  1. I actually prefer 1/24.
  2. It was called Garnet Red in the 90s, correct? I'm building a Revell Caprice and I was thinking doing it red on red. What paint would be a good match for the interior, something off the shelf at either Hobby Lobby or Hobbytown? Thanks!
  3. I wouldn't have bought one. It's not really the subject matter for me. (Maybe it is for some?) Its the "classic cruiser" box art. However my wife did pick one up for me, and it turned out to be a pretty decent kit.
  4. The Ollie's in Richmond Ky had a fairly good selection. I bought the Manx, Camaro 50, and 70 Corvette. They also had the Craftsman 64 Galaxie, 23 Depot Hack, 61 Ranchero, Copperhead dragster, one damaged Ford surfin van, as well as a couple 1/32 kits.
  5. Nice looking build. It's been a while since I built mine (Z28 small block) but my hood didn't shut right either. I shaved down the hood "hinges" because I think they were hitting against the firewall. I haven't heard of this issue before so I probably didn't install the firewall correctly.
  6. I started this over 15 years ago. Maybe I'll finish it one day.
  7. My wife picked me up one of each tonight from the Ollie's in Lexington. Back when kits were all mostly the same price ranges, I would only buy what interested me. But nowadays at $13 each, vs $30-40 elsewhere, I'm just going to pick up any that I find.
  8. About 30 or so. They cost too dang much, and I have a tendency to part out 2 or 3 kits to make a single build. When I was a kid, I could only afford one a month maybe. After I got my first job, I began to stack em deep. Had about 200 at one time. Built (or cannibalized) most of them.
  9. Tamiya. It can only be built RHD. I also have the Aoshima kit, which can be built RHD or LHD, but doesn't have an engine (some versions have an engine, some don't, and hard to tell which ones sometimes) Both kits replicate 13-16 model years. 17-20 was ignored and they skipped right to 2022 for the retool.
  10. Isuzu Gemini from Hasegawa. The kit had the headlights and taillights for both 88 and 89. I mixed the two on purpose. Can only be built RHD though. I used 17" wheels from a Tamiya BRZ even though they're 5 lug (gemini/spectrum/Imarks were 4 lug)
  11. Thanks everyone! It's been a long time since I've completed 10 builds in a year. I may have done 7 or 8 last year, which was pretty productive as well. My goal for 2023 is an even dozen. One build per month starting in January!
  12. Looks great!
  13. My BRZ. Also built my dad's truck, but no pics on this phone.
  14. Love that Olds!
  15. The Broncos I posted earlier were quickly found using duckduckgo image search. I was born in 79, and I don't recall seeing any when they were newish. My guess is any that were factory original may have been fleet vehicles?
  16. They may or may not have been an option, but they're out there nevertheless.
  17. Are those hubcaps a real design, or completely custom?
  18. HL in Nicholasville Ky had most of the new releases. I went specifically for the Supra, found it, and also left with the Bronco. Walmart in the same town had the 64 Olds hardtop for $22, so I bought it as well. I hate the new prices (especially at HL) as well. It is what is. I also didn't like paying $30k for my 1:1, but that's the world we live in now.
  19. Looking good! I haven't built one of these yet, but I plan to. In 65, my dad bought a new one in black. While he was in Vietnam, my mom got into an accident with it. When the car was being fixed, she had it painted pink lol. Dad wasn't happy, so he bought another one after he got home. The only thing that will give me trouble is, hers had a white roof rack.
  20. I used them on my Datsun.
  21. ...is there a list somewhere that shows equivalents? I'm getting ready to start another reproduction of models from my childhood. I need Testor's Ruby Red spray. I think I can use Tamiya Mica Red over black (car in question was Ruby Red over black) Also, I used their Jade Green metal flake a lot. I haven't seen that in a while either.
  22. Thanks for the compliments guys! I have been slowly building kits from my childhood that I messed up. This one is a replica of a build from the 90s, and I tried to replicate the look I was going for back then. The GN engine is from another one from around the same time that was broken at some point. You can see the Testors Chezoom Teal paint on the block that matched the car lol
  23. Just finished today. I shaved the body and filled in the fuel cap area, lowered it, and added a Buick GN V6. Paint is Rustoleum Sun Yellow over Mr Hobby primer.
  24. As a child of the 80s, I'm sad to say that I've never built this kit. Although I did find part of one in a box of parts I bought at a thrift shop. I think I reused the wheels on something, but that's about it. I'd like to give this kit a try sometime.
