Kenworth W-925Rbray47 replied to Brenton's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment I've built 3 of these KWs. You'll need to cut those axles some. Also, detailing that Cummins will have you scratching your head unless you're modeling a specific truck. There were many different filter locations and setups. Pick one that fits your truck and looks good to you.

The Revell 3406 is a big engine. It requires a lot of cutting and test fitting in a 1/25 conventional. Cabovers may be easier though.

73 to 79 Ford truck resin partsRbray47 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) I'd look for a resin or 3d bed. I've converted the camper special to regular, and it takes two beds to make it look correct. The spare tire well has to go, so the easiest way is using the inner bed from a donor. Also, for a 78, it'll need a gas door instead of a cap.

1/25 AMT Great Dane 40 ft. Dry Goods TrailerRbray47 replied to cifenet's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment That looks great. Makes me want to start on mine. Good to know about the ride height. The old IMC/AMT trailer sits low as well. Put 22s on your truck and it looks worse.

I really wish Tamiya offered more. I love their modern kits.

How many models are you working on at one time?Rbray47 replied to rossfox's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers Not usually, but I frequently put one away and start another. I recently put a shelf above my work area just for the purpose of working on two or more at the same time. When I put them away I often forget about them, so hopefully staring at a build all the time will help me finish them up.

Stranger Things BlazerRbray47 posted a topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Just finished this afternoon. Built out of box, except for scratchbuilt roof bar. Also used Aoshima Daytona steel wheels with tires from the Sod Buster kit.

I've never had any luck fixing a damaged windshield. After I switched to Testors clear parts glue, I haven't has many issues. I also use it for small stuff like emblems, door handles, etc.

These are nice kits. I built a couple of the Somonas when they came out. Also loved the Blazer version.

That would be helpful. About the only thing I stop into Walmart for is motor oil. The parking lots and the pathway to the toy section takes more time than I want to spend checking the half dozen stores in the area.

Lmao show us on the doll where Trump touched you. He's trying to right the wrongs from 100 years of failed foreign policy. If you want a strong economy and US jobs, it'll hurt in the short term. That's the problem today. Nobody wants to give up anything no matter the gains down the line. That's all I'm going to say on this topic and will show myself out of this thread. This is a modeling forum.

The long term downside to our tariff situation is, once they go away or stabilize (and they will) the retailers won't drop the prices back to sanity. Much like when production went overseas, prices continually crept higher instead of passing those savings onto the consumer. It'll suck, but that's the end cost of doing business with communists.

My First CarRbray47 replied to Wickersham Humble's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) 77 Impala 2 door. It was wrecked on one side so I got it for $475. The metric trans made it to about 130k miles and I swapped in a TH350. The 305 made it til 160k.

Lol I'm working on my kit right now. That carburetor looks cartoonishly oversized. Hopefully the air cleaner will hide it. I was looking forward to this kit, and in a lot of ways, it's great. The chassis will no doubt find itself lengthened and under an MPC pickup by someone. But, the odd sized parts, and the odd engineering (there's a dimple in the frame so the fuel pump clears) makes me wonder if we wouldn't have been better off by getting a simplified kit like the 76 Torino. It would've looked good and went together faster. I'll still buy more, and I guess that's what Revell was counting on anyhow.

It's starting to look like I have a thing for single axles lol This is the 2nd 921 I've built. This one started as the mixer kit from Ollie's. The rear axle and springs came from the White Freightliner, as well as the wheels. Unknown battery box was put behind the cab so it could have two under cab fuel tanks. As with all of these Amt Kenworths, the glass had ejector marks, so I cut new windows from clear plastic blister packaging. I went a little overboard with air electric lines, especially since all of them are sprayed black and partially hidden. I also converted it to single air cleaner, single headlights using amt 51 Chevy bezels, scratchbuilt the mud flaps and luberfiner.

Converting Fujimi wheels to Tamiya fitting?Rbray47 replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers I used Fujimi wheels on my Tamiya BRZ. I used a drill press to punch out the Fujimi rim center. Then I used styrene rod the approximate diameter of the Tamiya bushing holes, with one end mushroomed over a flame. I pushed them through from the outside. ETA pic shows the pin if you zoom a little. It was the only way to get the correct wheels like my 1:1

I've ordered from ST Supply a few times. A few of the rubber tires had issues, but I used them on the tandems, so not really a complaint since they're hard to see. Also, whatever those tires are made from is some unstable stuff. Don't seal them up in a display case, they let off some gas and make everything feel tacky. Besides a couple of misshapen tires, everything has been top quality and packed well.

What would YOU like to see as a modelRbray47 replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) I just wish there were more modern trucks.

Just finished this morning, built from the Revell snap kit. Converted to day cab and single drive. I started to detail it after building the bed, but decided to only add what can be seen while sitting on the shelf. The 3406 looks pretty good for what it is, so I may buy a couple more just for engine.

Atlantis rolls out ex Revell 57 Chevy Nomad.Rbray47 replied to John M.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews Me too. I tried to build it but the plastic was too brittle. The body broke into several pieces. Also had the blue molded 80s issue. Also built as a junker. Hopefully my skills are better now.
