You're probably right. the Chevy has that depressed area in the sides starting behind the front fenders that has a fake emblem at the front of it that will have to be filled in. the Toyota has a feature line along the top of the quarters that runs down to the top of the front fender opening. the rear bumper will have to be changed a bit and of course the nose needs a complete makeover. the quarter glasses are different but it can be cut out at the end and reshaped at the top and I can make a clear styrene one to replace the kit quarter glasses. should be fun. -

Since the snap kits are so cheap now , $9.35 at hobby lobby, i'm going to take a ford and try to turn it into a Toyota. The current arca Toyotas are still like the 2016 nascar Toyotas so its worth a try. The chevy would probably be easier to convert but They were all sold out at the two hobby lobbys I go to. If it doesn't work i'm only out 10 bucks and some time. if it does work I'll get a new glue kit, probably a chevy, and do one of those into a Toyota. -

Wow, Jonathan. You are a building machine. How you crank them out so fast but yet so awesome is incredible. Cant wait to see these finished. -

The one I got was very low quality and did require a ton of work. Never again. -

Yes and I really don't care for resins either. Too expensive and too much work. -

That's sad because I wanted to use one of these kits as a donor for the chassis but the resin toyota body is based on the diecast and 1/24 scale diecasts are bigger than these revell kits so it will look funny. -

Another awesome build, Jonathan. Looks perfect. I wish they would come out with a Toyota. Have you heard anything? -

I wonder how she would have done with a top flight crew chief and the best equipment available. She always ran up front at Indy in an indycar which is no easy task. I think they just used her to get sponsors but didn't really try to win with her. -

Don't know how this got by me. Excellent awesome work by the master of the hobby. -
Just finished. Revell snap kit. My own decals created on my computer and printed on my ink jet printer on clear sheets except for the tire decals which were printed on a white sheet. Took 78 total hours to complete 36 of which were for the decals. If you have never heard of this rookie driver you will. He's going to be something special for sure. His car control is unbelievable. Just needs a little more experience to get his restarts down pat.

Sorry bought that Bruce, I used to work with a guy named Bob Bowser and I guess I had a senior moment. Thanks. -

I tried another sticker on an old 63 chevy body and yes I believe they want you to remove the outer film from the stickers and then clean off the gooey stickum between the image and the outer film with 70 % isopropyl alchohol. This makes the sticker look more like a decal. see the pictures below. just get the outer film loose with your fingernail and pull it off with a tweezers it sticks pretty hard but the image does look better with the outer film removed. -

Great job , Bob . I'm not sure, but I think those stickers have a top layer you remove after you apply them that cleans them up a bit. I found this out when I was using the upper grille sticker as a template for the one I'm building at the moment.. Maybe somebody can voice in on this if it is the case. -

1964 A.J.Foyt Dodge
MarkJ replied to MarkJ's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Thanks, Steve. I remember wanting to build this model back on July 5, 1964 when I was delivering papers, because on the front page of the Houston Chronicle there was a picture of Foyt in this car edging out, I think it was Bobby Issac, at the finish line of the 64 Firecracker 400. Back then we got no nascar news in the paper unless Foyt was involved. He was a home town hero but mostly for indy cars. Back then, building models was tough, because there was no aftermarket decals, and no computers. And I was only 13 years old so my skills were very limited. I mostly built glue bomb military aircraft that I did not even paint. just glued the pieces together and I was done.
