  1. Tim, yes I had to shorten the length of the bumpers. They were ridiculously long. I then had to allcladII them.
  2. Here are some pictures of the real car. The top picture was the car at the Firecracker 400 the bottom one was at the World 600. If you'd like to see the wip click on the link below http://cs.scaleautomag.com/sca/modeling_subjects/f/31/t/130531.aspx
  3. This is the car that Dale Earnhardt drove in the 1978 World 600. It was one of Bud Moore's cars that Buddy Baker drove for him. Will Cronkite owned the car when Earnhardt drove it. This car helped Earnhardt get some exposure so he could get a ride for 1979, his rookie year in the Winston Cup series. This is also the car that was originally suppose to be driven by Willie T. Ribbs, an up and coming SCCA driver, but an unfortunate series of events allowed Earnhardt to get the ride instead. you can Google it if you haven't already heard the story.
  4. Great job. Glad this car is now in styrene. Lots of people drove this Olds back then.
  5. I use testors 1260 dullcote spray, but I decant it, and put it on with a brush. I only use it on tire decals. I don't know what would happen if I sprayed it on. It might make the decal ink run. Maybe since I put it on with a brush it drys before it can make the ink melt and run.
  6. Another top notch build, Tim. Very clean work.
  7. Yes, I like what if cars as well. I have always wanted to do a Rex White 64 Chevy to see what he would have been in, in 64, if Chevrolet had not pulled out of racing in 63. He was never happy with the Mercs he had to switch to when Chevy pulled out.
  8. Looks like a great job to me.
  9. What brand kit? Amt, Revell , Monogram?
  10. You sure that's not a 1:1 car that you disassembled and took pictures to make us think its a model? This kind of detail is just astounding.
  11. What kit is that? Kinda dark. Almost looks like a Lumina.
  12. Looks beautiful, Bruce. Yes, if you go trying to find Future your not going to find it . They have changed the name a couple of times but the bottle still looks the same.
  13. I just put on the decals and clear with future. I use a big wide soft brush to apply the future. That way I can wait until the model is completely finished before I apply the decals.
  14. Another awesome build , Tim. Super clean, and I like the way you did the roof and gave it a road course stance with right side filler.. The things that add authenticity to a build. Also you don't see a Charger 500 done a lot. Again , a beautiful build inside and out.
  15. Actually his last ride in a cup car was with the Crawford brothers in their 72 Plymouth, that eventually won the Talladega 500, with Dick Brooks at the wheel in 1973.
  16. Man, that's beautiful, Dustin. Great detail work as well.
  17. Touch up the silvered areas with flat black testors acryl from the bottle between the letters . get some testors dullcote clear and decant it into a bottle then brush the dull coat over the whole tire with a large soft bristle brush. It works. I do it all the time but not to correct silvering. I make my own tire decals and print them on white ink jet paper. after I install them I have to use the above process to hide the edges of the decal. It works surprisingly well.
  18. I'm sure it will.
  19. just looked at a ref picture of the real car and it looks like Steve nailed it perfectly. Kind of a darker red then usual.
  20. Looks like the company did a great job on the resin body. Or maybe it was your prep of the body that made the difference. Came out very smooth.
  21. another Awesome one in the making. What kit is that?
  22. Coming along very, very nicely. Detail is astounding.
  23. Thanks, Ryan.
  24. Super nice builds, both of them.
  25. Yeah, its starting to look that way.
