Many thanks Anton and Bruce! -
Okay... So it's been nearly 4 1/2 years since I last posted in this WIP. And that's exactly for how long the kit has been sleeping in a box. I've been doing lots of other stuff during that time. I built a LOT of vintage US cars, something I'd never done before. And some race cars and a selection of JDM and European sports cars. (Feel free to click the Scalemates link below to check them out, if you like.) Anyway, I'd like to move forward with this build now. I remember all your kind support while I was at it in 2018, and people asking whether it's been finished or not, even years after. I really appreciate the interest and would be happy if you'd follow me along during the next steps, which will hopefully lead to the finished model! I started off slowly... had to check out where exactly I was when I took the break. I remember that the modification of the wheels to the chassis was a bit exhausting. I am using a lot of aftermarket parts for this kit, as Fujimi did just as much wrong on this kit. The wheels are 18 inches from Scale Production with a metal center part. I had to work out a way how to fix the brakes inside of them and and then fix the brake/ wheel to the chassis. This is where I am now. Front brakes: Rear brakes: This is how I plan on doing it... The "spacers" have beens scratch-build: This is what the metal wheel center looks like from the inside. One of my concerns is to have enough stability after glueing the spacer to it... This is how the rims look now. The black outer ring will be painted in silver later. Even though stored in a closed box for the whole time, the body could use a little cleaning and waxing: More to come soon!

Many thanks guys, I appreciate it! Thanks a lot Pierre! No, the Hasegawa is a curbside at it's best. The Tamiya 962 is much more detailed but it is still curbside, and it has the downside of the factory glued-in clear parts which need to be masked for painting. -
Thank guys for your kind words! In fact the decals were a bit of work, but not really that bad. All the segments were designed a bit longer (overlapping) in order to make them "meet". The kit itself however, is not very well designed. It's below Hasegawa's usual standard and certainly only second choice after the Tamiya C9 kit!

Almost poetry! ? I second your opinion and I like the fact that you consider that this has to do with one's own age too. The Porsche is built and painted just excellent, lovely model - Tamiya or not! -
Congrats Mario, beautiful build! ? The color reminds me very much of this one:

Hi Anders, great craftmanship as usual. The rims are are touch too big for my personal taste, they appear to be 21" or 22" to me. But as I said, personal taste. No doubt about this being a well-built and -painted model! Does "horrid" refer to the build-up in general? I can't see too many downsides, apart from the headlights looking not so much spot-on and the Porsche badge being a bit too big?

Many thanks Anders!

Hi there, glad you have recovered. The Jag is looking great. The paint you have chosen sets it apart from the usual silver/ blue/ green colors. It looks a lot like Jaguar's original paint Morocco Red Pearl (?) to me. Great model!

Hi there, I got a hold of 2 built E36 kits some time ago. These kits are very hard/ extensive to come by these days. So my intention was to restore them both and build one into a Nurburgring endurance racer and the other (this) one into a sporty road version. The restoration was hard on this one, the body didn't take the paint stripping well and the initial builder used a lot of glue on the clear parts... Made the best of it, I gather... This was the starting point. The body used for this model is the right one...

Fantastic work throughout the whole year, Anders! I especially dig both Ebbro Citroens!

Great work all around on a colorful variety of subjects! But to me the Ranchero has to stand out!

Not sure if someone brought this up before... I used to have a challenge with creating panel lines where there were none, but should be. By coincidence, I found that there is a product called scribing tape. It has the right balance between being strong enough to guide the scribing tool steadily and being flexible enough to allow for an (intended) slight curve. Plus it has very good adhesion so it can be used a second time in most cases. This is the stuff. It comes in several dimensions. Works great for me. https://www.migjimenez.com/en/home/5845-scribing-tape-straight-edge-5mm-x-3m--8432074082460.html
