MB New Actros Lowliner
Hermann Kersten replied to Hermann Kersten's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello everyone, Thanks for your nice compliment and admiration Sam, I appreciate it enormously, honestly! Thank you Brian!!!! Thank you Dennis, I like it when people get inspiration from my models, I also do that from others. I also show that a lot can be made by yourself without having to go straight to after-market products, if it doesn't work out, you can still buy it later or omit the detail. And we continue! The chassis is painted with spraycan of grey carpaint and all areas were hit well despite the cabling and many other attributes. After the spraying session, I painted various parts with the brush, such as the protective covers of the engine, the protective grille of the radiator, air spring bellows and the brake discs. Then install the engine, radiator and drive shaft, and then connect various cables to the engine, gearbox and the Voith Retarder. However, there was 1 problem, the paint had chipped off on 1 tank strap. I had experienced this before with another Actros build, so no panic for me. That means, strip off the paint, put a piece of paper between the tank and the strap, fix the end of the strap in the tank support, and fix it again with a soft brush and some car paint from the spraycan. The modified rear hubs, which now also have the gray chassis color.... The space between fuel tank and exhaust, so that the details can still be seen .... The air conditioning pipes on the radiator, with 2 rubber hoses at the top, which are later connected to the pipes on the cabin. And an overall picture.... And last, with the cab loosely placed on the chassis for the overall picture. This Actros is already moving towards the finish line, but a lot of work still needs to be done, especially small detailwork. That was it so far! Hermann. -
Hello everyone. First of all, I want to thank you all, both the viewers and responders, for your interest in this project, I appreciate this very much . To be honest, I am a bit surprised that there is such an enthusiastic response to this Japanese truck. I was a bit hesitant in the beginning to post it on a US forum, because I thought maybe Americans were not so much interested in Japanese trucks. So, now you see how a person, like me, can be so wrong. Chucky, 2 answers....no and no. In my private- and professional life, I have absolutely nothing to do with trucks. After I built a lot of military and aircraft models, I got stuck in truck modeling, because you have so much freedom in building them. Before I start, I look for as much information as possible, and there's a lot to be found out there. After I have collected this info, I will start working on it, and see what I can use in this scale to create a model that is as realistic as possible. Years ago I made a number of metal models, a nascar 1/10 and a Messerschmitt BF109 1/24, where you can go into great detail. Now that I work with styrene, which is a very pleasant material for these types of structures, I try to maintain that level of detail of the metal models as much as possible with these truck models, and see how far I can go with styrene and some times with brass parts so that it remains nice. Thank you for your enthusiasm Jeff! Thank you for the compliment Dave. Thank you for this nice compliment Brian! Thank you Danno. Thank you Dan, I do my best to keep it that way. Thank you for your nice compliment Vince. Thank you Brian. Thank you Mark. Thank you for the nice compliment Dennis, and I will post as many detail photos as possible. Hermann.

Ghost Kits - Shown But Never Released
Hermann Kersten replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Last month i bought this one for a nice price, it is a 2 in 1 kit. When I start this, it will be a stock version. The Revell re-issue of the old Monogram Buick GNX will also be released soon. I already have done a pre-order.? Hermann. -
Last year I bought this one at a Dutch modeling fair for €25,-. I never buy these old kits on E-Bay because there are too many "unjustified" gold seekers out there. Last year and this year I was able to get a number of old kits from the 80s for reasonable prices, including a number of Esci and Revell and Tamiya Mercedessen. The most expensive one was from Mike's Dutch Sale, a Mercedes 560 SEC Lorinser from Tamiya, I picked it up at $ 35 because I was afraid it would go out soon. It proves once again that patience is definitely rewarded. ? Here a view below €25,-.... Hermann.

I work for years with the free NSonic JPEGG Compressor, what I downloaded from a German modeling forum. You download this compressor on your computer and save in it in your programs. This JPEGG Compressor is very easy and userfriendly. You can sharpen photos in this program, and load them directly into any forum from your documents. My photos are 800x600 at 74KB, and fit on any forum. Size and KB can be changed, including sharpness and a watermark or copyright. And with frame.... In this way you are not restricted by costs, number of photos, or online conditions. Hermann. Edit: Here some examples. And below a link, note that everything is written in German. 21 hours ago, when I updated my Fuso Super Great topic, i got a "404 not found". Luckily I saved the written piece in "google translate", after a few of the same experiences before. So i closed my Morzilla Firefox, deleted everything with CC Cleaner ( cookies and so on) and go back and login again to the MCM forum. After copy-past the text from "google Translate" to the topic, i could attach the pictures and submit everything, and all was good. I have no idea why i get this "404 not found" code in the first place. Hermann..

Hello guys, This model was not involved with Daimler, but the facelift model was.....and many other brands. The last Fuso is the New Super Great with a chassis and engine from the Mercedes Benz New Actros and a cabin from Mitsubishi. The interior is a mix of Mitsubishsi and MB New Actros. These fusos are mainly active in Asia and some in Australia. The logos are maid by hand and a Acto scalpel and a thin nail file. Ok guys, today i will make this topic up to date with the other Fuso topics. With updating it is then easier to do all of this at the same time. We start with the chassis, what is made out of 0,75mm thick styrene. With the clamping between brass tubes I let the chassis dry in this way, so that everything stays perfectly straight. The rims are 3D printed, because these rims were not available in resin. You can't sand them, because the roughness runs through the entire material. Filling with a filler is the only option, normally I prefer resin, because it is easier to process, and is also smooth on delivery. Then it is the turn of the air reservoirs and the auxiliary chassis for the scissor mechanism. The modification of the rear axle that comes from the FLC kit, and the construction of the shock absorbers and an air block. After this the construction of the scissor mechanism itself. This is fully movable. Because this Fuso belongs to the CAT-M category, it must be able to reach up to 7 meters. This is to be able to supply the Boeing 747 to the 2nd deck. With this model we are talking about a height of 29 cm. And a test with the Marmon box. Then make the support legs. With this Fuso, only the front pots are extendable. This is not the same for all caterers, some have 4 fixed legs, and others have 4 movable support legs. With these supporting legs that I make, are made with a threaded end, so that these legs have to be turned out. This rests the entire model on the support legs. And the front legs attached the chassis... And of course the rear. The next job is to make a hydraulic tank, fuel tank and a cooling unit. And lastly, making the battery box And everything in the black color. Ok gentlemen, now the topic is up to date. This was it for today and until the next round! Hermann.

Freightliner FLA FSBA 1/25
Hermann Kersten replied to Hermann Kersten's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello guys, Thank you for the warm welcome of this model, I really appreciate your comment and enthusiasm. Hermann. -
Hello everyone, Today i start a new topic what is already on going for a while. I wanted to come up with a different idea of a model, and I ended up with this version. The Fuso can only be obtained from Aoshima, 1/35 or the older model in scale 1/24. For a newer model Fuso, from the 90s or higher, you have to make it yourself if you want it in a 1/24 scale, because I also think the Fuso is a cool truck, which you see very little in truck modeling land. In my opinion, an airport catering truck makes it even more special than a regular tractor or straight truck. With this project i start to show you the construction of the cabin, and will bring this topic to the current state of affairs. This is the guy we talk about.... And here i start with the scratch work of the cab. The whole cabine is build up with double styrene plates of 0,5mm thickness. Then with luck, with a modified windscreen from an Actros kit, I can make a suitable windscreen for this Fuso. Then make the fender edges, where I chose the small version. There are 2 sizes, high and low versions, but at this airport catering Fuso's I see most of the time this smaller version. After I filled up and sanded all the small unevenness, i had to make the 3 speed lights in the front of the roof. And the start of the flooring plate.... Ok guys, this was it for today, and the next round we will continue with the chassis. I hope you will find this again an interesting topic ...... even if it is a Japanese. ? Hermann.

MB New Actros Lowliner
Hermann Kersten replied to Hermann Kersten's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello everyone! Thank you Mattias! Yes gentlemen, today the construction of this Lowliner has come to an end. The last modifications or details concern the engine. This engine is already nicely detailed, but in my eyes some crucial elements were missing, such as fuel pump, fuel lines, electronic modules on the gearbox and engine, and of course the Voith Aquatarder that sits on the rear of the gearbox. After this work i had to paint everything and when the chassis is painted, than i can connect the last wires to the engine and gearbox. And placed loosely between the chassis for the overall picture.... Now I can start with the cabling of the chassis, and after that, the paint job of the chassis. That's it for today! Hermann. -

Beautiful, you did an awesome job on this one! Hermann. -
Hello everybody, Thansk for the nice comments guys! Yep, today it's the last update about the contsruction of this project. The windscreen wipers, antenna and the lower grill and air horns are now made, painted and the Wipers and antenna are attached to the cabin. With the undergrill and the air horns i am still working on it with the Molotow Chrome marker. For the air horns, i modified the parts from the latest 1/24 FLC-kit, the tubes have been reused, on which I have made 2 new front housings, which are made on a 1/25 scale. The delicate job of wipers...... The antenna what i made from a 0.4mm metal wire..... And the delicate work of the lower grill, which is now silver painted and placed loosely on the bumper for the looks..... Yes gentlemen, just the last few things and then it's done with this one. Hermann.

MB New Actros Lowliner
Hermann Kersten replied to Hermann Kersten's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello gents, Today I will show you the progress of the chassis. To start with, I made the plug connections for the wiring of the rear brakes from small, very small and very very small parts. I had to be careful in terms of space, because the battery box fits very short on the rear axle, and therefore there is little space. Whatever the case, it all worked out well in the end. After this detail job i sprayed the whole chassis in a black primer. This black primer is a good base for the dark grey colour, what will be used after the wiring is attached. Let's go see the pictures ...? Then the rods for the electronic height adjustment of the air suspension that keep the chassis at the correct height when weight of the trailer is added. And the whole chassis in the black primer ...... That suddenly looks very different, instead of the white styrene. The next job is installing the wiring. That was it for today. Hermann. -
