Another beautiful build, Dustin. Your work is so clean and your details are off the charts. Earnhardt would really be mad today about everything that has happened with nascar. Except the safety improvements, of course.

Awesome build , John. I stand corrected on the paint from the other post but still beautiful results no matter what paint you use.

I know if you try to use the ppp goodyear 50's truck tire with 6 lug wheel on a 1/25 scale 57 chevy they look way way too big compared to reference pictures of black widows that ran nascar in 1957. That's why I thought ppp wheels and tires were 1/24 scale. However if you use ppp 60's goodyear or firestone tires with ppp holman and moody wheels they look just fine on 1/25 scale mid 60's Fords, Chevys, Pontiacs, Plymouths or Dodges. JMHO.

Looking great. Looks like a high quality resin. Some of those can be pretty rough. Thanks for getting a wip going on this.

This one should really get the award for most obscure build when you pull it off. Hope you post some wips to take us along on the journey.

Dark blue metallic and gold. Testors bottle gold when shot with air brush is an excellent gold..

Just guessing, but it looks all flat black to me. Should look awesome when completed.

Tim, you are so right about that. The 59 Chevy that won the 59 Southern 500 looks nothing like the museum car.

My local Barnes and Noble, brick and mortar store, had a bunch of the fielden books for sale at clearance prices right before Christmas.

Charles, Some of the best reference, are books. If you have a "Half Price Books Store" in your state visit there . I have found many old nascar books there, chocked full of pictures and very inexpensive to buy. Also just do some good old googling on the internet. You will be surprised what you can find.

Amt kit. 105 hours to complete. This car represents my introduction to Nascar. One Saturday morning when I was 6 years old, I looked out the front window of my parents house, in Hampton Virginia, and saw a beautiful red and black car that I had never seen before. It was parked in front of my friend , Rusty McCaddens house. After my mom forced me to eat my breakfast, I ran down to see what was going on. Some of my other friends had already gathered to see this beautiful car. Turned out it was Rusty's older brother's 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 with continental kit and fender skirts. He had stopped by to show the car to his parents and Rusty. Rusty informed me that he was on his way to the Southern 500 in South Carolina. I said , whats that? I had never heard of it before. He informed me that it was a stock car race run at Darlington South Carolina, that was raced on an asphalt track for 500 miles on Labor Day. I asked him if he was going to race this car. He laughed and said no they were special cars with numbers painted on them that race drivers like Lee and Richard Petty drove. I had no idea who they were. I never got to see his brother but when I went home I asked my dad if he knew about the race and he said he did but he didn't seem like he was that interested in it . But he told me more information about Nascar and said maybe some day we would go to a Nascar race. Needless to say my interest was peeked. I never forgot about this car and finally decided to build a model of it. Its a 62 year old memory so its only basically what the real car looked like. But I think its pretty close.

You're going to have to fiddle with the ride height on the modern revell 1/24 scale nascar chassis. Its way too high for one of those hoonigan cars. In fact its way too high for the current cup cars.

Ok, you doth protest too much. Looks like you did an awesome job taming that body. I can see no faults with the overall outcome of the build. in fact, it looks fabulous to me. Probably the best Camaro of this year, I've seen done. You're right, those decals look awesome too. Is that just one layer? If so, congrats to Mark. I'm not seeing any bleed through at all of the white decals on that black body.
