  1. Hi Sir! Now I know why I fell odd while building it! LOL. Now it makes sense. Thank you! CT
  2. Hi Bob! Wow, impressive job! It's a chore to run lines on 1/1 cars... I can imagine the hours at the bench for this car. World class, bravo! CT
  3. Hi Rob! That's exactly what I was shooting for: have FUN building something that defies any logic. The styrene gods allowed it, I guess? CT
  4. Hi Chris! Thanks. I try to keep up on the coolness chart, but it gets harder every day...
  5. Hi Juergen! Thanks for the comnments. To your point about the paint, still, it's simply Testor"s Wet Look clear (spray can), not sanded but vigourously hand-rubbed with Farecla No, 6 compound. I am saddened that Testor's pulled out this product. To me, it was most effective, mostly due to its perfect viscosity. Tamya's TS 13 is fine, but lays out much thinner, and evaporates over many more days. You are often faced with surprising "gloss reduction" a few weeks later. Therefore, you have to wait for final polishing, at least in my experience. I tried to stack-up on Wet Look as much as I could, but it is hard to come by nowadays. If you can get some, do it! Will Revell's new spray clear bring good news? I'm still waiting for my first can soon. We'll see... CT
  6. Hi Francis! Thanks for the comments. With twin Hemi, I should have known it would end up on your radar, sooner or later! As for painting, having seen the world class finishes you throw on your creations, I have no doubt you'll be up to the challenge on your Dodge PU. But if you ever are wasted when you come to this step, I'll be happy to chip in. CT
  7. Hi Misha, thanks! This kind of centrally located coil was used on many show cars in the 60s. Mind you, most only rolled from the transporter to the arena, so... CT
  8. Hi Tim! Thank you so much. The truth is that at most shows, people are puzzled by a "lakester", Many can appreciate the details, but have few references as to what it is. Hence, my choice to parody the famous So-Cal white & red paint scheme. If one car was widely shown in a myriad publication, it must be the So-Cal Coupe! That may have helped with the judges... CT
  9. Oops... a typo in the title: It should read POLE DEPOT DELIVERY. Sorry, I'm not good with computers... CT
  10. HI! In these trying times, why not a little fun with a pile of leftovers? Mash-up a trash-bin Revell 37 Ford panel cab, a Vette Agin central frame section, a Lindberg Dodge Caravan seat, two AMT 53 Stude blown engines, a 66 Nova dash, a 32 shell & headlights and unknown rolling stock (all modified). Scratchbuilt front & rear frame sections, suspensions, floor, tunnel, firewall, shifter, windshield, interior panels, 4 disc brakes, steering rack, hatch & tailgate, poles and custom decals. Throw in scratchbuilt metal headers, throttle cables, injector linkages, rear bumper & taillights. HOK Sunset gold base + Metalflake's copper candy + Testor's Wet Look clear & Alclad and Molotow chrome. Wired & hosed. Who said crazy show cars were a thing of the past? 60's live! Hours of fun with styrene! CT
  11. Hi Tom & Steve! Actually, the Beretta has been reissued lately. It is on the shelves of many LHS. The box art depicts a street-race scene with a green flamed Beretta. FYI... CT
  12. Hi Bob! I read that the voting determined the "winner" in each category, and that vehicles that finished 2-3-4 in each receive a "peoples choice" plaque. The other awards, I understand, are judged by a panel of ACME heads. But, I'm certain they tell more about that on their web site. CT
  13. Hi Francis! Thank you for the kind words. I'm told there is an official plaque that is coming trough the mail. I'll keep you posted! CT
  14. HI! I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to learn that my So-Can Speedster Bonneville lakester received the President's Award in the ACME online show. It is quite an honour, and I'd like to thank those involved. What a thrill! Regards, Claude Thibodeau
  15. HI! I was honoured by receiving an email from the President of IPMS-ACME, telling me my So-Can Speed Shop 32 lakester was awarded the President's Award in their online model show (these are Covid times, after all). This novel format was well executed, and pulled-in thousands of inscriptions. Bravo! Many thanks to all involved. It makes the hours spent at the workbench all the more pleasant. Regards, Claude Thibodeau
  16. HI! Two styles that you could argue are somehow "contradictory": My Speedwagon "à la Boydster", and my Rot 'N Roll rat rod. Hours of fun with styrene! CT
  17. Hi Bill! This is a truly impressive built, bravo! The oil field "shyline at sunset" (or is-it sunrise?) and black contrast on the flanks of the car is very appealing. CT
  18. Hi Steve and Tom! I had a sneak peak at Tom's Anglia... and let me tell you it's going to be a truly creative mash-up! You know, the kind of built that makes you say" I know they changed something.. but I can't tell for certain what it is"... which is what a true sucessfull redesign should aim for. CT
  19. Hi Paul! Bella's polish job on the PU deserves to be the pride of the family. She certainly carries on with the family tradition. Bravo! Her bright smile and even her white glasses are a perfect "match" for the white contrasting top on the Nomad. Nice pictures! CT
  20. Hi Sam! Delicious project, bravo! I'm curious: did-you scratchbuilt the twin propane tanks? They look very convincing. CT
  21. Hi Wayne! This thing should rule the track. Bravo! CT
  22. Hi Jason! Look forward to enjoy your creations! CT
  23. Hi! Well, gentlemen, it gives full meaning to the term "snorkel scoop". Bravo to both of you. There is never too many Bonneville cars! CT
