  1. Hi Giovanni. what a beautiful build! The funny thing is I am currently in the process of chosing which F1 car to build next. And I have have checked this very kit (which is in my stash) in detail yesterday. Although I decided to go with a 1:20 kit for now, I made up my mind to build the same livery and driver version that you did, in the future. So it's a nice surprise someone (you) had the same idea and built such a great model in exactly the same way. Congrats again, very well done! Judging from the high level of fine detailing, I'd suspect you have used aftermarket parts such as wires, rivets...? Is that so?
  2. Many thanks guys, I appreciate your feedbacks!
  3. Hi there, I had both Tamiya kits in my stash and couldn't decide which one to build... so I did both. As the kit sold as "LP500S" is basically replicating an LP400 modified for billionaire Walter Wolf in 1975, I used it as a basis for making an LP400S. The LP400S was the first official "update" for the original (LP400) Countach in 1978. It had new features like the wideboy, modified front, modifiied engine bonnet cover, high performance tyres and the rear wing (optional). I chose to cut the molded-on wing off mine, as I wanted a little bit "purer" look. I corrected the front by using parts from a Fujimi 5000QV donor kit. The roof however remained incorrect, it still has the "periscopio" structure. I wasn't willing to put THAT much work into changing it. LP400: I used Tamiya Metallic Orange over a layer of Gold to create a look that is very similar to Lamborghini "Oro Metallizzato Longchamp". The interiour has been painted with a mix of orange and brown Tamiya acrylics. I added carpet, seat belts and pedals (which are missing in the kit). I also did some engine detailing on this one. LP400S: I found one Countach on the internet which was painted in Ferrari (!) Verde Pino. It looked fantastic with the golden wheels so I went for this combo too. Overall, this has less interior and engine detailing than the LP400, but I decided to open the pop-up headlights on this one. A few shots of the pair and their youngest "brother", the Anniversario.
  4. Excellent model, great work all around.
  5. Great model, I love that gen Camaro and the old Monogram kit makes it look great aswell in scale, if built properly - which is what you did!
  6. Very nice - that is one GREAT model!
  7. Many thanks Atin! Obscure...? ? Well, those were the early 70's and from what I remember of my childhood days, a lot of those Matchbox and Corgi toy cars were looking "wedgy" like the Boomerang, Esprit, Lambo Countach & Marzal and Alfa Romeo Carabo. At least that's the ones I remember. ?
  8. Many thanks Anders!
  9. Many thanks guys. Glad you like it! Thanks Aaron. As regards the interior, there were many unusual colors available. And it was the mid-70's, so... ? For solid (non-metallic) body colors such as yellow, orange and so on, I often use spray cans from the DIY-market. They are a lot of paint for little money. And the quality is good, sometimes not even a clearcoat is required. See my yellow Dino 246 GT. Thanks Kurt! To be honest, I find these old kits easier to make them look right than so many modern ones that are unnecessarily complicated. And you're right, I have shown the Boomerang before some years ago. It was a restoration of my original Airfix/ Heller build from 1990 (?). Getting the Boomerang... they are hard and expensive to come by these days. SMP24 released one years ago. They also made a lot of other 70's dream cars available in kit form, however they are VERY expensive. https://www.scalemates.com/brands/smp-24--6562 Myself, I still have the 1:16 from Revell.
  10. Absolute eye candy! Great work all around!
  11. Many thanks all, I appreciate your feedbacks! Thanks Bruce, I guess there are 2 "secrets" to "overcome" this kit. First, and as you mentioned, make it a curbside. There is no other way, or the back to the car will always look like an elephant stepped onto it. Second, do glue all outer (body) parts together at the earliest stage possible or you will have fit issues and giant gaps. However, in order to make this possible, it might take a lot of cutting and some sawing... ?
  12. Hi there, this kit is replicating the 1991 predecessor of the 1992 and 1993 Le Mans winning car. This kit is "greatly feared" (mostly) among European builders of 1/24 racing/ Group C cars. In brief words, the kit seems to offer a lot of detail (e.g. the V 10 engine) but fails to deliver in even the most basic aspects. For instance, the engine hood does not fit at all, which is not a small issue on a Group C car. So from the get-go, it was clear for me that this could be done only curbside, with all parts glued and shut as much as possible. I ran into some fitting issues anyway, but eventually succeeded in passing this "test of patience and character". ?
  13. A beauty, well done!
  14. Another racing beauty from your capable hands... well done!
  15. Hi Harry, this looks a fine model, especially with all the issues you mentioned. Did you use the 1K clear from Zero Paints? I do not recommend that from my own experience. The 2K is way better. Is there any reason you did not use the kit's decals for the red lines on the body edges and the "Italian stripes"? They would have added some nice accents, I believe.
  16. Very nice. Great choice of color and paint/ polish job, and realistic-looking panel lines (as always with your builds).
  17. Hi Pierre, I agree on all of the above: you did a great job on this simple old kit to make it look a FABULOUS model! I especially like the washing you did on the rear panel, makes it look like PE mesh - amazing. I looked up my stash to find I have an old (1992) issue of this kit with decals that have not aged well. But it shouldn't be a problem, those decals are pretty simply to print on my own. Your build will definitely be a template to me for achieving a better result! By the way, I also found a Chaparral 2C kit by Imai. Supposedly a re-release of an old LS kit from the 60's. It has even less parts... and much too small tyres. But the body does look good! It's this kit: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/arii-11123-1200-chaparral-2c--129594
