Thank you. Absolutely about the engine. I like that. Where do I send the check;) Thank you. Yeah I think I’m going to have to print a set of shorties too. The kit has long tube headers that definitely hang down too low.

Installed the glass and rear bumper. I was going to use one of the carbureted spare engines I have left over from my TLB 55 Chevy kit bash but decided this beast deserves a modern LS. Santa might be bringing me a 3D printer so I’m going to wait and try that as my first project.

Primed and painted the body. I used the Mr. Surfacer pink primer that i bought for my Diamonds are Forever Mach 1. I really liked the way it went down so I figured I’d use again. Didn’t know if it would give the black a cherry tint but it came out fine. Black is Tamiya Matte Black decanted and airbrushed. Thanks for looking

Cool Daddy-O!

That is one sweet deuce. The paint looks amazing and the interior came out fantastic. It’s a shame you can’t see it.

Sharp looking Mach 1. I love that color combination and you did an excellent job with it. Great collection too.

Tough crowd.

Finished and posted Under Glass

Finished up my Diamonds ar Forever Mach1. This was a very nice kit as most here know. Only issue is I wasn’t happy with the decals. They didn’t have the black circles for the hubcaps and some cut off some of the lettering. Also some of the engine compartment labels are not visible. Especially the decals on the battery. Other than that it was a very nice kit. I really have to work on my wetsanding and polishing. I’m afraid I’m going to sand through the clear and color coats so I didn’t get the finish as smooth as I would have liked. WIP here: Thanks for looking.

Nice but I think I’m going to go with gloss black.

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!
nickfzr61 replied to Belairconvertable's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Original mock up had the kits pro street tires. While it looks cool it wasn’t the pro touring look I’m going for so I ordered a set of wheels from Jays Resins. I think these look better for the look I’m trying to achieve. -

I’ve seen those Ice Man engines. Texas 3D Customs has some really nice engines too but they’re pricey Thinking about blacking out everything. Trim. Grill. Bumpers. Wheels. Everith. Black black and more black. Yeah Deep Maroon would be sweet but I’m really leaning towards black. Thinking maybe Satin Black for the body and Gloss Black for everything else.

Bought this kit to use along with a few others when I built my 55 Chevy Two Lane Blacktop car. Planning on building it more pro touring rather than pro street. I was thinking about buying an engine and other parts online but I’m going to try and use what I have laying around instead. Would really love to put a nice printed LS in it and I might have to buy wider front tires. First thing was to drop the whole car especially the rear. Still not sure about the color. Thinking about murdering it out.

That’s looking really good. You’re doing a real nice job onnit. I think I’m going to pick this kit up and drop it in the weeds. It would look great slammed.

Hobby Lobby 40% off Sale
nickfzr61 replied to nickfzr61's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Robert. Yeah they don’t have much of a selection but at 40% off the price is right. Funny but to me this topic doesn’t fit in any category listed. Don’t get me started on the horrible search engine . -
Grill is done. Did I mention how much I love this kit? What a difference when people who care make model kits instead of bean counters
-
Thak you Dan. Mike They have that texture molded into them. I think I mixed Tamiya Flat brown and Metallic Grey for the color. It is a very nice kit.

Nice. I, like you have a spot in my heart that is near and dear to this body style. I’ve had two ‘71 Mach 1’s in the past and have been longing for another for many years. They are my favorite Mustang.

Maybe because I wasn’t sure where to put it. Sorry for causing such an issue. ? -
Well as most of you probably know every now and then Hobby Lobby has a 40% sale on boxed model kits. Any time I’m in the area I check in to see if I can catch it. Last night I picked up these: $19.79 for the Boss $17.99 for the Vette

Started on the body. Scribed the panel lines and sanded. Airbrushed a 1:1 mix of Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 Pink and Mr Color Thinner. First time using MR Hobby products and I am very happy so far.
