  1. Many thanks for your kind words!
  2. Hi there, I built the Italeri re-issue of this old Esci kit. I did not find any images of the road-going version, only of the Bandama Rallye version. Now I know why... I'm not one to blame everything on the kit, but this one really is sort of bad. The whole chassis is a joke. If you build it and attach the wheels as designed, it will look like someone stepped onto it. So I concentrated on fixing these issues and basically made a primitive curbside kit of it. The engine is not worth building either so I skipped that too. Painted with Tamiya TS-21 and gun metal on the lower part of the boday. I added the lower chrome trim using Evergreen strips. The exhaust has been made using aluminium tube. I also used aftermarket metal sticker emblems.
  3. Many thanks Carl and Larry!
  4. Hi Chang, another great model from you, congrats! It seems like we chose to build the same 1:1... one of my recent Tamiya builds was done in the same color combo (although the Tamiya kit is of course much less detailed). I also chose the brown-orange (or is it orange-brown?) interior to go with the Oro Metallizzato Longchamps. I used a mix of Tamiya acrylics to create the colors, how did you do it?
  5. Many thanks again for your compliments! Thanks Mark. Yes, Munich would be exactly the area where you would encounter one of these beasts. I was actually tempted to proceed with the Koenig 928 S4 kit next, but I opted to bother myself with the re-release of the Esci/ Italeri Mercedes 450 SLC first... ?
  6. Hi there, In the 80s and 90s, Koenig-Specials located in Munich, Germany, specialized in the optically and technically extreme tuning of luxury car brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar and Mercedes. In keeping with the spirit of the times, there were big wide body kits and heavy turbo conversions. The Porsche 930 (= 911 turbo) shown here is no exception. The conversion, also known under the nickname "Road Runner", achieved over 500 hp (more precise information is difficult to obtain). This meant that it was by no means the most powerful car in the Koenig range, but it was still a significant increase over the 300 series horsepower. And still stronger than the Porsche benchmark at the time, the 959. In the late 80s, Fujimi took on various Koenig cars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Mercedes. Some of these have been reissued again in between, but usually (as with this car) you have to fall back on what was still available from back then. With the result that, for example, the decals are brittle and/or very yellowed. So it means making the best of it. For the color I chose TS-53 from Tamiya, over which I used the usual 1K clear coat from the DIY store. And a few snapshots along with its 1000hp Ferrari brother (Koenig Competion):
  7. Many thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it!
  8. Many thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback! Thanks David. These are the 2 Tamiya Countach kits, with some modifications. See the link below. I would say that the LP400 (the copper/gold-colored one) was my best paint job last year!
  9. Many thanks to all of you guys for your kind words!
  10. My thoughts exactly. I also dig the Monkeemobile!
  11. Hi there, I started building Formula 1 cars this year, which can be satisfying, but it definitely takes a lot of time to build one. This is one of the reasons I did not manage to build more last year... Here's the results: BMW 325i Sauber-Mercedes C9 "AEG Olympia" 1988 Porsche 962C Joest Racing "Blaupunkt" Lotus Esprit S1 Peugeot 905 EV 1 bis Lamborghini Countach LP 400 Lamborghini Countach LP 400S Benetton B188 Ferrari F1-87/88C McLaren MP4/7 Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II Chevrolet Camaro SS LE1 2017
  12. Many thanks Jeff and Carl!
  13. Happy New Year and many thanks!
  14. Hi all, this is built from the AMT snap kit, which is mostly very nice. The only downside is the glass part, which is looking very "chunky" on the side. That is why I opted to cut out the side window parts and display them opened. Another modification is the carbon foil which I applied onto the roof. Painted in Tamiya TS-42 and 1K clear.
  15. Hi Claude, many thanks, this is a great compliment, especially coming from you!

  17. Wow, I am tempted to utter the odd "show us the model, these are real car pics"-blah blah... This is just looking fantastic. I am not really a big fan of Mr. Gordon M. and his recent antics, but you make this look brilliant in every way! I gather you have used 2k clear for the finish?
  18. Thanks a lot Carl and David.
  19. Many thanks again, I appreciate it!
  20. Many thanks guys!
  21. AMG Mercedes-Benz DTM C-Class, Tamiya kit, built in 1995. I built lots of other stuff by that time, but this is the only kit I deemed good to enough to keep during my 20-year hiatus from modelling. Painted with Tamiya acrylics, so not the UV-resistant clearcoat you can get these days. And this was sitting on the window sill in the sunlight for quite some time before I boxed it, so no surprise the decals look the way they do.
