  1. AMG Mercedes-Benz DTM C-Class, Tamiya kit, built in 1995. I built lots of other stuff by that time, but this is the only kit I deemed good to enough to keep during my 20-year hiatus from modelling. Painted with Tamiya acrylics, so not the UV-resistant clearcoat you can get these days. And this was sitting on the window sill in the sunlight for quite some time before I boxed it, so no surprise the decals look the way they do.
  2. Hi there, this was a "quick fun build" inbetween rather exhausting F1 projects. Long story short, the kit is a rather strange mix between the road version (that the boxart is depicting) and the DTM race version. The interior is flawed, again, with a funny mix of race and road car parts. Therefore I painted it black and focussed on getting the exterior looks right. The kit contained the 5 spoke road car wheels with slicks (!) but I opted to use a set of BBS RS LM 18 inch wheels with road tyres anyway. It took some effort to get the stance right, but I think it worked out in the end. I used aluminium ferrules for the exhaust pipes. BMF was used on the front grille. Although all 502 cars were painted in blue black, I chose to paint mine in "brilliant silver" instead. Tamiya TS-17 and 1K clear have been used to that purpose.
  3. Many thanks for your kind words. I'm happy you like it. Thanks Rich. Yes, I used TS-36 sprayed through the airbrush. Masking the read areas was done using BMF for having sharp edges. The base is Tamiya TS-101 Base White. By now I use this for all white bodies I paint. The beauty about it is that it's technically a white primer but it is glossy. So no extra white paint is required and you can apply decals right onto it.
  4. Hi there, this is my first kit with tobacco decals on it. Decals are from Shunko. Paint is Tamiya spray and 1K clear. I used carbon fibre decals for the monocoque and replaced the kit's air intake funnels with selfmade metal parts.
  5. That is a fantastic-looking Camaro, great work all around. When I will come around to building my (Foose) 1/12 scale kit one day, I will definitely skip all the Foose stuff and build it as "pure" a Z28 as possible.
  6. Fantastic work and result! I have just ordered this kit, albeit in smaller (1/20) scale. ?
  7. Many thanks guys, I appreciate it.
  8. Hi there, my first Fujimi F1 kit was kind of a hard nut to crack. Major fitting issues occurred concerning the bonnet, which could not be fixed (at least not by myself). Other than that, the kit is well-designed except for some parts in the engine bay, which are hard to be located correctly. I pretty much used the try-and-error method, resulting in... well, errors. Which had to be corrected, and that took quite some of my building time.
  9. Couldn't agree more. Great work.
  10. It's been a while since I showed this build... Only now, a mate from a German forum told me that my build has been featured in the printed Model Cars Magazine, issue #212, in the "Forum finds" section. ?
  11. Many thanks guys for your kind feedback. Yes, I imagine it's painting this livery that keeps more people from building this kit. ?
  12. Hi there, my first F1 car build. Easy build, painting the livery was the hardest job on it. Built OOB except for PE seat belts that I added.
  13. Thanks! The "carpet" is actually adhesive textile foil, e.g. to be used for decoration purposes. Something like this: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B005CNZ2GM/ref=twister_B0C4Q32B23?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 As regards the Merak, I wasn't and still not am too happy with the result. It would have been much nicer in the green enamel color I used in the first place. But obviously that jar had gone bad and badly damaged the body's plastic. Which is why I had to go for another color that was to be "forgiving" in the sense of hiding the damages that I could not remove. And as regards the Bora, there are two different kits: the Airfix/ Heller release (identical), which has quite a lot of flaws but an okay body shape. And the Matchbox one (which originates from a mid-70's Revell kit) with engine details and doors and hoods that can be opened, aswell as the pop-up headlights. But (in my experience) these features will not look too good, because of fitting issues. I have both kits and my plan is to basically to build the Airfix kit and use only some parts of a (started/ built) Matchbox kit to correct the look where necessary.
