What kits do you collect?

Nice! Is that your dedicated “Cobra Closet”? -
1950’s chevy snub nose truck

Thanks Casey. That is the picture I saw. Do you know if that Worthpoint site actually sells things or has links to a seller? Has anyone here dealt with them? -
1950’s chevy snub nose truck
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, I see a 1950 2dr and have seen pictures of a ‘58? 4 dr. They don’t seem to be in the resin business anymore, as every item is out of stock on their website. So unless I can find one on eBay…. Thanks, I have two ‘55 Cameo kits which made me entertain this idea in the first place. I think cutting and splicing that cab may be a little too ambitious of a project for me though. -
Was a version of this truck ever kitted in 1/25 scale or maybe in resin? I’d like to attempt a version of this. https://www.rodauthority.com/features/car-features/1955-chevy-snub-nose-cameo-tug-boat-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air/

Those look real nice! Which one of your airbrushes do you admire most as a precise instrument, and which one do you find yourself using most often as the workhorse?

Picked these up yesterday actually. I have never been a big user of CA, especially the super thin stuff. I had made a couple of applicators from a ground down needle eye and some sprue. I have to say, these work WAY better! I just might be Bob Smith’s newest fan…??

Those look nice. I just checked out their website and it looks like everything is 1/24th scale. It would be nice if they listed the actual dimensions.

Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
NOBLNG replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This thing is even glue-bombier than I imagined! ? Springs are crooked and not in locating spots. Steering column doesn’t meet up with firewall. Distributor and coil locations reversed. RH valve cover is upside down. And…the exhaust manifolds are glued with the outlets facing the block. I sincerely hope that this was owned by some youngster who was in just a little over his head and didn’t get the guidance they needed. -
I never shake my paints, and certainly not in the spray jars. I use a battery operated mixer. You could use the one solid lid supplied with the kit for the shaking if that’s what you want to do. I think the Paasche jars are OK for short term storeage. If you are worried about the air vent drying out your paint, put a piece of tape over it.

That is really looking excellent Roger. Perfect job on the trim and that colour looks great on it.?

I went to Michaels today to buy an exacto knife handle and came home with this instead. I was surprised to see that they have a few new kits in, including the new tool Jag. I wish it was 1/25 scale! ? I thought they were getting out of models and model supplies.

Just my thought…you could shorten the original raised fender detail so it ends over the front wheel like in Keith’s illustration. Then it will not conflict with the new side trim?

The Grape Crate - a (mostly) scratchbuilt Model A Woody

Great job on the woodgrain! That is going to look fabulous when it’s all together.? -
Well, I am a bit of a pizzaholic! ?

Search Engines….Just for kicks I went on Kijiiji today and typed in 1/25 scale models. Some did pop up, but I also got die casts of all scales. It even decided that I might be interested in a pressure washer or a commercial pizza oven!??♂️

I just picked this one up recently so I’ll be watching too. I seem to prefer two tone paint jobs on these old fendered units. Whatever you come up with will look great I’m sure.?

Do you buy pipe screens at your local head shop?? -
I bought these a while back and they seem to be pretty good. I will usually grab a new blade if I am doing something intricate. But if I am just scraping flash or hacking away at something, I’ll give it a few swipes back and forth on the diamond hone. It only takes a few seconds.

Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
NOBLNG replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am hoping to get it apart. I have another identical kit that has not been started. I will scrape as much glue off as I can first. If I can’t gently pry them apart then, I will try the freezer. -
Great job on that dashboard! The interior looks nice too.?

My BSI thin CA has gone yellow and thickened up…so time for some new stuff. My local HS has been unable to get Tamiya LP-5 for a long time now. He is now stocking this Mr Hobby laquer paint. I hope it is as good as the Tamiya stuff.

Airbrush purification cup
NOBLNG replied to R. Thorne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I’ve never had to filter any paint, just mix it well. If the paint is lumpy, toss it and get some fresh stuff.
