  1. You're very welcome, Randy!! I needed to make room in my display case for the exceptionally well built '58 Pontiac that you sent me!! It's now making the rounds at the west coast shows!! The 4.6L 32 valve engine and interior are from the AMT '97 SVT Cobra. Later,
  2. Bernard, You are a building fiend!! The pale blue and white should look pretty good together!! I'd probably leave the running boards white for this build. I think that black ones would take away from the "look" you're going for... Boy, you sure are liberal with that mockup glue!! Good thing it washes off with water! Later,
  3. Very, very nice, Pat!! Let a little air out of the tires, photograph it on a smoother surface and this one could easily pass for 1:1!! Congratulations on an awesome build!! Later,
  4. Very nice!! I like the way that you painted the engine in the older, more traditional Ford blue color!! Thanks for sharing,
  5. That explains it!! I was never much into aircraft. I can't wait to see your Shelby!! Later,
  6. And...that's why they call it "Blacken It", not "Black It", "Make It Black" or "It'll Be Black For Sure After You Dip It In This Stuff For A While...". For some metals, it doesn't seem to matter how long you leave it in, they just don't get completely black. Go figure... Later,
  7. That's going to be one hot little Chevy powered Model "A", Bernard!! As usual, you've done your homework before you jumped into the build!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
  8. Thanks for the explanation!! Yes, I also build a lot of "what if" stuff. Make sure to post some pics of your Shelby as you build it!! Later,
  9. I'll second all of that!! But, I was expecting to see a big old nasty 427 from the '64 Ford Thunderbolt sitting under the hood of your '32 based on the title of the post. Hmmm...that gives me some ideas for all of those Thunderbolt and '32 kits I have sitting around... Thanks for sharing,
  10. I agree, the paint on the '55 looks really good!! I've never seen a Jagermeister sponsored GSX. Is that something that you see in Finland? Thanks for sharing,
  11. Yeah...full time for 10 years until I retired in the mid-80s, then part-time, (as needed), for another 25 years... I did mostly major accident repair/reconstruction work, but we also did the occasional custom motorcycle or hotrod... The engine details are coming along very nicely. I like the way that you used brass wire to pin the spark plug tubes to the distributor. That kind of minor, hidden detail really helps keep the visible glue joints to a minimum. I do the same thing for parts like door handles, mirrors... Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
  12. There are 3 rules for successfully navigating your way through Boston: 1) NEVER use your turn signals; (You're giving away your intentions). 2) NEVER make eye contact with the other drivers; (You may give away your intentions). 3) If there is room, it's a lane!!
  13. The one with the biggest car (This is where size does matter!!)
  14. Very clean build!! I remember when these first hit the street. Thanks for sharing,
  15. Kyle, The machined parts look GREAT!! The paint and BMF work look really good, too!! Later,
  16. Very cool rod!! I'm a big fan of cowl steering!! It just adds an extra element of danger!! Thanks for sharing!! Later,
  17. Cool build, Mark!! All of your mods really improve the overall look of the model!! Thanks for sharing!! Later,
  18. No...I chopped it in the computer and didn't like the look. With the side panels as tall as they are, the only way I would chop this body is if I was also going to section it. However, I am planning on taking about 0.03" out of the "A" pillar to give it a bit more aggressive appearance. Thanks for the suggestion!! Later,
  19. Thanks, Alyn!! I agree that the hood looks good as it is. With that, I'll probably go with the small intake scoop from the '06 Z06 instead of the more prominent cowl induction scoop from the '94 ZR-1. Yes, the windshield from the '54 and early '55 would look best, but that would only look good if I could also fabricate the molding that goes around the glass, too. That's probably more work than I plan on putting into this one... Yes, I do plan on cutting about 0.03" out of the "A" pillar to slant the front of the roof down just a little bit. Curt, Yeah, I hit it pretty hard last night. Yeah, the running boards, the cab and the fenders will be joined once all the work on the cab is finished. The pie-cut is pretty easy to do...most of the work is in the measuring...I usually moch it up in the computer to see how it'll look before I actually start cutting. "She who must be worshiped" wants help in the backyard on Saturday AND she informed me that we're having a birthday party for the creator of "She who must be worshiped" on Sunday, so I may not make it to the Good Guys this weekend. Later,
  20. Alyn, The engine is coming along nicely!! From the pics, the resin parts look fine. Let me know if you need any 1:1 pics of flathead engines. I've got a pretty good selection of various years and modification types to pick from. It's hard to tell how well, (or not), the grille shell will look without seeing where it will be positioned on the model and how the top of it aligns with the top of the cowl. As a retired bodyman, I'm a bit of a stickler for that kind of detail...everything has to be properly aligned... Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
  21. Thanks, Alyn!! So as to not keep you waiting, here's where I am with modifying the hood. On the first build, all I did to the hood was to extend the front down slightly to align with the lowered grille and removed the rib that runs down the middle. This one has been also been extended to align with the lowered grille, but it has also been pie-cut and slanted back in the front to cut down some of the bull-nose and to align better with the profile shape of the headlight openings. Here's a few comparison shots with an original hood and the modified hood. Well, that's about all for today...I may also add either the cowl induction hood scoop from the '94 ZR-1 like I did to the '57 Chevy pickup below or the small front, forward facing scoop from the '06 Z06. I'll have to do a bit of testing in the computer to see which (if any) I like better. Later,
  22. I use nothing but Testors lacquer. Yes, it works best with their clear. If you're going to try some of the hardware store paints, you might try them on a spare body first. Some of them cannot be recoated after 24 hours without seeing severe signs of crazing. Good luck,
  23. Cool little utility vehicle!! I like the way you arc welded the fenders on!! Thanks for sharing,
  24. Clay, The new avatar with the family looks GREAT!! Yes, I like GTS Blue, but this one will be red with light gray interior. Next time you're in the area you need to stop by for some model car handling and painting lessons, (or just a beer)!! Later,
  25. Very nice build, Randy!! The paint work looks awesome!! Thanks for sharing,
