  1. I've been following this build pretty regularly the other site but I just had to chime in here and express how impressed I am with this project . Your work just keeps getting better and better, amazing!
  2. Thank you Francis that means a lot! The goal has been realism from the start. I don't have the skills or equipment to be able to produce work at the level that you, Cody and others are capable of , and that's OK and I am pleased that the model looks plausibly real.
  3. The parts in the photo are untouched, the finish will need almost no prep, the best 3D parts I have seen so far and the detail is just as good.
  4. This is as far as I can go on the chassis. Moving on to the body as the Pearl powder that was used on the original car 40+ year's ago arrived last week. Going to shoot some test panels first before committing the body as this is the real deal Murano pearl and could easily overwhelm the existing colors on the body. Still waiting for the custom decals but the can go on last as the originals were painted on after the clear on the original car.
  5. The new LPS1320 3d printed 392 hemi and bellhousing have arrived this is the first try at mounting them, close to the 3 degree dump right out of the gate, and the bellhousing couldn't be much closer in shape to the original. I can now start setting up and mounting the drive line in this model
  6. Thank you Jim, brass is different for sure but in a lot of ways it simplifies the process.
  7. In the process of finishing up details on the chassis while I wait for the pearl powder and decals to arrive so the body can be completed. The Royal Canadian is held up waiting for the motor to arrive . Here is an early mock up of the chassis, a couple of the out of scale details have been corrected since this was taken and the body work has also been finish since this photo.
  8. Thanks so much Marcos. I bought the wheels from Ted's Modeling Marketplace, the tires are from the Wynns Winder Kit. The wheels do come with O-rings that look OK but aren't nearly as convincing.
  9. I made a brass front axle for the car, mock up of the rollbar in place, first time sitting on the front suspension, axle and tires and the ride height is correct, looks like I got the drop on the front axle correct. The comp resins Donovan is about to be replaced with LPH1320s new 3D printed 392 and the custom machined aluminum valve covers from Jeff Farris
  10. Front radius rod attachment points in and push bar redone to a more scale sized support tubes
  11. Thank you for the kind words Dan. Trust me no one is learning more than I am on this project, this is my first attempt at a brass chassis, and every update is into uncharted waters, at least till I have the chassis completed.
  12. Thank you Francis, I'm kind of enjoying this brass deal, I always thought nothing looks more like metal than metal, even when it's painted. Wish I had taken the plunge earlier.
  13. Structurally the chassis is complete, less the roll bar which has to go on last brackets and mounting points have to be added, but other than that virtually every thing bolts on.
  14. Hand built brass body? An incredible project on a completely different level. I can't wait to see this come to life!
  15. The engine is looking good, interested in seeing more.
  16. Thanks for the kind words Dale. You probably saw if the year it went east and ended up winning the Canadian Nationals. The rear wheels and tires were custom built out of aluminum with 3D printed centers and also included the plates for the two largest bolt patterns specifically for this project along the the nicest set of machined aluminum Donovan valve covers I have ever seen. The man responsible for this magic is Jeff Ferris out of Washington. They were not inexpensive as it was a one off deal, down to the correct back spacing on the wheels for this car. If your really interested message me and I get you his information
  17. Looks just like the set of files I have. Yours appear to work better than mine. LOL
  18. Rough mockup at 4 inch ride height to establish rear axle vertical positioning on uprights, motor plate fitted with the major details in place, fuel tank rough blank sitting on installed lower tank straps and secured with front corner hold down tabs
  19. Marcos, mid project "adjustments" like this are always a pain, and when creating a new design pretty much a matter of course, even on the full size cars. But the results are always worth the extra work. Your doing a great job.
  20. Well it looks like I'm in the minority, I really like the Mustang II as a racecar, I guess because I use to own one. That being said the Maverick looks great and the Fly's really suit the car, giving it a more purposeful look. Great choice!
  21. Francis you just keep raising the bar on this project. You said you hand finished the letters with a small file, How small?
  22. This is the chassis basically set out, only missing a couple of top cross braces but I need to start planning where the brackets and parts are going to go and when additional details have to be mounted
  23. Torsion bar tube and rear upper and lower hoops in, chassis is square and straight thanks to the jig I built this morning. All measurements checked from measurement taken from the real car, conversations with the owner , and close to 500 pictures from in period, current restored condition and during the restoration at Don Longs shop and others. The plan in the background I received from Roger Lee of a Woody RCE chassis from around the same time. I'm using it as a reference only confirm I'm on the right track. And the advantages of a large (30 INCH) monitor, I can take a photo and if I know the actual size of any one item IE upper frame rail, I can enlarge the image until that item is full size.. I can then measure most things that are in the picture as though the car was in my workroom to a reasonable amount of accuracy.
  24. Great progress on the steering shaft, waiting in anticipation of the next set of pictures.
