  1. Is that really styrene? I would swear that is an old stamped steel toy that was stropped and left to rust.?
  2. Thanks Guys. This is an old thread that I posted a link to in another thread. I was hoping to give a fellow modeller a heads up on the issues I encountered.
  3. Scratch built (mostly) a new 1/25 scale NP205 transfer case...right hand drop for GM or Dodge. Top case is the 1/24th scale one from the GMC plow truck. Right hand one is from Mobius F-100, that I copied the rear bearing cover and output bearing housing from.
  4. Looks to be very nice definition on the castings.
  5. Well my first attempt at casting accessories for a Buick engine was a complete failure. Air pockets everywhere.? I’ve only recently gotten back into modelling so I don’t have a huge stock of parts kits. And I hate robbing a single part from a kit...thus making it un-buildable.
  6. I cast some engine accessories for my resin engines. This time I made a framework of styrene that becomes part of the lower half of the mold. The result is little tubs that I can pour the resin into. I can fish out any large air bubbles with a toothpick and then put the other half of the mold on. The resin has nowhere to go but into the voids and out the vent holes, taking any remaining air bubbles with it. Virtually perfect casts this time.?
  7. Real nice work!?
  8. Good job. Nice photography too.
  9. Looks very nice. I wouldn’t have thought to combine a red interior with the orange but they actually look good together.?
  10. Neat looking model. Something you don’t see everyday.
  11. For foiling rough surfaces like this I have used a large soft eraser to press the foil down. I also have an eyeliner pen I got from the wife that has a very soft rubber tip on it that I use sometimes.
  12. I had some troubles with this one. Interference between the tub and windshield/cowl for one. I also wound up separating the subframe from the floor pan and installing them separately. Good luck with it. Check my build thread here if you like. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/133121-amt-70-12-camaro/page/2/
  13. Nah, looks like chunks glued on. I hope that’s not someones model I’m dissing!
  14. Here’s the prototype for that one.?
  15. I was thinking the same thing...and boy did it ever POP! Real nice!
  16. Absolutely beautiful work. As everyone said, the stance is perfect. I think these would have sold as real vehicles... of course Olds wouldn’t have decked it out as nicely as you did!

    29 model a

Nice. Very good job on weathering that body!
  18. The problem with most buckets is that they may be reclined too much to fit a small cab. They may have to be slit and modified to a more upright position?
  19. Saw this today at Giant Tiger. I passed on it since I’m not really into die casts...but after finding this thread, I might go back and get it.
  20. I am going to replace the pan. It’s pretty much the only part seen so I am OK with the rest of it.
  21. Here it is. The pan is not the best, but with some minor work it will look great. Has Anyone added dipstick tubes?
  22. Wow, this is an old thread. But since it was brought up...I just picked up this MPC ‘86 El Camino. It looks to have a pretty decent 305 and turbo 350. It even includes a heat riser duct and a mechanical fuel pump.
