  1. Carl, if you have an extra wheelback, just grind away the wheelback from the axle. Something I've had success with is to hit the joint with Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. It will sometimes soften the joint enough to get things loose. If it's welded, not much hope. What is the axle/wheelback?
  2. I actually had to do the same thing with the 3-W I built a while back.
  3. Looking at your last photo, it looks like the frame horn covers may very well be the issue. I would remove them and check the fit.
  4. It's AWD. It'll handle and accelerate better than RWD.
  5. Thanx Steve! I'm really happy with how it turned out! I wasn't sure about the dull finish. But, I really like it over this color. I really do need to get away from the Dull Red interiors though. This makes the fourth or fifth model I've done with it.
  6. How is it Round2's fault that you lost an axle pin?
  7. That's a wicked cool looking old Chevy truck! The weathering is just right! Great idea on the cab corners. It always irks me to see those not molded in. But, it works on this!
  8. If we had a like button, I could have just pressed it instead of quoting and writing a response.
  9. Me too. Seems like a natural since Round2 has the '67. All it would take is a new body, interior panels and seats.
  10. I have a mint '71 to build someday.
  11. Thanx Rusty! I don't have a color picked yet. It'll have to be a dark color to go over the red. I'm not even decided on the style of it yet. I kinda thought stock for a minute. Also thinking low rider.
  12. I did a '68 a few years ago. But, I kept it promo style. If I ever get another one, I'll go full detail on it.
  13. I had a change of plan. Instead of using the '65 Impala chassis, floorpan etc., I've decided to go with those parts from an AMT '67 Impala for a few reasons. 1 separate frame. 2 better looking floor pan. 3 better fit width wise 4 the '67 has the engine I need. 5 underhood detail has better structure for the body. I got the hood opened. The styrene on it was thick! It took a minute to get it cut loose! I then cut the underhood detail from the '67, cleaned it up and installed it. It really helped strengthen the body once again. But, it wasn't as flimsy as I thought it would be when I cut the hood loose. I also use the cowl to fill the gap between the firewall and windshield frame. I glued the top pocket to the body. Next, I'll be cutting open the trunk.
  14. I wouldn't have known the year. I just thought they looked like original pieces. I have a minty '62 to build someday. Danged if yours doesn't make me think about building it stock. Problem is I nabbed the hubcaps to stick on a '60!
  15. Great restoration Mike! The colors suits it really well! What's the source of the hubcaps?
  16. I really like this Chevy Steve! Especially the paint! I remember asking about it. But, don't recall the color. What was it again?
  17. Thanx Tim! I love the unibodies! I want a full scale. But, haven't found the right one yet.
  18. I figured it was an MPC since they had the promo contract with Chevy. I always paint. Polished plastic looks like polished plastic. Plus, I've had to do a little surgery on the body. I have the windshield frame glued permanent and the top fitted. The windshield frame fit quite well with a little trimming. On the rear deck, I cut the tulip panel from the '65 and grafted it in. I'll also be adding the top pocket behind the rear seat. I'm debating on whether to glue it to the body or the rear seat. I think it will look/work best glued to the body. It would give me a true separation between the seat and the pocket.
  19. Me too. There's something about bringing them back to life. I'll be opening the hood and trunk. Doing some test fitting. Looks like the '65 windshield frame and top are going to work.
  20. I bought this a few years ago on ebay. I got a good deal on it for an obvious reason. Besides the broken windshield frame, it was in good shape and all there. My first idea for it was to use the top from a '70 Impala and turn it into a hardtop. That idea faded over time. The new plan is to bash it with a Revell-Monogram '65 Impala. It'll provide most (if not all) of the parts needed. Lots of work ahead! The first task will be to repair the windshield frame using the one from the '65. Then get the uptop fitted.
  21. Really nice looking Ranchero Stuart! Color, wheels, tires and stance are dead on! Nice work!
  22. First, the opinions of a few should not count for all. Why do people think the forum will crash and burn if a simple "like" button is added? No one will be forced to use it! There are people on the Internet that literally don't have the time to write a thougtful, meaningful, correctly punctuated response to every thread they look at. A "like" is better than nothing at all and especially better than false praise. I belong to the TRaK forum and this subject was brought up. Naturally, the "like" haters came out. But, there were also those that approved of it. So, it was decided to give it a trial run and it was added. Guess what? Nothing changed! Those that wanted to use it, did. Those that didn't, didn’t. Although, some that were against it the hardest have used it. Imagine that! It's a simple choice whether one uses it or not. Those that believe in meaningful, thoughtful, correctly punctuated responses can still do so.
  23. I'm with you Patrick. Although, I hardly ever look at old threads. I wonder if it would be possible to set the forum up so that it only holds so many pages per section. Kinda like how a page holds so many threads before it gets bumped to the next page. Instead of the oldest thread going to another page, it just gets automatically deleted. That or go back to 2011 and delete everything older. If nothing has happened in ten years, chances are it isn't going to.
  24. The roof on this Nova wagon is Tamiya Racing White. This Comet is Model Masters Wimbledon White. Both are over gray primer.
