Rear trunk opened up. Man, I’ve always admired you guys that kit bash and scratch build but this is giving me a whole new dose of respect for you guys. Sounds so much easier than it is. I just hope I can do this build justice.

That’s got to be the best one I’ve seen yet. He really nailed it.

Built up the firewall with styrene sheet and opened up the rear quarter wheel openings. Also removed the vent window frames on the doors and glued the hood to the fenders and removed the inner fenders. Still have to putty and sand the firewall and give the rear wheel openings a little lip.

As others have said your builds are amazing. So realistic. Your 1/24 and 1/25 builds are indistinguishable from the real car. I can only imagine what you would do with a 1/12 scale model.

Nice. Looks good to me. Remove? No way. Post em if you got em.

A few shots for reference. I’m pretty sure most here are familiar with the movie but I thought I’d put up a few pictures to set the mood.

Sanded the side trim off of the rear quarter panels and doors and cut off the front end. I got a feeling this is going to take a while.

So I was at Hobby Lobby last week and they had a sign up that said 40% off all plastic kits. Well I couldn’t turn that down so after getting my mothers, I mean my wife’s approval, I bought these with the intent of trying my hand at my first kit bashing project. The 55 Chevy from Two Lane Blacktop. 55 Chevy for the body. 40 Willys for the tires and suspension and the Chevelle for the tunnel ram intake.

Beautiful looking Charger. Came out real nice. Great Mopar collection too.
-
Very nice build. I can smell the exhaust.

I know what you mean. Back in the early 80’s I passed on a 64 convertible vette in very nice condition for 5 grand and in the late 80’s a chassis up restored big block 70 SS Chevelle red with black stripes and red interior for $12,000.00. I wish that I knew what I know now. When I was younger.

Thank You. I did many light coats of the clear. Maybe 8 or 9.
-
The clear coat was Tamiya straight rattle can. The color coat was Tamiya decanted and airbrushed.
-
Clear coat is on. Now we wait. Then we wet sand. Then we polish. See you guys in a month. Wish me luck.

Yeah baby!

Models coming out real nice. I like the dog dish hub caps much better.

This is coming along real nice. Good attention to detail. Gotta love that huge AC compressor.

Thanks Mike. Yeah black with red stripe’s and the turquoise with white stripes are my favorite combo’s for the chargers.
-
Thank You. Yours is coming along nice too. For the wood in the console I lightly mixed Tamiya flat brown and flat earth and brushed it on. Tried to grab both colors together but separately if that makes any sense.
-
Painted the body and applied the decals. Ready for clear coat and the wait for it to cure before wet sanding, polishing. and doing the mouldings.

Love Mopars especially Hemi cars.Engine looks good. Following this one.
