Well said Sir. My thoughts exactly.
I am thrilled to have a Del Rio kit in the pipeline as my father had a Cumberland Green and Colonial White one with the T-Bird hub caps sometime in the early 60's when I was a kid. I thought that was the coolest car I had ever seen...still do. I might buy a few of the kits and don't care about all these so called flaws.
Count me in as well. One of the first AMT kits I ever had. Still my all time favorite, just love that box art. As mentioned above, with all the reissues out there it would be tough for me to build a mint original.
I bought this original issue built up cheap not long ago...
......and using some original parts and decals I had in my stash I rebuilt it keeping the original vibe and display it with an original box. Had a ball with it.
I wish them well in their deserved retirement and I appreciate the almost 2 year advance notice, plenty of time to save up my lunch money to get the stuff I want/need. As mentioned above perhaps they can sell the business. Thank you Don and Carol for your impeccable service and products.
I did. I built this back in the 90's long before any of the Revell Deuces hit the shelves. I wanted a high boy and the AMT kit just didn't look right. I was satisfied with the results at the time.
If I had another one with a good body but needed a front grill, rear bumper. silver streak trim and wheel and tire set I'd be interested. With out that, I'll leave it for someone else.
When I was a kid, in the 60's, I was indeed motivated by cool box art. I even got roped in by a few Palmers. I appreciate the original art from that time and have accumulated some of my favorites from my youth but today? No, not so much.
