Thanks!! I like your idea for the tailgate, but for this build I want the bed height, (including the tailgate), to look as tall as possible. I think that will help offset the tall appearance of the cab. Exactly!! I brought the bottom of the taillights up to the top edge of the bumper, (where it meets the tailgate). Great minds think alike?? After we talked, I also reworked the hood scoop a "little bit". Actually, I cut out the entire thing and started over!! I made it just a bit wider, but to make it more pornounced, (by making the opening taller), I made the bottom portion set deeper into the hood. This also made the sides of the opening more pronounced. I'll post a few pics when I get home. With a bit of putty and another coat of primer, this one will soon be ready for paint!! Later,

'29 A Roadster Drag Racer - Early 50's style

Bernard, It's good to see that you're able to put some of those old parts to use!! The interior panels look GREAT!! Wow!! That really is a BIG engine!! Later, -
Thanks, Mike!! I still need to cut a gas door into the right rear fender. I didn't like the look or location of the one that was on the stock bed from the '91 Chevy pickup, so it got filled in... Thanks, Bernard!! After looking at the pictures, I may raise the bottom edge of the tail lights to line up with the bottom edge of the tailgate...your thoughts??? Later,

Need your input and advice!!!!

Yeah, I agree with the rest of the guys...sell them for whatever you can get. I remember seeing painted bodies going for almost $100 on eBay. For all the time and $$ it takes to paint them, they were well worth what the buyers paid. As for someone else claiming your work, that's their problem, not yours. Whenever I show a model that was partially or completely built by someone else, I list thier name on the build sheet or tag. I'm proud to show work that some of my friends have done. I hope this helps!! Later, -
Here are a few pics with the major portions of the bodywork completed. This is one of the early primer coats that I use to see where I need to add a dab of putty and where any of the body lines need to be corrected. For this, I like using the gray primer instead of the red oxide. At this point the "A" pillars have been cut down 0.02", (about 1/2"). With as short as the roof is, that was just enough to give it a slight tilt downward in the front without looking malformed. The tailgate has also been added. Because of its slant and shape, I chose not to hinge it. I may even glue the bed cover in place. There's really nothing to see in the bed. The tailgate, with a bit of sanding, was made from the lower seat cushion from the '50 Chevy truck kit. Here you get a better view of the small hood scoop that was taken from the '06 Z06 Vette. To make it look right with the split windshield from the '50 Chevy truck, I replaced the two supports from the original scoop with a single, small brass rod in the middle. This view from the back shows the recesses for the custom tail lights and the cutouts for the exhaust from the stock '94 ZR-1 rear bumper. This also shows that I permantly attached the bed to the cab. It made sense to attach it, given the fact that this one rides on a one piece '06 Z06 chassis. Time to add a bit of putty and let the primer dry while I finish building the engine and chassis. Later,

Your Very First Real Car
Raul_Perez replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My first car was a '64 Falcon Sprint. It had a 289 with the factory chrome package on the engine. It was like this one, white with red interior, but mine had chrome wheels and baby moons. Later, -
And I will have finished building at least one more model, while Bernard and Curt will have to add onto their respective houses to make room for the hundreds of models they each will have finished by then! Later,

Very, very nice, Marcos!! With a different background, this one could pass for 1:1!! Thanks ofr sharing,

Good luck and take care, my young friend.

Way too cool, Virgil!! All I want to know is how you get so much done so well and so quickly!! I can't decide what I want to do half as fast as you seem to get it done!! Keep up the GREAT work and the posts!! Later,

'29 A Roadster Drag Racer - Early 50's style

Bernard, It looks like you're having way too much fun on this one!! All of the fabricationeering is coming together nicely!! I need to get building if I plan on having at least half of what you and Curt will have on display at the next NNL West!! Later, -
It looks like you're off to another GREAT start!! How do you guys get so much time to build?? I'm still plugging away at my '40 Ford and my '50 Chevy pickup. Later,

This reminds me of the over-carburated '67 Camaro, (with really tall gears and a Powerglide tranny), that I had after high school. It was a bit of a pig off the line, but it really moved once it got rolling. I knew it wasn't advisable to put a 650 Holley carb with mechanical secondaries and a high-rise on an engine that had a tallgears and an automatic tranny behind it, but the cost was "right", so I lived with it. It's amazing how much realism is created just by adding a few small machined parts!! The engine bay looks awesome!! Thanks for sharing,
-
That's too funny, Dave!! Now...go get some more building done and get your camera out so we can see some updated pics of your stuff!! Later,
-
Thanks, Alyn!! That's too funny!! It'll be a little while before this one is ready for paint. I still need to take a bit out of the "A" pillars, build the engine and get everything fitted into the engine bay before this one sees some seriously RED paint coming its way...but I have thought of painting the hood to see how the scoop looks in color. The pics of it in primer just don't seem to do it any justice. Later,
-
Very nice, Virgil!! Are you going to build any kind of a base for it? What's next??? Later,
-
Thanks, guys!! No, I'm not going to chop the top, but I will take a bit out of the "A" pillar to give it a slight tilt... Later,
-
Wow!! That is really wild!! I can't wait to see more!! Later,

I don't know...I kind of liked the horns where they were... Either way, this is certainly one cool build!! Later,
