This is my build for the 50 Years of Mach 1 CBP. It’s going to be a ‘69 Mach 1 with a bunch of parts from the ‘10 Shelby. Hopefully the only things needed from the Mach 1 are the body, chassis, and interior pan.

If this needs to be moved to the Q&A section, that is completely fine. I just wasn't sure where to post this. I would like to build a UP themed Mustang for my Grandfather. What colors would be closest to Union Pacific?I don't have an airbrush yet, so spray cans are kinda my only option... Here is the engine that I'll be basing the build on.

The 50 Years of Mach 1 CBP is now under way! Happy building! -
Got the front and rear pans attached, sanded the mold lines, and filled some gaps on the body. Next step is to fill in a small blemish above both headlights.
-
Slowly but surely getting the interior apart. The seats aren't budging from the interior pan, so I'll work on them after I strip the paint off.

Only three days until this CBP gets under way! Currently we have 5 participants: Hotrod 97 (me) vamach1 madhorseman Rusty92 Jordan White Anyone else interested in joining at the moment? The invite remains open during the build window - just remember that we’re aiming for a September 23rd completion date. -
Very good catch. I though something looked odd, but couldn’t quite figure it out. Thank you for noticing!
-
Thanks! Sounds like some really neat projects!

Here is how the body turned out after about 4 hours in the Purple Pond. The side scoops came off very easily, since they were applied after painting.
-
Thanks much, Snake! I appreciate the support and encouragement!
-
I had an idea to make final assembly easier - what if I cut the engine bay out of the body and attached it to the interior/chassis assembly, like this? Any thoughts?
-
Got some more paint stripped. Just need to fine tune the interior pan and dash, and then it'll be ready for primer.
-
Looks great so far. I’ll be following for updates.

Tough lookin Cobra. Nice job. If I may ask, where did you get the engine from?
-
Thank you very much for the guide, Rex. It sure will come in handy. I didn’t know that the stripes had different widths. Now time to get the body stripped and repainted...
-
Thank you for the info on the decals, Randy. Keith Marks does make a ‘65/‘66 GT350H decal sheet. I was planning on trying to get the side decals to work, and paint the top stripes.
-
I appreciate the input. I though about doing that, but I’m not quite happy with the overall finish of the paint. IIRC, it was 4 decent coats of gloss black over bare white plastic.
-
No worries at all. Sounds like you have a great collection. Thanks for the heads-up about the wrinkling hood decals. Out of curiosity, what type of paint did/do you use for the center stripes?
-
Thanks, Jacob! I’ll keep you updated!

Since the '67 Shelby and '64 Indy Pace Car projects are slow going, I though I'd add another one to the workbench to keep me busy. This one is another rescue and restore. I started it back in 2015 and never saw it finished. The body has some dust and lint in the paint, so it'll need stripped and repainted. It appears that there was a failed attempt at decaling the hood and rear panel. The interior and chassis assemblies were painted gloss black without any primer. The wheels and engine don't look too bad, but I'm still going to refresh them. More to come after I get some parts disassembled and stripped of paint.

I got a couple more Mustangs. A '69 Boss 302 from HL And an '07 Shelby that a friend gave to me. He said he bought it a few years ago and never touched it since. The chassis is started and some parts are missing, but nothing that can't be fixed or replaced.

Good question, Rex. The build window is June 21 to September 23 - the first day of Summer to the last day of Summer. -
Got some supplies for the Workbench. Sandpaper, hobby blades, Dremel cut-off wheels, a jewelers saw with extra blades, and some New and Improved Bare-Metal Foil. I also got some more Mustangs to build.
