Jerry Cardinal's El Matador - A tribute to Bill Cushenbury
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in Model Cars
Here are a few photos of the matching truck and trailer that Jerry recently built to haul El Matador to the shows. Jerry went with a flathead for this build, adding many of the usual details that Jerry is well known for. While wanting to maintain the general look of El Matador, Jerry didn't want it to be an exact copy in truck form. Jerry used rare earth magnets to keep the tailgates on the truck and trailer in place. They do a great job of keeping everything aligned and in place, even after paint!! This definately is a great looking trio!! I'm sure that Bill Cushenbury would smile if he ever saw this set!! Yeah, Jerry...that's a lot of candy apple red paint!! Congratulations on another GREAT build!! Later, -
Excellent blend of old and new, Dave!! Congratulations on an awesome build!! Later,

This one is coming along very nicely!! How do you get those vacuform bodies to come out so good??? (You know how much I like working with resin and vacuform stuff...) Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

Alyn, I wasn't sure at first how a lowered windshield would look with respect to the high-back body, but it actually looks pretty good!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

'30 Ford 5-window coupe - Chopped and Channeled
Raul_Perez replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is coming together very nicely, Bernard!! The mix of pieces from different models in the interior is a really nice touch!! It looks like this one is going to be headed "Under Glass" pretty soon!! Later, -
My, my...you have been busy!! The color and the build look GREAT!! Do you know that you've completed at least two builds in the time it took me to get the pin stripes and the clear sprayed on my '40 Ford!! I may have to make to move back over to OOB for a while and build some of those Ferrari kits I've got collececting dust in the corner. Yours will need complany at the next NNL West!! Later,

Hey Curt...I've got a model that I need help with... Another nice build, my old friend!! You just gotta love those shake and bake models!! Later,
-
Curt, Is there anything that you won't build? Anything that crosses my bench that even remotely resembles something made from a vacuform process, (which is typically some type of discardable packaging material), is only there momentarily while in route to the central repository. Narrow vision? No. Too busy and no room to "store" any more stuff? Yes. There is no one I know that has such a wide range of topics that they'll build as you do!! Not even Jerry!! The frame mods look really good. Keep up the GREAT work, my old friend!! BTW: It's just about pizza time again...let me know when you have time to get up this way... Later,

Alyn, This one just keeps getting better everytime I see the additional work that you've done. I'm also a BIG Ed Roth fan. Last year I did a tribute build in his honor. That's the 3 piece set that I still use for my avatar (because I haven't finished anything else since then ). As a fan, I can easily imagine the smile he'd have on his face when he saw what you've done with his creation! BRAVO!! Keep up the AWESOME work!! This one will be "Under Glass" pretty soon!! Later,

Bernard, The nailhead looks awesome!! The gold color really makes it pop!! I'm glad to see that you chose not to cover it up with a hood. You're right about the AMT Phantom Vicky kit having some great parts!! That frame looks really nice!! I may have to get one of them for some sort of future build... I also think that you're right in going for a suede finish on this build. That will make the engine the real standout piece in the build. Keep up the GREAT work!! Thanks for sharing, -
Alyn, I really like how this one is progressing!! The color is GREAT for a show car!! Thanks for sharing,

Would you believe that it's actually been too hot for me to paint in sunny CA? To get the clear on my '40 Ford, I had to get up early Sunday morning to get it prepped and sprayed before 10:00. Anything later than that and the paint would have dried before it got out of the can and onto the model!! Keep us posted on the color samples!! Later, -

That tire and wheel combo looks right on the money, Bernard!! Pearl Green? I haven't seen that color yet. Are you going to do some spoon test shots with different base colors? Later, -
All three are nice looking builds!! They make me wonder what you could do with a really nice kit... Thanks for sharing,
-
Another stunner, Bill!! The color with the BMF makes an awesome combination!! Thanks for sharing,

That's the beauty of getting old...I remember that you were here, that we raided the parts boxes, but I probably can't remember a single thing that you took!! Later, -

Yep...this one is coming along really nicely, Bernard!! That Nailhead engine from the Parts Box is going to look GREAT sitting between those frame rails!! Do you need another pair of tire like what is on the front? Are they Firestones? Later, -
Marcos, While I couldn't tell the difference between a high performance rotary engine and an industrial coffee blender, your engine is looking really good!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

Bernard, While it's hard for me to see past the pea-green plastic to fully realize your vision for this build, , the stance and ride height look right on the money!! Yes, I too really like the steelies with the chrome rings and baby moon caps!! Keep going...you'll soon have more builds in your collection than Curt and myself combined!! Later, -
Very nice work, David!! The PE details stand out really well and do a great job of balancing a completely red model! Thanks for sharing,

It's continuing to come together very nicely, Scott!! Later,

'49 Ford Shoebox Retro Pro Touring Road Racer - Updated 07/12
Raul_Perez replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Bernard, Here's the money shot, (once you get the BMF finished)!! The modified grille, surround and stripes really all come together amazingly well in this shot!! This little shoebox kit really offers room for a lot of different themes to be applied. Later, -
It's about that time

Clay, Take care and hurry home, my young friend!! Let us know if there's anything we can do for you or your family. Regards, -
Looking good, Scott!! I'm glad to see that you managed to work past the Death saw's efforts to stifle this build!! The wheels look GREAT, too!! Later,

I have also bought a several products from Chris over the past few years. Except for one decal set that he promptly replaced, everything I've bought from him was good quality, and typically much better than most of the resin stuff I've seen at some of the swap meets. I'd have to say that it's up there with Norm's stuff from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Later,
