Its a Jimmy Flintstone resin piece.
-
I took this out of the box numerous times to build but always put it back but this time I'm going through with it. The chassis and interior bucket dont fit, not even close its too thick, so the dremel will get a work out. The body outside is nice and smooth . Paint Im thinking will be a metallic , blue maybe red not sure yet. Going to build it curbside to hold the aggravation factor down.?

Thats looks sharp, very clean build on a not so easy kit.
-
That color combo is pretty sharp, and the wide whites pull it all together.

Thanks Ray, I do have a few more including a crazy scale VW Bug by Pyro with figures but I like to mix it up some..showrods,customs , trucks , resin and the odd duck.? Also thats one heck of a Cobra your doing, Ive been watching along.

Its done and Im glad. I had to make a few molds and cast some parts, make them fit, fill cracks, holes, sand and prime ,sand and prime and then sand and prime, add a few custom parts and spend a little time on the paint and it still looks like the elephant in the room ,but Palmer and Premier is part of model kit history , the joy of the cool box art and disappointment of its contents. They are the kits where even the most novice of builders can pick out the inaccuracies. No regrets , I did have some fun. I've built 2 now.

I put some color on the Lark and some thin strips of plastic on the fender tops and sides to give this old kit a little something. Maybe with white accents on the interior and some chrome on the body it can pop a little bit. Still working on a windshield, may have to go to a wood buck and vacu-form.

The body came out ok with gaps all filled in from being a multi piece body. I attached the interior wall to the body rather than to the floor like they suggested. Also went with a custom theme as the rear area had that too tall look. Lipstick on a pig but the longer skirts do something better. I did make a resin copy for the rear seat. I went back and forth with the rear tonneau cover idea but the seat won. Now its try for a wind shield.

Hmmm yeah the roof seems a little tall. I found this picture of the one that came with a tralier on the internet.

Frankenstein's Flivver

Thanjs Bob, and your right about taking a break from the usual stuff...with these there is no such thing as right or wrong, sits high or wrong color shade. Just build as you go.. The fuzz in the scoop is Angora craft fur strands from HobbyLobby. . Ive used it in 60's style build interiors and as hair on other builds. -
Tom , didnt Premier do a 1/32 & a 1/24th Falcon? I also remember there being a nice U-haul style trailer with the Falcon.

This is the only mock-up for this Lark, everything fits good enough, now just have to fill and sand in a few areas. I was able to find a steering wheel and a rear seat that is close in size and with a few cuts and some plastic the seat fits. The hard part left is all the sanding and clean up, I used a good portion of filler as this kit is mostly all multi piece and since it has many resin items , epoxy and super glue gap filler was used.

1961 Lincoln Continental convertible restoration
BIGTRUCK replied to Paul Payne's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Are you restoring both? The 1/2 roof Lincoln would make a great looking custom. I always have trouble repairing those windshield frames as they seem to get very brittle cleaning up glue residue. You have some good cadidates for rebuild, they should look sharp when done. I love seeing an old kit get new life. -
Did some work fitting this resin hood and resin cowl piece I made (a field where I have "0" talent but needed parts you cannot find) although the underside of the hood is a little thick with some sanding it fit pretty good . There was a gap where the hood met the cowl so ithat was filled in with plastic bits. I guess the hood is meant to open as it does have an engine consisting of 4 pieces, but no other engine bay details like firewall or inner fenders so I elected to mold in the hood . Next is thin out the front grille area and get it to fit. Im still missing the back seat and I have one in another kit so Im going to have to make one more mold to cast one.

I bought an old Premier Lark hardtop kit thats complete and inside was most of the convertible kit too. The parts that were missing I was able tk make some simple resin molds to make the parts I needed. All gray parts are kit, the light tan are the resin items. The only thing Im missing is the back seat but I'll figure something out. The "A" frame top was missing so that was the first repair. The cowl and hood fit will be the next issue along with the grille/light panel area. The odd scale looks to be 1/27th or 1/28th.

Every so often I enjoy building an old monster or caricature style kit. These old reissued kits bring back memories of building these kits in the 60's. This ones s PolarLights issue of the old Aurora kit. This is built using only kit parts except M&H decals on rear tires , cobwebs in the scoop, yo-yo string, red lenses in windshield frame lights and moon-tank between the engine and the tombstone grille because of the gap there. The shifter is in such a place on the lower right side that you would miss it if you didnt know it existed , legs are under the engine. I would guess his feet are the front brakes. No chrome parts in this kit so I used some Molotow chrome in some areas. Enjoy building something different and build it your way.

Ive built many a show rod but none with a back story like yours Ray. Nice thinking about others and great results.

Thank you..

On this one I knocked off the windshield frame and shortened up a Callaway Corvette windshield, combined a blazer 4x4 chassis with some of the MPCs Vette chassis. Used the MPC engine with a different intake. Resin tires and some parts box decals. Interior was left stock and painted 2 tone.
-
Anytime you need parts Izzy if I have them you got them. It looks like another fantastic build thats rarely ever seen.
-
Wife has me doing things before we go on a 4 day mini trip so its slow going on this 4x4 Vette project, but I did manage some work. Besides the paint I used 1:1 seat material scraps to make some carpet to go with the seats. The engine will be GM with velocity stacks since I'm only using the cowl area off the hood.I also cut the sides off the Callaway glass and went with white wheel on the spare tire. I probably will complete the interior before the trip and that will leave just the engine and drive train.

Being that high I agree bigger/wider tires, but Im just going to lower it by about half.
