  1. No pain no gain Eric! In the end, your hard work will be rewarded and those hard working moments will be just another memory while waiting to jump on a new project. Those engines are beautiful as for the rest of the build!
  2. Daniel, I don't know how I missed all this build? Maybe I'm spending too much time on my workbench in my basement... This thing is just awesome, you are one of the most ingenious builders I have ever seen, no need for high end tooling, you deliver the goods all the time and that is the mark of a great builder! I love the stance, I can already imagine the pilot with his leather helmet and his pair of aviator-style goggle traveling some winding roads on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Impressive!!! ?
  3. Thanks Joe! Your comments are always appreciated buddy! Take care, Francis
  4. Thanks Scott, I'm glad to know you have this kind of feeling rather than being more disappointed with each visit, I'll try to keep going my friend, more to come!!! Take care, Francis
  5. Hey Claude, thanks for the comment! I was impatiently awaiting your comments on my latest modifications and your response is like the blessing I was waiting for my friend! I could have lowered the 4-link brackets even more for the clearance issue but it's enough and everything looks fine. I don't want to do anymore major surgery on the frame if possible, it has suffered enough... I will let it heal... I will be posting some pics with some pre-assembly to show the full setup this weekend so I hope to get your feedback on everything. Take care, Francis
  6. Perfect fit by the perfect donor, since they share the same DNA there will be no risk of rejection... Joking aside, this floor pan fits it like a glove so thank you for sharing this tip Roger, this will be helpful for a potential build of the Wally Booth Hornet! ?
  7. I agree with the change Joe, the newest version is nicer. Beautiful Bad A engine..., these little cars were rather well equipped on the mill side! Love so much this era of drag racing!!!
  8. Nice job Mike the car is beautiful and well done! I love that Mustang body style as a drag racing car! It seems that making scale models is a bit like riding a bicycle, it comes back quickly when you get back in the saddle... Welcome back!
  9. Thanks for the support Bob, having the approval and guidance of knowledgeable people is invaluable in getting a construction done right. I have a few more parts made for the rear suspension set-up so I'll probably be able to show you a temporary assembly next weekend, it looks promising... finally some substantial progress... ? Take care, Francis
  10. Thanks for your kind words Scott, coming from a great builder like you is an honor! Take care, Francis
  11. It's way too cool Eric, all this construction is a succession of cool stuff! You have talent, sir!!! ?
  12. Welcome back to the hobby and this great forum Jason! I'm from Canada (Province of Quebec) and also a big fan of drag racing so I hope to see some of your models soon! ??
  13. Great start Carl ! I also bought this A&N kit and it is amazing as you say but it seems most people are talking about missing parts. I'm not going to be building mine anytime soon, so I'm rather concerned about this potential issue when the time comes to start mine. I think my habit of making my own pieces will be welcome at this time, however all body parts are there and it's the what count the most! Nice color choice by the way!!!
  14. That's a rare bird! I only saw one on the road and it was painted exactly like yours. I don't know if other color combos were available (I'm not a GM specialist). I haven't seen a lot of 69 Firebirds, regardless of the body trim, so I'm assuming they were produced in smaller quantities than the 67-68 model years. Good job Thomas, it's absolutely beautiful and clean!
  15. Nice fabrication Scott, the snout of the differential looks great. I also love to use brass or aluminum pins when joining scratch built parts, it helps strengthen the structure and the end result is cleaner using less glue. Keep doing your good work!
  16. Thanks for the kind words Dave, It's been a while since I had your visit and your comments are greatly appreciated! I also dream of the day when we can all be together again in the same showroom, discussing our experiences and contemplating each other's work! Yes please dust off your bench and join the parade, it's good for the spirit! Take care, Francis
  17. I don't want to distract from the main topic of Dan's thread, I think the Power Wagon is an amazing bumper-to-bumper truck. However, I have to admit that I have a little preference for the Big Horn grille even though it doesn't look as sturdy as its big brother! You have a superb pickup Jeff, I'm jealous and beautiful landscape by the way!
  18. Hello everyone, The fall tasks are behind me finally, so I have a lot more free time to progress on the truck. Before I left for work, I wanted to show you some of my latest progress if I can call it that as these are mostly modifications of parts already made. Few weeks ago I had a very constructive discussion on this thread with my friend Claude Thibodeau about the triangulation issue with my 4-link set-up. I'm not an expert so I relied on the experienced man and made major adjustments to the rear portion of the frame (position of the 4-arm brackets) and the bottom 4-link arms, I went with something as suggested so I really hope this fixes the problem for good. I am now over 4 major surgeries on this frame and may have more to do to get all drivetrain components positioned as intended. I have already started other parts for the suspension and rear end, so I will try to update the thread with the almost final configuration next week. Comments are welcome and very appreciated as usual! Take care, Francis Modified bottom 4-link arms with braces added (0.047" brass rods welded to the main arms). Test fit for parallelism and clearance with the driveshaft. 4-link brackets moved, note the additional opening for the exhaust pipes even if I do not plan to put any (just a cool feature I think...). View from the other side. Viewed from the side, the 4-link brackets are now approximately 0.160" lower than before. Picture (12/2019) of the previous set-up for comparaison. the 4-link brackets were positionned too high in the frame arches.
  19. Thanks Joe, many more details to come buddy, some parts of the build are starting to take shape! Take care, Francis
  20. I'm very sad to hear about the situation with your wife Joe, I really hope things will turn around for the best as soon as possible my friend! The Maverick can definitely wait, your family situation comes first, we will be waiting for you and having a positive thought for you during these tough days!
  21. Great job Bob, you were very successful in removing the molded brake lines (that's the kind of detail I love to see). I love your plumbing job and the overspray is just like Mopar did back then. Beautiful Roadrunner in the making, keep doing your good work sir! ?
  22. This is what happens when you have a boundless imagination and a big back full of unused parts... but you still have to be talented and you are well equipped in this area my friend! With his brand new Green Plan, our Minister of the Environment will probably not be as impressed as me, but hey, the price of gasoline is going down so why not take advantage of it! This beast has 2 HEMI, it can only please me and I love the color by the way, can I take an appointment for the paint job of my current project? Another hit!!! ?
  23. Dan (iamsuperdan) you didn't have the idea to go hide it in your garage... ? Dan (Mopar - D) the tires are very nice, I will definitely buy a set for my Power Wagon too and thanks for the update my friend!
  24. Thanks for visiting my thread and your very kind and exaggerated comments Greg! This is my most ambitious project so far and it's very time consumming, despite the fact that I own the Modelhaus resin kit of this truck, I wanted a more accurate for most of the original body details (inside and out). The body modification started in May 2018 and I'm not done yet... I had to dig in all my resources to make all these parts and the adventure continues. This thing is really the kind of challenge I was looking for and I have to say I get what I pay for as they say! I made most of the mechanical parts so I will be coming back in the next few weeks with the final details on the body and the fabrication inside the cabin (mainly styrene parts) so I think this will be more in your field of interest, so check back every now and then for more update. The D100 is one of my favorite pickup and I'm a big fan of drag racing so this is the best of both worlds for me! ? Take care, Francis
  25. Yes, I saw it too! Pretty unrealistic price... it will probably remain unsold for years to come...
