersonator. Great stuff Chuck.
  8. Dan, I admire your pioneer spirit, but participation in any CBP is always hit or miss. To force someone to jump out of their comfort zone more than usual isn't a way to insure a completed model in December. How many times have you, over the course of your modeling life, said "that's not coming out like I want" and back in the box it goes, never to be seen again. Speaking for myself, it's happened plenty. Doing themes is already pushing comfort zones. I've only finished three racers in nine runs. The no-shows were from life intervening or not inspired by the theme, in equal portions. In any case, the Cannonball IS a competition. As such, it has always inspired builders to heavily modify or scratch build parts for their model. You cant turn your average model car into something that can cross the country in 35ish hours without doing so.
  9. How many kits with diesels are available?
  10. I tweaked it a little.
  11. If you have input on the 2018 Cannonball, please add it to the discussion thread. This Friday I'll start the poll to decide next years theme.
  12. My models look cool. And they would also function properly if they were real cars. Because I care about such things. I build to a different standard than you. I have relied upon Bill's 1:1 knowledge and expertise many times. And others like him. They are always there to help out. However, very infrequently do they offer info unsolicited.
  13. I haven't done many, but usually when I'm faced with a one piece chassis with everything molded in, I go curbside. In near every model with a slab chassis, the engine isn't worth building.
  14. I've built the coupe and really enjoyed the kit. My only beef with it is the difficulty in getting it low in the rear. I used lowering blocks and "low-enuff" was the axle resting on the frame rails. A did a slight c-notch to make it a little more realistic, but it still has a forward rake.
  15. Very happy to have you. For me at least, model life has derailed at the crossing of Moving Street and Home Improvement Blvd. I likely won't even get to set up the new hobby room until at least the new year. I WILL be back.
  16. Usually we've kept it to 1/25 and 1/24. However during Aussieball, they allowed 1/20.
  17. Talk to CrazyJim here on the forums. His interiors are always a stand out.
  18. I dig it! Well done.
  19. Oh yes, that rule will never change. No worries. That's what this thread is for. Okay, so far the themes that have the most support are Vannonball 80's Pro-touring 4 or 6 cylinder Trucks Keep it going. I'll leave this up for another 10 days or so.
  20. Yes. But all I would do is cut 4 cylinders from a V8. I generally do not buy new kits for a CBP.
  21. The following is my opinion. 1. Life In A Dumb Decade - A major problem is a distinct lack of viable kits from that decade. 2. Spies Like Us - The options are sooooo varied, you might as well call it Unlimited again. 3. 4 cylinder-ball - Again a lack of kit options. How about six cylinders or less and leave it at that? These are all good ideas guys, but lets make sure we have kit options available.
  22. Tim, Thomas, I'm glad you enjoyed the post.
  23. I like Dennis' idea. Here's my two. 1. Wacky Races - oddball cars, like the man said. I've got some cool ideas. 2. Pro-touring/resto-mod - A car from the past (pre-1980) with modern power plant and suspension (post-1990). Cuz everything from 1980 to 1990 was junk and not worth wasting time on.
  24. Thanks man. It's been seriously over grazed so it's gonna take a lot of seed and time to restore it, but I'll set it right. The house needs windows and paint, but it's got good bones.
