Finished this one 2 weeks ago. Plan was to have a matching trailer, but I got sidetracked. Added Moebius singles, and a lot of scratchbuilt parts. The stacks are evergreen tube cut at angles, glued back together and painted with a Molotow. Paint is mostly Tamiya, except for the Rustoleum on the engine.

What ever happened to the AMT Ertl backhoe?
Rbray47 replied to the60falcon's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I saw a sealed backhoe at a swap meet not long ago. The guy had $100 marked on it. I almost made an offer but I'd probably never build it. -
List of kit semi-truck engines (how to find)
Rbray47 replied to TECHMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very helpful topic. Is there a transmission list somewhere? -
Thanks! Wheels are all Moebius. The fronts are from the super singles pack.

Thanks for the kind words! I took some more pics without the bright sun and dark shade. I tried my hand at detailing the engine. Every Cummins 350 I Google looked slightly different. So I just took what I saw and added what I thought fit the best. The headache rack is from the Alaskan Hauler with a top bar added on. I also cut out the door glass and made the mudflaps and weights.

Is this common?
Rbray47 replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I usually have at least one manual vehicle. In 12 years, my wife hasn't tried any of them. She says she knows how, but hates them. I ran into an issue that I hadn't thought I'd ever see. When I took my BRZ in to get the hail damage fixed, they had to find someone thin enough to drive it. -
I deviated from the box a little bit this time. I wanted to build it the way I would like to have a 1:1 set up, except I would need a flatbed for farm use. Maybe I'll add that later after I restock my styrene. Paint is Tamiya Pearl Green and Tamiya black.

Finished this one a few days ago. Built mostly from the box. I did stretch the frame quite a bit, along with make new mudflaps and top parts of the stacks. Paint is plain Tamiya Blue and Krylon short cuts Cotton Candy Blue. This kit wasn't easy for me to build, especially during final assembly, but it looks ok on the shelf.

That looks really good. I've seen those sleepers somewhere and wondered, does the cab have to be cut? Does is slip over?
-
Finished this one a few days ago. I extended the frame a little, and added dual straight pipes. They're just evergreen tubing painted with a Molotow marker. Scratchbuilt headache rack and few other small details. MTB 3d printed swan hood ornament. Other than getting the cab hood to line up, it went together pretty easy.

70's Diamond Reo
Rbray47 replied to leafsprings's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice truck, looks great with 2 holes. -
Thanks everyone.

My most recent build. Mostly box stock. I added Moebius singles, MTB swan hood ornament, scratchbuilt taillight panel, mud flaps, mirror hangers from .030 rod, and slightly modified stack. Paint is Testors metal flake red over black primer.

AMT 53 Ford pickup engine swap
Rbray47 replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used the straight 6 out of the amt 41 Plymouth. I rearranged a few parts to make it look like a Ford engine if you squint. So I'm sure other sixes will fit too. I deleted the metal wire axle by using stubs glued into the brake drums. -
That is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Thanks for the help. These will going on an Autocar and LTL 9000. I've scratchbuilt one but it didn't turn out the way I'd hoped.

Upcoming MPC Reissues - '79 Nova and '73 Cougar
Rbray47 replied to Justin Porter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'll pick one up. -
I'll have to pick one of these up when they're out. I bought a sealed original at a swap meet a few years ago. It's so horribly warped that I never finished it.

74 Ford F100
Rbray47 replied to bill lanfear's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I love it! Looks like one my dad used to have. 74 with a 240/auto and the same paint (originally) One of my earliest memories was the last ride in it, and by that time the most of the truck was in gray primer. -
Ollie's strike again
Rbray47 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I picked up the AMT 40 Ford, 65 Bonneville, and D50 at the store in Richmond, Ky today. They had what was in the flyer plus the mail truck. They won't last long as the ebay resellers will buy most of them this weekend. -
Ollie's strike again
Rbray47 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's been a couple of weeks or more since I stopped at my local Ollie's. Today I went back hoping they had some 70 Vettes or Myers Manx left. Nope. All gone. Not wanting to leave empty handed, I bought a 1/32 60 Tbird. Not sure it was worth $12.99 plus tax, but it'll be a fun change of pace hopefully. -
