  1. That little HEMI looks really good!! The log manifold with the 8 carbs is a nice, vintage touch!! Thanks for sharing,
  2. Cool little Offy, Bernard!! I've also thought about building just engines a few times, especially most recently when the engine parts packs were re-released, but I've already got more stuff than I'll ever live long enough to build!! I can't wait to see what you decide to drop this little power plant into!! Later,
  3. The front fender extensions from the '53 Vette and the custom front roll pan from the '49 Ford have been grafted onto the front of the pickup. Like the previously version, I've lowered the grille in the opening about 1.5 scale inches. This helps give the front of the truck a slightly lower appearance and helps with getting the fender extensions in place without changing the size or shape of the grille opening. In this photo you can see the 0.05" spacer between the top of the grille and the opening. The nose of the hood still needs to have a piece added to bring it down to fit the grille. Back to cutting and gluing!! Later,
  4. Thanks, Marcos!! This one will be painted Testors Italian Red lacquer, just like the '57 I did 2 years ago...kind of a "Vette theme" thing... Thanks, Virgil!! I've got the front fender extensions and the lower front roll pan grafted on...I'll post a few pics in the morning... Later,
  5. Great job, Ethan and Elliot!! Please keep us posted on your progress!! Thanks for sharing,
  6. Thanks, Mike!! No, no tilt bed...with the way I'm planning on building the running boards, everything needs to stay connected... OK, OK...I never owned a 1:1 full scale pickup!! I've owned several 1:25th scale trucks!! You guys are really getting particular on the details... Later,
  7. Thanks, George!! Yeah...I was thinking Caddy, too, when I looked that the opening!! You were in sunny CA and you didn't stop by for a visit?! Blasphemy!! Anyway, I only go to the NNL West in Santa Clara. There's about a 500 mile difference. Maybe we'll see you in February for the next NNL West!! Later,
  8. Every time I see someone build one of these really cool Ferrari models it makes me think that I should switch back to building sports cars for a while!! Yours is coming along very nicely!! Thanks for sharing,
  9. Thanks, Rodney!! Yeah...the door handles from the Willy are pretty small and look pretty good in the old Ford. Thanks, Alyn! Now let's see how much of it will actually be seen once it's nested under that chopped top!! Later,
  10. "Truck-Meister"...now that's a funny name for someone who has never owned a truck!! Thanks, Bernard!! Actually, the aesthetics of early pickups aren't all that hard to improve on. Back then they were were designed more for commercial use than they were for styling statements. Yeah...it'll take some doing to make this one better than the '57 version, but that's the general idea! Later,
  11. Thanks, guys!! Yeah, it'll be the same color as the Avanti salt flat racer!! Later,
  12. So, what do you get when you mix a '50 Chevy pickup, a '53 Vette Roadster, a '94 Vette ZR-1, an '06 Z06 Vette and the bed from a '91 Chevy stepside pickup? I don't know...but I hope it'll look something like an updated, Z06 version of the ZR-1 Chevy pickup that I built about 15 years ago. Last year I finally gave this one to my friend Rex "Mr. NNL West" Barden, so it's time for me to build an updated replacement. Here's where I am so far... The rear fenders from the '50 Chevy pickup and the rear bumper from the '94 ZR-1 Vette have been grafted onto the bed from the '91 Chevy stepside pickup. For this build, I wanted a more modern looking bed than to original, box shaped one from the early 50's. This one has been slanted forward at the top to give it a more aggressive, "Vette" appearance. Since the rear of the bed has been reshaped, I'll have to either close up the back end or make a custom tailgate for it. Either way, this one will have a body-colored bed cover like the '57 Z06 Chevy pickup I built 2 years ago. Yes, this one will be RED, too. Well, next is adding the front fender extensions and headlights from the '53 Vette. Later,
  13. Thanks, Virgil!! What are you working on these days?? Thanks, Dave!! Those are some seriously BIG wheels on that Ford!! And, where is Tito these days?? Later,
  14. Here are a few pics of the interior before it gets installed into the body. The pedals, seats, the center console, the interior door handles (that are actually the exterior door handles) came from the Revell '41 Willys Street rod. The PE "Ford" speaker covers and the seat belt buckles are from Model Car Garage. The PE dash insert and the radio faces are from Model Car Garage. The seat belts are cut from black construction paper. The steering column and wheel are also from the Revell '41 Willys. If all goes well, I'll spray the final coat of clear on the body later today and this onw will be "Under Glass" in the next couple of weeks... Later,
  15. Marcos, The engine details really look GREAT!! Those pulleys with the separate belts really add a lot of realism!! Later,
  16. Yeah...thanks to Revell for adding the louvered trunk as a separate piece, I fully expect to see that trunk lid on a lot of builds in the near future. I know that Bernard (GBK1) has started one, too. Nice work, as always, Lyle!! I'll be looking forward to seeing this in Norm's catalog by the end of the year! Later,
  17. Thanks, Alyn!! It is always risky changing a design...some modifications fit well and balance the design while other mods just don't blend well with the rest of the design. It's a good thing that model building is a relatively inexpensive means of trying your hand at automotive design!! Tom, It's good to hear from you!! Yeah, this type of chop is relatively simple...much more so than the method where you split the top and add material to compensate for the angle of the "A" and "C" pillars. Give it a try!! Later,
  18. This one just keeps getting better with each new set of pictures that you post!! Yeah...there's nothing like building small, detailed parts with brass, if you have the right equipment and skill to pull it off. Keep up the GREAT work,
  19. Very authentic looking details, Pat!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Thanks for sharing,
  20. Thanks, Pat!! No...I just smoothed it out with a little Bondo and painted over it!! Later,
  21. AWESOME WORK!! Everything looks well thought-out, considering the limited amount of space that you have to work with!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
  22. Thanks, Dave!! Yeah, I have ink pens. Depending on the depth of the grooves, they can give a nice, consistent line. Thanks, Dan!! I think that will be the last time that I post a picture of a car upside-down!! Well, it's time to get back to the madness...I need to get the interior finished... Later,
  23. The wood looks GREAT!! Thanks for sharing,
  24. Very nice build, Harry!! I just sold my last one of these kits last week to a friend...yes, he's still a friend...he's built several Pocher kits, including this one. Later,
  25. Interesting idea, Mike!! If nothing else, this one needs a but of a black wash to make it look more realistic. Thanks,
